  1. Perhaps a squally thundery nature to the showers Chris?
  2. Ice in Wallasey? impressive. i noticed Albert Dock got a minimum of -0.2C this morning which is highly unusual .
  3. Not that cold in the end, classic cold welling at lower elevations, whilst higher elevations were milder. Textbook situation. Minimum in Heswall 3.0C with only the slightest hint of patchy frost on cars and grass. Meanwhile down towards Mid-Wirral, Thingwall was frosty and icy. I think the inversion ceiling was around 80-90m asl on the coast.. that's what I saw this morning anyway.
  4. Looks like it will clear, but the back end may flirt with more western parts in the form of showers overnight.
  5. lets not forget that snow is only projected to kick in for more low levels between circa 02:00 to 09:00 according to TAF's (and the Met Office warning system)
  6. The rain has got lighter here and temperatures and dewpoints are on the rise.
  7. heavy driving rain now.. temperature in steady slow decline, currently 3.5C dewpoint 3.2C
  8. Ah yes, I didn't know there was another Bootle. Yes definitely not the Bootle in Merseyside haha.
  9. Bootle? I presume you are not talking about the Bootle in Merseyside.
  10. Indeed, sometimes it's fascinating to see the differences in short distances sometimes. A few years back I was standing on the to of Poll Hill (second highest point in Merseyside), at 360 feet, looking down over the Cheshire Plain, where it was comletely white. Yet on the hill, only rain.
  11. That ties in neatly with the Met-office warnings, in which Liverpool AP is under the snow warning. that doesn't help me or you though :-)
  12. Raining but feeling noticeably milder/more humid
  13. Good old subtropical Wirral. my Courgettes and runner/french beans are still flowering and growing. Courgette Pasta will be with dish this winter I think.
  14. Minimum here was +2.2C ... still awaiting an airfrost.. could be a while away based on the model outputs. Cold rainy day ahead.. maybe some snow in the east of the region or at higher elevation like Oldham?
  15. Plus the ferry is still running it looks like. They didn't let a few icebergs stop them running the service. Nowadays a sleet shower brings the whole fleet to a stand still.
  16. That's unreal ... seems crazy to see Seacombe encrusted in sea ice!
  17. I hope it's a cold one this year.. although I favour milder conditions the child inside me wants a season of frost and snow. Unfortunately with a minimum of 6C last night, the first frost is yet to hit here. Already it's clouding over here so the first frost will have to wait a little longer
  18. A very poor day really.. cold, with constant rain... no thunderstorms and temperatures a good 10 degrees lower than forecast. A pretty autumnal day, and not forecast this way at all. Tomorrow will likely be the same.
  19. That's it now here for thunder.. everything is moving off northwards. Hopefully next time will be better. Lightning is a must to see in any storm but somehow has managed to evade us.
  20. It's high level so no lightning seen... just thunder heard. Also some haul at the moment
  21. Mental storm coming this way... constant thunder in the distance... oh wow...
  22. There's lots around the Llyn Peninsula. Huge storm around that way terminating in Cardigan Bay. Personally I would stay around Holyhead.. if you are planning to come back this way you will be disappointed. No real eastward shift.
  23. Lightning out west getting more frequent so when that storm hits say Blackpool it should be on full pelt.
