How lovely .. a true Meteor... A fireball seen over many parts of the northern UK has been confirmed as a meteor after a day of confusion about its identity. The fireball was visible above northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland as it blazed across the clear night sky just after 10pm on Wednesday night. It travelled 300km above Wales, the Irish Sea and Belfast before crashing into the Atlantic near Islay, according to new calculations by the UK Meteor Network. The network’s initial calculation suggested it was space junk that could have come from Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite programme. But it withdrew that theory after collecting more data. John Maclean, an astronomer at the network, said: “We’ve analysed it from many more angles. It is definitely a meteor. Probably a small piece of an asteroid that’s broken off an asteroid. It came in at an asteroidal orbit.” https://www.theguardian.com/science/2022/sep/15/fireball-seen-over-uk-confirmed-as-meteor-after-day-of-confusion

Not looking good for the rocket launch as it is said to still be leaking and this is preventing fuelling.

The US space agency will attempt once again in the coming hours to launch its most powerful ever rocket. Saturday's attempt to launch the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket has been scheduled for the start of a two-hour window that begins at 14:17 local time (19:17 BST; 18:17 GMT).

'A monsoon on steroids' Officials estimate that more than 33 million Pakistanis - one in seven people - have been affected by the flooding. The scale of this disaster is truly shocking. Poor souls. Pakistan's planning minister says estimates suggest the floods have caused at least $10bn (£8.5bn) of damage, and many people face serious food shortages. The country was already suffering from an economic crisis. Vaste swathes of rich agricultural land have been devastated and livestock lost in this year's monsoon, damaging food supplies and sending prices soaring.

Exciting times watching this unmanned test flight .. I can just remember the first Moon landing. Can't wait for the ultra clear pictures that we will get this time people, (man/woman) set foot on the lunar surface .. hopefully in 2025. I've only just learned that the crew will transfer to Elon Musk's Starship craft to actually land on the Moon. BL
