  1. thanks for sharing that matey You are of course very lucky....very lucky that, that wasn't me driving through there or I'd have put my foot down, ploughed through it at 60 MPH, and absolutely drenched you before you could even say 'Tsunami!'.....
  2. Yes, we were damned lucky today, to be sure.......but I do think it's about high time the SE got blanketed in a classic overnight plume MCS...It will happen.....eventually!
  3. check out my cheeky little 'up yours' post to the bone dry south east in the convective thread...that'll teach 'em to jest about 'El Brumo'!
  4. ...and here we go, the precession of 'moaning minnies' from the south-east All us midlanders have to say to you is... Behold the power of 'El Brumo' The NetWeather 'No storms Club' is this way -------------> http://forum.netweat...orms-club-2012/ ........ JOG ON ! (Just kidding folks, you'll get imports later on this summer to make us all green with envy! )
  5. the sun is out, daytime heating is kicking in, and yes, more cells are now firing in the west midlands
  6. Well what a stunning day for storm lovers!...The midlands was truly the place to be...We, as a region, had the whole storm suite...classic MCS, baseball hail, flash flooding, blinding lightning, mid-west style HP Supercells and at least one tornado....and some of you moan about the weather?
  7. Rumours are circulating of a loud-mouthed Yank in the vicinity of Leicester, so if the photo is panned out, does the hand belong to this person?
  8. Warm, drizzly & very humid here...classic warm sector weather....Instability looks to be on the wane in the west but here still 1000j/kg of surface cape to tap into....just need this stratoform field over Wales to break, as indeed it is, and convection may well initiate when the CF aids forcing & passes through....It is more likely to occur further east IMO but there is a sniff...Indeed a new cell near Evesham, Gloucs has just fired up with cells firing over north Wales.......There is a divergent surface wind field though through mid Wales progged by the NMM model for this time period, thus hindering any forcing through LL Convergence.......Anyhoos, I'm rambling on so my advice is to keep on radar watching
  9. are you sure?.....satellite imagery infers the CF currently stretching through MId-Ireland, grazing the western tip of wales into cornwall.....the elevated storms that fired this morning were due to the moist plume destabilizing and the current storms over the east midlands are due to a pre-frontal thundery trough increasing the destablizing process....Dew points are still very high throughout most of the UK, only cornwall and SW ireland are showing dewpoints back in the low teens...The reason IMO why the radar is clear to the west & SW of the midlands is to mid & low level detritus left over from the earlier storms....I stand to be corrected however.....and low/mid level Cu field is now breaking up over Wales due to diurnal heating so a 2nd round of convection may well initiate
  10. new cell firing almost overhead, large raindrops and a couple of rumbles moving quickly NE
  11. Have a read here mate... http://www.theweatherprediction.com/habyhints/237/
  12. Looks like a splitter Paul, or possible right turner......nice tight hook just to the SE of Newark....yep, definite HP supercell signature IMHO
  13. Holy smokes Mark...that's 2 miles from me!!!!! distant thunder hear currently from cell near Telford
  14. yes, that's it, pronounced hook echo hence the warning.....quite concerned about this storm
  15. **Any spotters on here in the area around Grantham/Newark??.....very interesting radar signature from the storm heading your way...need confirmation that it's now surface based as could well be developing tornadic supercellular characteristics......**
  16. no it's not here yet, still over west wales
  17. a quick repost.... Interesting radar signature just to the South of Keyworth on the A606 west of Melton Mobray, looks like it's tightening up there, if it's become Sbased might become tornadic?
  18. Interesting radar signature just to the South of Keyworth on the A606 west of Melton Mobray, looks like it's tightening up there, if it's become Sbased might become tornadic?
  19. Classic MCS this morning denoted by frequent IC lightning (100 strikes in 1 minute here) and monsoon like rainfall....The MCS is moving away to the east of our region allowing SB storms to develop along it's outflow and also along the CF moving into the west of our region which is aiding additional forcing & lift
  20. as the general says in the bombadier ads...."Bang on!"...lol
  21. It's a new cell firing along the outflow boundary of the MCS matey...exciting times!
  22. Just to add to the post that in addition more storms/heavy showers will erupt along the outflow boundaries of the MCS (both to the NE & SW of the MCS) as clearing skies will initiate strong solar heating
  23. Yes,more storms are and will develop over Wales as the cold front initiates additional forcing and lifting...What we've experienced so far this morning is a pre-frontal trough which was forecasted, We are still under the influence of the plume and will be until the cold front passes through this afternoon, so expect more storms to fire, but these are likely to be surface based and more discrete (more scattered) so frequent cloud to ground lightning & possible tornadoes are expected in these storms,...See Nick Finnis's updated convective forecast.. Here in Penkridge, the main road (A449) is closed and the village centre is under water with shop fronts reporting flooding...not good
  24. A word of caution for areas to the east (Lincs, Yorks, East Midlands etc)......Seriously keep an eye on this developing MCS over the west & SW Midlands..It's currently elevated but as it moves eastwards, in conjuction with diurnal heating & low level moisture pool this complex could well root into the lower boundary layer and 'morph' into a potentially severe surface based complex.....The more learned on here will be able to elaborate more if I'm correct, but this has the potential to be a dangerous storm complex.....So whilst, yes storms are exciting etc etc please bare this warning seriously in mind.....cheers
