  1.  Weather-history  Wow , glad I put off my spring visit back to UK. Completely different over here , almost drought conditions caused by a combination of only small snowfall amounts below 1500m during the past 2 months and persistent Fohn winds and sunshine with warmth well above normal early Spring levels. 30c in the forecast for some parts this weekend. Crazy, then forecast of snow and cold to return Mid - month. We will see ? I do hope you lot get a break soon for the many days of rainfall you have endured. Send some over here !

  2. @Blessed Weather  Malcolm, I think this has been the warmest season in the Austrian Alps generally since I came out here in 2005. Locals think the warmest ever ! Sure France has done a lot better this season going by reports ? It has been hard to tap into any cold air source this season for the Eastern Alps Spring very early here with snow line beyond 1500m this morning. Cattle coming out as well to grass.

  3. Warm sunshine, fohn winds and desert dust has brought an abrupt end to the ski-ing season in these parts. Very little snow left above 1500m. Any ski-ing on offer is hard work with very soft snow piste and not that enjoyable. Overall, the past 3 months have been incredibly mild with record temps recorded in the mountains. The piste workers have worked wonders to keep the season going as long as it has. An early Easter was expected to provide an end of season bonus for the ski-ing business but sadly the punters have decided to stay away for the most part as a picnic in the forests sounds more attractive. I have postponed my trip back to blighty as the prospect of wind, rain and chill not my cup of tea. So hopefully early June for a visit ? I do miss the Great British pub, tv and food ( the best in the world by a country mile ). So boys and girls, thats me signing out on this thread until next season.

  4. Morning all. Just looked at the models , so have decided to postpone my spring visit to the NW. Wind, rain and chill not my cup of tea. Warm sunshine, fohn winds and desert dust just abouit brought a early end to the snow over here with very little remaining  below 1500m . A bit of disaster for the ski-ing industry who were expecting a good end to the season with Easter being early this year. Anyway, despite the horrid weather for you lot, you still have the best pubs and food in the world by a country mile on your door steps ( and tv ) which is crap over here. Hope to get over in June.

  5.  A sunless miserable day here in the Austrian Alps . Snowfall above 1200m. Drizzle and rain in the valley with mild conditions persistent. Crap winter really over here , March following the pattern of the warmest February ever in Austria with temps well above normal values.  However, we do see the sunshine from time to time. Looking at your sunshine totals in the Northwest of England , almost non existent so far this year . Is it really that bad ? My farmer friend up near Skipton say its permanently wet and cloudy but frost free for the most part. In fact he also tells me he has never seen the ground so sodden.

  6. Evening all , just looking at that latest chart for months end. Another pulse of warm air heading into The Eastern Alps. So far up to 25 th Feb , it is the warmest February ever in 257 years of records kept in Austria. Nearly a massive +6c  above the 1991-20 average ( that is also a period of warm decades ) Some parts of Austria not seeing any snowfall at all this winter. Quite astonishing.

  7.  Weather-history Sounds horrible and that combined with full cloud cover for much of the past 12 months. When do those records go back ? I sure love my roots back in the Northwest but do not miss that terrible gloom for the most part. I watch all the Premier games on TV over here and have noticed how many of the pitches are looking a bit worse for all the rain and lack of ☀. Usually, they all look in pristine condition. I hope the change in wind direction later this week lifts the gloom for you lot. Sick of this mundane winter over here. Hardly seen a frost and thats at 1350m absl. Good news , plenty of snow coming to end the month , hopefully, and maybe some for you guys ?

  8.  tricol  I think weird in the sense much of Europe has been very mild for the most part including much of The British Isles but less than 2 hours flight from Manchester , Stockholm and much of Sweden having its coldest winter for several decades with record low temps last month recorded in Sweden and Finland. Vienna on course to smash its warmest winter ever compared to Stockholm  which is likely to record its coldest winter this century so far.

  9. @Weather-history How are the Feb stats going up in the NW counties ? Going by my farmer friend up near Skipton,  he tells me hardly seen the sun this month / or year so far ! Very wet and mild for the most part apart from a couple days of wet snow earlier in the month. Also he notes hardly any frost to report so far . Back here in the Austrian Alps , lack of sunshine not a problem but the warmth is incredible on some days. Records will fall unless we get a last cold week of the month. 22c down in the valley on Friday . Something weird going on.

  10.  Daniel*  I just hope that charts comes to fruition next week. Currently , over here in Austria heading for the warmest February ever ! Yesterday saw a record 13.9 c recorded at 2400m , the warmest at that elevation for February  since 1961 . Quite widely 19 c recorded at 400m on Friday. No wonder when 37c plus being recoded during this month in Morocco. Something very wrong !

  12. Yesterday was the warmest February day at 2000m  since 1961 in the Salzburger Mountains with a temp of 13,9 c at 2400m level . Locally in the lower valleys at 400m , temps of 19 c recorded quite widely. This Feb heading for the warmest February ever in Austria ! No wonder when you see temps of 37c plus being recorded in Morocco. Something is very wrong.
