  1. Yes will have the whole of March now to look forward too, happy days.
  2. I am without words..... Oh well, we still have the pub run to look forward to and some possible eye candy, just hoping its had a lot to drink tonight.
  3. This is true, also in April, I think colder Sea Temps, strength of PPN and also avap cooling play a big part of Spring snowfall. Snow during the afternoon period can also be wet, or sleet. 12z short ENS looking ok.
  4. As Nick and others posters have highlighted, today being the first day of the SSW may well bring us multifaceted, sudden and unexpected upgrades in the models short term, fingers very . It's also my birthday today, maybe the 12z runs will give me a nice present.
  5. Still a chance that the high won't sink so fast, UKMO has it further north and is the pick of the bunch. This northerly incursion came from nowhere really yesterday, so still some hope for upgrades in the models. Also worth baring in mind that everyone including the Met Office thought that February was a right off just two days ago.
  6. I was half expecting this from the GFS tonight, yes we have seen it all before. Lets see what tomorrows runs turn up I guess.
  7. Yes big upgrade in the mean, even the control run is much improved.
  8. Indeed, could this be the turning point we are seeing here? More upgrades in the pipeline?
  9. At last some glimmer of hope, ok its the GFS 06z. Just need that LP over Italy to deepen slightly and not sink, lots of cold there to our east to latch onto.
  10. Sunny here but a cold wind blowing, saw the 1st half naked person along the sea front, pretty mad if you ask me. There are one or two that go swimming in the winter months, but I have noticed that sunbathing does not usually start in February until we hit about 12/13c, and it was nowhere near that here today. Most people were still wrapped up pretty well.
  11. Lovely. I'll be doing something similar next Winter for sure! Incredible that we can go through another February without even one half decent toppler, let alone any form of a coldish easterly or north easterly. I have zero interest in a cold March or April, or god forbid May, outside of maybe the first third of March.
  12. Met Office almost always seem to have a mild bias, and in the UK Winter this makes them almost always right. Once they see something colder on the horizon they will turn slowly more bullish. Miserable couple of days down here, cloud, more cloud, quite mild and even some drizzle. I don't think I can stand another bland, boring British winter, will try to get away somewhere next year.
  13. Ideally from mid March and April, snow late in the day, ideally early evening, heavier the better, followed by a frost, then you have until the following morning of Winter wonderland at your disposal.
  14. Could be on course for a near record dry February, maybe we will see more in the way off ppn later in the month, but this HP seems very persistent. I wonder where we stand so far this month for precipitation?
  15. Could see a fairly large drop again tomorrow though after last nights cold temps, it's the frosts of course that suppress the CET, and although we might not see any snow, there could certainly be more frosty or at least somewhat cold nights later in the month even if daytime temps go quite high for the time of the year. Short month this one of course. Anyway It will be interesting to see how much things warm up, will night time temps now recover much, and will it be enough to push the CET significantly back up again. The effects of any SSW will probably not be felt by the end of the month, but we shall see.
  16. Don't seem to happen much any more, that's why on the chart that I posted earlier you done see snow cover much in Central France and NW Italy, away from the Alps. Any undercut when HP is far enough north just seems to fizzle out. All the energy goes over the top of the high and dumps lots of snow on it's way down in the east/SE Europe etc. Then the HP sinks again.
  17. Yes this happens quite frequently. In fact I often check on the Scottish mountain's for snow cover in May and see the fresh snowfall, crazy really. What I don't want to see this May, and this is turns up quite regularly, is a massive Scandi high that produces those very chilly easterly winds right down the east and SE coast of the UK. This results in North wales basking in 20c plus sunshine, and somewhere like Margate freezing cold at less than 10c!
  18. Yes of course Lass, well it's called Climate Change now. Don't seem to effect anywhere else globally, just us!
  19. They will be soon enough, trust me. Why has February become such a warming month, I don't get it, my birthday is in middle of the Feb, and I always remember snow either before, during of after.
  20. It will be the white Easter next, then showers in May! I don't mind early March snow, thats about it though.
