  2. Anyone here experienced today's tornado ? Hearing of a likely event that went through Althorpe, Chapel Brampton, Burton Latimer and Finedon. Many trees reported down and c. 1500 without electricity. This also from the BBC news page .. In Northamptonshire, Earl Charles Spencer said a tornado hit the park at Althorp House and the Reverend Richard Coles described a tornado hitting his church in Finedon. BBC presenter and former musician Mr Coles tweeted parishioners had been praying for the COP26 conference at St Mary's Church in Finedon "when we were hit by what I can only describe as a tornado". Northamptonshire Police said it had received more than 200 calls about weather-related incidents, including trees down in Northampton, Cogenhoe, Roade, Towcester, Castle Ashby and on the A5.

  5. LA PALMA, Spain, Sept 19 (Reuters) - A volcano erupted on the Spanish Canary Island of La Palma on Sunday, the islands' government said. A huge column of smoke rose up after the eruption at 3.15 p.m. local time (1415 GMT) in the Cumbre Vieja national park in the south of the island, according the Canary Islands government. Just before, authorities had evacuated about 40 people with mobility problems and farm animals from the villages around the volcano.

  7. Elements more akin to Autumn this last couple of days here. Back to wearing a big coat, walking in a fresh breeze and mizzle. lots of yellowed leaves falling and the blackbirds starting to feast on the almost ripe rowan berries .. seems strange for the end of July.
  8. About the same here, a few rumbles and a short shower, not amounting to much at all. Just a freshener for the garden.

  14. The odd rumble of thunder here this afternoon and my husband spotted a funnel cloud about 1.15 pm to the north. B.
  15. Most glorious full arc double rainbow here an hour or so ago. Had one a couple of nights ago too in the same position. Beautiful.
