  1. It’s about to get squally by the looks of it. Weirdly, on the front rather than the back of the rainband.
  2. What an odd map. Looks incomplete. Lots of zeros where there were heaps of snow.
  3. Amazing what high minima can do for the CET. July’s a weird one. It rarely felt cool but also rarely warm, just humid a lot of the time. Needless to say, maxima were below par.
  4. Yes indeed. Mild is a good way to describe this year. Certainly not in the warm category but even less so featuring cold. A year of high minima too.
  5. Have you not just made the point that 2023 has indeed been a mild year?
  6. Well yes, sadly though that’s rare as hens teeth. All too often we get a low down over Iberia and a warm feed around it back into the UK!
  7. I know lol. It was tongue in cheek. In the grand scheme of things the jet is not southerly for winter yet.
  8. I remember the days when a southerly tracking jet meant colder temperatures than a northerly tracking jet…
  9. 2022 was an average year for rainfall here. The autumn and December counteracted the dry summer, April and January. So in that regard the year balanced itself out.
  10. Thanks heavens for mid May to end of June! What an even duller year it would’ve been without those two months.
  11. Tbh we had this rubbish in summer too, July at least.
  12. 15 minutes of interesting weather as that squall line passed through. Absolute whiteout of rain and gusty winds. Quite impressive. Calm now and stopped raining.
  13. Just in time for me to leave the country for 2.5 weeks . My eyes will be on the 26th Jan onwards for my return. It does after all take time for a SSW to take effect… (assuming one happens at all)
  14. Hope everyone in this marvellous thread had a wonderful Christmas. Looks like a brief window to get out for a walk tomorrow on hard surfaces before the next dousing on Wednesday… Two weeks until I can jet out of this country for some much needed sun!
  15. Comparable to December 2015 here for dullness and wetness, just not quite as excessively mild.
  16. Do you live in a cave? We’ve had mild/warm air for ages already. It’s around this time that the winter base state starts to bed in and, unless it’s been anomalously cold beforehand, that means temperatures drop to reflect the season we’re in. At least try and be objective about things…
  17. I’d take either to be fair, but yes I think 03 takes first prize. The unsettled first third also more interesting than 22’s.
