  1. The worst time for me is just after Christmas/new year time when up until March the darkness seems never ending, only upside is the possibility of snow and ice days but as much as I love the lighter nights and mornings once we get to September I start to look forward to the spookiness of Halloween and the clocks changing back and also the first frosts of the season
  2. seeing the clouds building maybe I was getting a bit over enthusiastic still hoping for maybe tomorrow and Tuesday
  3. definitely looking to change now started off with a bit of acas bubbling up and then noticing some cumulus trying to build, haven't had clouds obscuring the sun for over a week, first time today and gradually getting more hopefully its a sign of some big storms on the way, I'm a lover of the blue cloudless skies and endless sunshine but would be good to have some storm activity now
  4. As said above by you lovely lot, there's definitely some instability starting to happen noticed quite a bit of cirrus floating round this morning and some acas earlier on, now seems to be some cumulus looking stuff building quite nicely also noticing its starting to feel a bit more humid so I'll second that in saying it could be a breakdown earlier than expected
  5. coincidentally I was watching a documentary on youtube about the summer of 76 which showed the invasion of ladybirds, people getting attacked by swarms of them and cars covered in them, I found it really interesting and thought it makes the invasion of 95 look meek compared to then
  6. I can't remember much of the summer of 95 as I was only 7 at the time but one memory that always sticks in my mind was the invasion of ladybirds I'm guessing due to the heat, I remember my dad pulling the branches back on one of the conifers in my then front garden and the trunk of it completely covered in ladybirds it looked like hundreds of them
  7. gfs 00z hinting towards another warm day for Monday but given any storm activity I suppose will depend on sunshine amounts, it's also looking pleasant again from the 23rd looks like a brief plume of heat into the high twenties but looks to be a one day affair until we return to normal, all in FI of course so remains to be seen
  8. Sorry to derail the thread but he is awesome
  9. gfs 06z looking like its keeping the heat going until Wed/Thurs yet on BBC weather app its predicting the breakdown from Monday
  10. Again I feel your pain, there's literally bins every few yards when I walk my kids to school and still there's copious amounts of litter and piles of dog s**t to have to dodge
  11. Tell me about it they hang from the trees like dirty christmas decorations
  12. Same here that is one of the epic summers of my teen years, I was going into the last year of secondary school then always reminds me of the massive paddling pool we had at home and the hours spent in it with my mates, don't think there weren't many days we were out the pool it was that hot and sunny
  13. Gfs looking a scorcher this week especially southern/central England I'm sure I spotted a 35/36 in there somewhere looking like the nights will be a tad more bearable this time compared to last month during those scorching few days so hopefully a better nights sleep, on the other hand looking like a bit of a turn to a cool down next week although when that happens remains to be seen
  14. Good morning fellow weather enthusiasts sorry I haven't posted in a while life gets in the way and all that looks like we're in for a glorious week of sunny weather (drought conditions aside) but hopefully some much needed rain soon in the forecast for those who need it but on the flipside it makes a change from August last year with the grey gloom and grot fest we had throughout kinda giving me Aug 2020 feeling once again just minus the thunderstorms (really hoping for some before the month is out)
  15. Agreed I'm hoping its not another gloom fest like last year just without the cooler temps
  16. gfs 00z seems to be toying with the idea of mid thirties again from the 9th for central and southern England and its looking like the whole country is going to be bathing in warm temps with high twenties N/W too, the heat is on
  17. I have to agree it was pleasantly surprising, how heavy it got late evening too and my lawn is looking rather refreshed this morning.
  18. gfs 18z seems to be backing away from the idea of widespread warmth from the 9th although still some pleasant temps to be had in central and southern England, not quite as keen to spread the heat further N/W, hopefully its having a bit of a wobble and there's still something pleasant on the cards for August for many of us
  19. Wet autumn and snowy winter
  20. Looking at the gfs 18z still looking very warm from the 8th onwards dare I say it hot will have to see when the 00z finishes updating whats the latest news but I will say one thing as much as I love autumn I won't be in the feels for it until at least September I think August still has a summer treat waiting for us
  21. Looking at the gfs its looking like another taste of summer might be on the way some pleasant looking temps into the mid/high twenties and its looking like the N/W may have a taste of summer too from the 9th, have a feeling summer may not be done with us just yet
  22. Certainly a drop in temp on the gfs 06z although there's still some pleasant temps to be had only thing is looking like low pressure could possibly take hold, hopefully a rogue run, bring back the sun
  23. Felt very autumnal yesterday evening fairly gusty N/wly breeze with quite a chill in the air felt very much like October almost felt like I needed to put the heating on, house temp dropped to 20.5c from 23c earlier in the day shocking to think only a week ago we were at record breaking temps
