  1. 10mins! That's a rarity these days for our area EDIT - Just had a very chilly breeze blow through, not a good sign before its even arrived
  2. I'd be surprised if there is not one confirmed funnel cloud/tornado on a day like this!
  3. Wow - cell to the South of London has exploded in size and intensity in just 30 mins!! So too the one in Kent!
  4. <_< Will wait and see first - getting brighter...ish!
  5. I know - just better not be between the 19th and 26th June otherwise Beechy Head beckons <_<
  6. So frustrating - if I don't get storms, I can cope with seeing some cracking convection and towers - makes for nice piccies! This murk and yuckiness is taken a long time to budge!
  7. Wow - explosion in activity towards Hampshire, and possibly heading NE towards London...he hopes! EDIT - Naw - just checked and most of it seems to be moving NNE so may miss - boooooo! This would time in almost immaculately with VP's prediction! Though as I say, pretty much anywhere could potentially get something today so we won't really know until we physically hear or see it!
  8. Does dark green and blue blobs, represent supercells or drizzle, I can never remember <_< Seriously though, I would take forecasts with a pinch of salt, regardless of whether they have come from the BBC or MetO. UKASF has a thunderstorm warning for a large chunk of C England with a watch in most other places. Our trusty estofex has nothing thundery coming within hundreds of miles of here. BBC will chop and change their graphics normally until after the event. I noticed the MetO upgraded the weather graphic for the NW to thunderstorm, only for the cell to have pretty much died before making landfall. Signs are pretty much anywhere, bar the SE (though I commend VP's optimism <_< ) could see something today. One of the places UKASF pretty much missed for T'storm warning is where MetO have issued a flash warning.
  9. Let's not get too hasty - it does specify this afternoon for you guys, live until 8pm this evening! The sun is already trying to break through here and it is already feeling warmer - more humid too though that's probably because of the rain we're having. There is probably the slimmest of chances should the sun get through we may see stuff developing, but experiencing any of it, 2% probably lol
  10. The rain here is a non-event - showing up as moderate on the radar, but I wouldn't classify it as that strong! Are the downpours predicted meant to come from this particular band, or can we expect showers to develop in between this fragmenting area and the band over N France?
  11. Radar showing little more intensification at the moment - all rather boring Meanwhile, great pic of the Suffolk tornado on the MetO website http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/corporate/pres...ht20090608.html
  12. Few observations from London (nr Tower Bridge) - Clouds aren't moving very quickly, but getting progressively darker. It is eerily calm, with the slightest breeze blowing on occasions. Despite the dark cloud cover, it feels as if it is getting warmer. The radar does indicate that the incoming rain band is growing increasingly in both size and intensity! Just feels like something fun might happen - window well and truly open too just in case  Also, where is that rain band likely to go that is wandering out of northern france? Can we hope for anything from this, especially if the sun gets out behind the current showers moving in? UPDATE - First rains have arrived - moderate I'd say at the moment with relatively decent sized drops.
  13. Rapidly expanding that band of showery rain - knocking on the door here I imagine in the next half hour or so! Be nice if we get some thunder, naturally!
  14. Will keep my eye out then  I never realised that the showers would be kicking off so soon - its more a case of heavy rain at the moment rather than showers! Early brightness here is very swiftly giving way to some darker, ominous looking clouds to the South and Southeast at the moment
  15. Again, those charts looking quite good...for certain areas of the UK anyway
  16. Very true, Nick F. Nevertheless, in an average year I'd still be frustrated by now as May for as long as I can remember, has produced heavy showers and thunderstorms - at least one!
  17. Dont forget, NATURE'S FURY, ITV1 in 30 mins!
  18. Dan Corbett can get knotted with all his splashes of blue paint, if all he can offer me is 'drizzle' bubbling up in the heat of the day, lol...not that I am suffering storm withdrawal symptoms! If my luck so far in 2009 carries into next year, there's going to be plenty of disappointed chasers looking at me with daggers If I am however duly compensated for the way I am being smacked by mother nature, expect an F5 and couple of F4s/F3s
  19. What about for the South East? That was rhetorical btw - death valley is more likely to encounter precipitation of interesting amounts than us!
  20. That doesn't surprise me - it did look increasingly thundery on the way home, and still does from here now. Though v little on radar...help!
  21. Well I am surprised - on the way home, sky turned very stormy looking, with what looked like rain streaks coming from the clouds. Very surprised to get home and see the radar returning nothing! Even planes seemed to going around it...confusing!
  22. We do know, not going to happen Well, having said that, I am looking rather anxiously on the MetO radar loop, which has a tiny speck of blue, turning green! Wouldn't it be hilarious if it developed into a storm
