  1. If it gets much below freezing there will be some fun and games. Does anyone have a link to observational dewpoints as i'm not on my computer with all the bookmarks.
  2. Let me know if it starts snowing on top of that hill mate.
  3. Can't you hear the Benny Hill music in the background as the GFS rolls out?
  4. I'd have got away with it if it wasn't for that pesky warm sector.
  5. Cold rain / bit of sleet atm. Glad i'm indoors, I hate cold rain.
  6. You know better than that mate... 2c and below freezing dew points will give you snow.
  7. Was over in Wheaton Aston Earlier, bloody , light snow on and off more or less. I'm quietly confident (even taking into account Wildwood snowshield) that we'll get leathered tonight. I'll be happy to see it sod off tomorrow though, moving house.
  8. Dew points and ppt intensity is where it's at tonight.
  9. After Saturday we'll be relying on disturbances from the north sea carrying inland. The air is cold enough so it's very possibly that we could see some very heavy, short lived showers dumping a cm or more or more organised bits of precip. Get the cold in place and the rest is just gravy.
  10. That's 3 of us, we're going to need our own thread at this rate.
  11. Ian, I can tell you where that northern limit will be...... Penkridge.
  12. heh, it looks like the pivot will be right over me... I'll have a fiver on the snow line stopping and retreating 10 miles SW of here.
  13. Amazing really, it takes a shortwave in the bloody IRISH SEA to make this thing pivot a few miles east of here. The staffordshire snow shield strikes again.
  14. This is model related.. trust me... As others have hinted , this model output is similar to Jan 1947... As much as I love snow and cold, the following makes sober reading. "The winter is also cited as a factor in the devaluation of the pound from $4.03 to $2.80, Britain's decline from superpower status and the introduction of the Marshall Plan to aid war-torn Europe." You can google it , but here is the link. (There are models in there) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_of_1946%E2%80%931947_in_the_United_Kingdom Mods, feel free to move this to ramp/moaning if need be.
  15. Those are 500hpa heights, not temperatures. Most make this mistake when first hitting the model output threads so it's normal....
  16. I like that description... if it took a 'superstorm' to break the block, then I reckon I could live with that as it's memorable. I'm uneasy seeing the vortex modelled to undercut, not because it would bring milder conditions, but because it would bring absolute chaos.
  17. They'll use either todays 00z runs or todays 12z runs for the countryfile forecast.
  18. We'll get snow out of the second front.. trust me.
