    [b][i][size="4"][u]Milder, But For How Long?

    [/u]Over the next few days the weather is going to turn milder, however there will be alot of wet and windy weather around. Although we are not done with the snow just yet, as the next front to sweep in from the Atlantic may well bring a brief period of snow to some areas.

    However before that Northern areas will see increasing amounts of sunshine, however further South i think it will remain cloudy with some light showers possible even these will be far between. As we move towards the evening hours a front will begin to move in from the Atlantic, however skies will be clear and this will allow tempertures to drop and a slight frost may develop. The charts below are from the 06z and show the tempertures for 18.00 and midnight.

    The rain will turn heavy across Ireland for a time, turning lighter later overnight. The rain will be at it's heaviest across Wales, The South West and later Northern England and Scotland.

    However as the rain hits the colder air sitting across the Scotland and the far North of Northern England it may turn to snow, more so across Scotland, Scottish Hills and the Hills across Northern England. Snow will even possible across lower levels for a time. Amounts are very uncertain could be alittle bit more or less, however i would not rule out 2-3cm to some localized lower levels and as much as 5-8cm across the hills. Any wintery weather across Northen England should turn to rain fairly quickly, elsewhere is going to be a milder night with rain (heavy at times) across all areas of the UK. Heavy rain coupled with last night's heavy rain and snow-melt could lead to some localized flooding, there are a number of flood watches in force across the UK and can be found here [url="http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/31618.aspx"]http://www.environme...oods/31618.aspx[/url]

    As we move towards dawn the tempertures across Scotland will be on the chilly side, so ice may be a hazard first thing. However rain will still be sitting across most parts, and this again will be heavy towards the West.
    However the rain should clear East towards dusk, although it will leave some sharp showers in its wake.

    The milder air should reach all areas of the UK by the end of Thursday, and temps will be 8-13c. For the rest of the week its looking wet and windy at times, however there will be a couple of dry windows at times. However with all the rain that's due over the next week or so flooding is expected.

    [center][b][size="3"][font="Calibri"]Over the next 24 hours or so the UK will be entering its second major cold spell of the season, and it will on begin tonight as a front moves down from the North, with the arctic air following closely behind. Now there has been alot of talk about downgrades, over the last few hours there really has not, the charts are still trying to pin point where the snow will actually fall and where it will be at its heaviest. [/font][/size][/b][/center]
    [center][b][size="3"][font="Calibri"]Anyway back to tonight, and you can see from the chart below, the front that will be responsible for bringing in the cold air. Now as the front moves south there will be wintriness to it. However it’s still hard to pin point at the moment. I think most areas are likely to see a dusting from this if not move, and if you don't see any snow there will certainly be a major ice risk for most if not all areas. The precip chart I am using below is to highlight what will happen when the front moves South, i am not using it to forecast snow. As I feel these charts are pretty unreliable. If you want to forecast snow watch the radar and look out the window, as i don't think anyone can get it right. Look at the last cold spell i got a pasting one Friday night, was it forecast nope. So they do and will get it wrong lol.[/font][/size][/b][/center]

    Still Cold

    Hi guys,

    Here is my latest look at the UK cold spell at the moment, snow showers will be effecting most Eastern areas of the UK. These could merge at times to bring a longer period of snow. Then as we head towards mid morning the snow showers will begin to move there way West to effect most areas, again these will be heavy at times.

    There is currently a band of snow sitting across Eastern and Central areas of England, and this will contiue to effected these areas for awhile yet, the snow it then likely to move into North-West England. Other areas will remain dry, but i would not rule out a snow showers just about anywhere.

    As we move towards tonight, snow showers widespread and heavy at time will continue for awhile before retreating to the Eastern Coast.

    Tomorrow it's more of the same snow showers heavy at times, however there maybe a alittle rest bite on friday before the mild v cold for the weekend,

    Hello guys and welcome to my weather forecast for the next couple of days, i must stress there is currently alot of uncertainty about the weather that is going to effect the UK over the next few days, you could see rain, sleet or snow over the next week or so and possibly longer.

    However i shall do my best to give you as much details as i can.

    [color=red][i][b]Weather Warning:

    Areas Effected: Northern and Eastern Scotland/North-East England/Eastern England South-East later.

    Areas mention above are likely to see rain/sleet (mostly around the coast with snow alittle further inland over the next few days and beyond. Falls of 1-2cm are likely over lower ground (maybe more) with as much as 10-15cm over higher routes. Winds will be strong at times, this will lead to blizzard like conditions at times especially over the hills.

    Where showers have fallen ice will be a factor.[/b][/i][/color]

    [color="#FF8C00"][color=yellow][b][i]Weather Watch:

    Scotland/Northern England/Central England/South East

    Weather: Rain/sleet and snow

    A band of rain sleet and snow could effect most areas of the UK on Friday giving further dusting/covering of snow at times, however details still remain sketchy at the moment.

    Weather: Sleet/snow and Ice[/i][/b][/color][/color][u][b]
    Winter's Golden Start:[/b][/u]

    Over the last few days we have seen cold air move in from the North-North East, and through-out today showers have been turning more wintry as the day has gone on. rain/sleet and snow will effect areas of Eastern Scotland/North East England and South East England snow heavy at time will give around 1-2cm of snow to lower levels (maybe alittle more) with as much as 10cm over the hill. Band of showers will run down the Eastern side of the country and may make it to the pennines, now further west it will be clear and cold with a frost. However i would not rule out the possibility of the odd showers making it this far.

    As we move towards Thursday its more of the same more rain/sleet and snow showers effecting Northern and Eastern areas, these again giving a covering in places. Winds may turn strong at times giving blizzard like condition over the hills. However some showers may make it into Western Scotland and Northern Ireland at times, these may well me wintry at times. However for Western areas it will be mostly dry/cold and sunny, again i would not rule out the odd showers for these parts. For the far South-West some rain showers may effect this part of the UK at time through-out the day. As we move towards Thursday evening rain/sleet and snow showers will still effect Northern and Eastern areas of the UK, and where showers have fallen ice will be a factor.

    For Friday it looks quite messy at the moment, and quite a tricky one to forecast. However a band of sleet and snow could move down from the North to give alittle more widespread snowfall, however there is alot of uncertainty about this.

    Further ahead and its looking cold with more snow at times.

    Has Spring, Really Sprung

    Well it has been a great start to the week for many areas of the UK, there was alittle blip at the start when a band of snow move South across the country to give alittle snow to some areas. Although other than that it really has been a decent start to the week, so has spring sprung i hear you ask?

    Well after a cold and frosty start to the day, the sun will once again show its ray across most areas of the UK, however cloud will be a problem across Scotland, Eastern coastal areas and possibly Southern areas although for the latter 2 there will be some hazy sunshine at times. Smile Frost will linger across Scotland for much of the day, but apart from that it will be another dry, bright and milder day in any sunshine. Temperatures will range from 4-8c, maybe more across the South.

    Now as we move into this evening its going to be a chilly night, with a widespread frost developing across the UK, however cloud will still be a problem across Scotland. Later this evening and overnight a band of rain/sleet and snow will move in from the North to effect Northern and Western areas of Scotland. Some showers (Which could be wintry at times) may make into into Southern Scotland and Northern England, but these should be light and far between.

    As we move into Friday and its a totally different day, with cloud moving South across most parts of the UK. However it should remain dry with just the small risk of a shower more so the further East you are. Although most areas of Southern England should enjoy a bright day before the cloud thickens from the North later this afternoon. Rain.sleet and snow showers will persist across Scotland through-out the day and into the overnight period. However across other areas of the UK it will be cloudy, but with less frost around.

    For the weekend Saturday will be a cloudy day with some showers possible across the Eastern side of the UK, Sunday will be the best day of the weekend with sunshine to be had, although the cloud will always be a problem across Northern areas. Wherever you are over the weekend it will feel chilly with a Northeasterly/Easterly wind at times.

    Into Next week there should be some decent sunny spells across the UK, however night will be cold and frosty.

    One thing to keep an eye on at the moment the week ending on the 19th (my birthday) there could be a cold snap with some further snow. So please stay tuned to the forecast. However this is a long way off and subject to change Smile.

    Staying Cold

    Well after a wintry few hours and a couple CM's of snow for the far South East, the showers should begin to fade away during this afternoon and towrds evening time. Elsewhere across the UK it's a mainly dry and bright day the further West you are, with some long sunny spells for most of England, Wales and Scotland.

    However head further East and its a mostly cloudy and damp afternoon, with some showers running down the Eastern coast of Scotland and England these could be wintry in nature at times.

    As we move through this evening the snow showers effecting the far South East should of cleared, this will lead to some icy stretches so take care first thing in the morning.

    Further West it will be a clear, cold and frosty night for most of these areas, with some cloud pushing in from the East during the early hours.

    For the Eastern half of the UK quite a few showers will begin to push in from the North Sea, and run down into Central areas of England, the South and South East these could again be wintry at times.

    However the further West you are the more chance you have of staying dry, if you do catch any showers they should be light and far between. Where any showers fall ice could be a risk first thing.

    For Friday its going to be a cold and cloudy day for most areas, with the best of any brightness reserved for Western areas and this will be a struggle. For Eastern areas some light showers will push in from the North Sea, these again are likely to be light and possibly wintry in nature.

    For the weekend it's more of the same dull,damp and cold for most areas. With the best of any sunshine for Western areas.

    Further ahead: It will remain cold, with the start of next week looking very wintry indeed. However this is subject to change, it could be a borderline event.

    [b]Over the next few days it will remain cold, with further outbreaks of rain/sleet or snow at times. During this evening there will be a few sleet or snow showers around effecting Western Scotland, North-West England and possibly Central areas of England at times.

    However there will be some late winter sunshine in between, any showers should be light and far between. Elsewhere it should be a dry end to the day with some sunny spells, however cloud will begin to increase from the West later.

    As we move through the course of this evening and overnight, it will turn frosty across most areas, more so the further East you are, cloud will begin to move in from the West. Although it should remain dry for most areas overnight. Rain will then begin to move in late in the night, to effect parts of the South-West, as the rain moves into Wales/Central England and Southern parts Of Northern England it will turn readily to snow. Amounts will vary perhaps 2-6cm to lower ground (maybe more in localized areas) and perhaps 8-15cm over higher ground.

    As we start Sunday morning snow will be lying across East Wales/Central England/parts of Northern England then North East England later, the snow is likely to be heavy at times. . The main area of snow should move through North-East England fairly quickly, but a few wintry showers will be left in its wake. Elsewhere rain showers are likely to effect Southern areas for a time, however Scotland should enjoy a mostly dry, bright and crisp day. Sunday night is likely to be cold and frosty again, with a risk of ice where any showers have fallen.

    Monday will see a band of rain moving up from the South, this is likely to turn to snow across some central areas. Further ahead still cold and wintry at times. [/b][b][/b]

    Turning Colder

    [b]Turning Alot Colder

    Well this forecast was not hard to right, the weather is just so borning at the moment.

    Over the next few days the cold is going to make a big return to the UK, bringing the risk of snow and ice more on this later in the forecast.

    Back to the here and now, and it's a cold, damp and cloudy evening for most areas of the UK. So let's look at it in alittle more detail, for Scotland it will be cloudy and damp towards the East. However as you move towards Central and Western areas of Scotland the drizzle will die out and some frost and mist patches are likely to form. For Northern Ireland is going to be a quiet night with some mist patches developing. For Northern England there will again be some mist patches with some drizzle towards the Eastern side, more so around coastal areas. A light frost may form across Northern areas for a time, if skies.

    For Wales there may be some light showers around the Western coast for a time, but these should be light and far between. Again there could be some mist patches developing through-out the night. For Central areas of the UK it will be mainly dry and misty towards the West, with some light drizzle towards the East. For Southern areas its more of the same dry and misty towards the West and some light drizzle towards the East. Do you ever get the feeling that your repeating yourself lol.

    Tomorrow looks set to be cold and cloudy across most areas of the UK, however there will be some sunny spells developing across most of Scotland, more so as we move into the afternoon period. There will again be some light drizzle up and down the Eastern coast at times, these could be alittle wintry over the hills at times.

    Sunday night will see a frost towards the Northern half of the UK, however it will remain cloudy towards the South. There again will be some light showers across the Eastern side of the UK, these again may be wintry over the hills.

    As we move towards the new working week, nights and days will become colder with sleet and snow becoming a problem more so for the Eastern side of the UK. However there is a possibility that most areas of the UK will see some snow at some point through next week. However the story differs from run to run, one minute there is widespread snow the next it's mainly for Eastern areas. More detail on this soon.[/b]

    [size="5"][b]Cold With Snow For Some[/b][/size]

    [b]During the next few days we are going to see mild air try to move up from the South, and with cold air moving down from the North theres going to be a battle. Snow is going to be a concern for Northern England/Scotland/Northern Ireland and some Central and Eastern areas for a time tomorrow afternoon and into the evening hours.

    Back to today and its a mixed bag of weather, with some wintry showers for Northern areas of Scotland these will be heavy at times with accumulations over the higher routes and possibly lower levels for a time.

    For Southern Scotland most of this mornings cloud should have moved South, leaving a mostly bright afternoon but feeling cold. For Northern Ireland i think it will remain cloudy with some rain showers at times, these possibly wintry over the highest hills. For Northern England after a cloudy and wet start, the cloud and showers will push Southwards. These may turn wintry as the front begins to clear.

    For Wales/Southern areas/The South West and the South East it will be a mostly cloudy and a damp end to the day and for the overnight period for most of these areas. As we move towards dawn a front will push in from the South West, bringing a spell of rain to Wales/Southern areas/The South West and the South East.

    For Central areas of England it will be a damp/cloudy and cold end to the day, but as we move towards the overnight period the cloud and rain will keep moving towards the South.

    Now for Scotland/Ireland/Central/Eastern areas of England and Northern England where rain/sleet or snow has fallen ice will be a risk through tomorrow morning.

    For tomorrow a band of rain will begin to move in from the South west, this will travel towards the North East during the day and a battle between mild and cold will begin. For the South West/Southern Britain and the South East it will be a damp day through-out with the odd heavier burst possible, but i don't think snow will be any concern for these areas. For Wales it will be again mostly rain, with some snow possible over the Northern hills of Wales. However im not ruling out some wintriness to low lying areas, it all depends how for the cold air gets. For Northern Ireland there will snow at first, giving a small covering in places. However the snow will start to turn back to rain as the milder air moves in.

    For Northern England and Southern Scotland it will be a cold start to the day, with an early frost. As we move through the morning and into the afternoon it will begin to cloud over, snow is likely to fall over these areas giving totals of 2-5cm to lower ground and as much as 10cm over the hills. The snow will then move over Northern Scotland turning lighter as it does, then the band of snow will cross over the mountains of Northern England and then into Eastern England overnight giving a further covering in places.

    Further ahead the band of snow will move through fairly quickly during Wednesday evening leaving some clear skies, so it may turn icy for a time where snow has fallen. Then i think it will turn milder from the South West, with further band of rain moving in from the South West.[/b]

    Areas: Birmingham Northwards

    A front will move in from the South West during tomorrow, snow is likely to be an issue for the areas mentioned above more so for (Northern England and Southern Scotland). Totals of 2-5cm over low lying areas and as much as 10cm over higher routes are expected.[/b][/color]

    AREAS: Northern Areas of the England/Central and Eastern areas of England/Scotland.

    Well after a fairly mild period of weather, its going to turn colder from the North with some snow showers possible. Back to this afternoon and its a mixed bag of weather, with cloud and rain showers to the West and clearer skies towards the East. For the South and South East it will be a mainly dry and bright day for many of these areas, however there may be a few light showers towards Eastern coastal areas. For Wales and the South West it will be a mainly cloudy afternoon with limited brightness if any at all, then as we move towards dusk and into this evening rain will begin to push into the far North of Wales.

    For Northern Ireland and Northern England again it will be cloudy afternoon with some showers at first, however a more period of general rain will begin to move into these areas later this evening. For Scotland it will be a wet and cold day with snow over the mountains, this is likely to be heavy at times. I think in heavier bursts we could see something wintry to lower ground, with maybe a cm or two settling in places. Wherever you are today it will feel cold, more so in the wind.

    As we move into the overnight period a band of rain will move in from the North West, this again will be wintry over the hills of Northern England and Scotland, and possibly to some lower levels for a time during heavier bursts. The rain will be heaviest towards the West and Northern Ireland, and lighter towards the East. The rain will continue to push towards the South East, moving across Wales/Central England and Southern areas. This again could be wintry over the highest ground of Wales. However as the rain moves through Northern areas, skies will begin to clear allowing temperatures to drop and an ice risk will develop for Friday morning (see weather watch).

    For Friday it will be a much brighter day for many areas of the UK, any cloudy and showers left over across Southern/Central and South Eastern areas will be slow to clear. As we move trough the day the Northerly flow will allow some wintry showers to flirt with Northern Scotland/Eastern coast and Western coasts at times.

    Wherever you are it will feel cold, especially in that Northerly wind. Friday will see a widespread frost develop just about everywhere, again where any showers have fallen there will be an ice risk. For the South West and Southern Wales, some showers may effect these areas through Friday night into Saturday morning.

    Further ahead there will be further wintry showers effecting mainly coastal areas and Northern Scotland, however at this stage i don't think snow is going to be a cause of concern during this cold snap.

    Today had been a mixed bag across the UK, with some bright spells for Southern areas. Further North its been a cloudy day, with some mist patches across the hills of Scotland and Northern England.

    As we go through this evening skies will remain clear across Southern areas, with a frost developing. Further North it will remain cloudy with the cloud moving South, with clear spells developing behind a slight frost may develop across some parts of Northern England. For Northern Ireland it will remain cloudy for most of the night, with some mist and fog patches forming.

    For Scotland it will be again cloudy with some mist and fog patches, more so over the hills. As we move towards dawn a band of rain will begin to push in from the North to North-West.

    A band of rain will move across Western Scotland, this will be heavy at times. However i think Eastern Scotland will escape most of the wet weather, some light showers will move across to Eastern Scotland at times. For Northern Ireland it will be a wet start to the morning, but i think the band will weaken and turn more patchy as the day goes on.

    For Northern England it will be a dull and damp start to the day, again most of the rain will stay towards the West. Again light showers will make it across the hills, but the rain will fizzle and weaken as the day goes on. As the rain clears from Scotland and Northern England, there maybe some brightness towards the East at times.

    The rain will creep South across Wales/Central England and Southern areas, again it will turn patchy as it does so. It will be milder tomorrow, but it wont last long and the winds begin to turn to the North.

    As we move through Wednesday night the cloud will thin across most areas, giving a slight frost in places. For Thursday it will be colder day, and with a weather system trying to move in there could be some heavy sleet or snow for some.

    As we move towards the end of the week, it will turn cold with some sleet and snow. More soon.

    [u][b]The Atlantic Takes Charge[/b][/u]

    [b]Most of todays snow has now fizzled out, however there maybe some light falls or rain sleet or snow across parts of Scotland for a time tonight. For Scotland any rain/sleet or snow showers will quickly die away tonight, leaving a mostly cloudy night. However there will be some clear spells towards the East, and if showers have fallen there could be an ice risk.

    For Ireland and Northern England it will be a mostly cool and cloudy night, with maybe a slight frost during clear spells. Again ice could be a slight problem where rain has fallen. For Wales/South West and Central England ice could be a problem as temperatures fall close to freezing, however there will be quite alot of cloud around and possibly some mist and fog patches. For Eastern England and the South East it will again be a cool night, with quite alot of cloud around. There could also be a few mist and fog patches around, so take care if your traveling first thing.

    During tomorrow most of the UK will get off to a cool start, with quite alot of cloud around. Although as we move through the day, the cloud will tend to break allowing some sunny spells at times. However the cloud will always be thickest towards the East, with a few light showers effecting Scotland. However its a different story for Northern Ireland, it will be cloudy from the word go signaling the arrival of the next Atlantic system. Rain will quickly move right across Northern Ireland, the rain is likely to be heavy and prolonged at times. This may give the risk of some localized flooding. From late afternoon the rain will move into Western areas of the UK, again it is likely to be heavy and prolonged at times. As we move into the evening hours the rain will be making its present felt across Central and Southern areas of the UK, where snow has fallen a rapid thaw of any lying snow is likely. Localized flooding could again be a risk for these areas.

    Further North and its a different story as the rain moves into Scotland and Northern England it could turn into sleet or snow, however i think snow is most likely over the hill where up to 7-15cm COULD fall. For lower levels i think it will mostly be rain, but im not ruling any snow out completely at this stage. Due to the uncertainty of this i will try and update my forecast tomorrow, as things become alittle clearer. The front should quickly move into the North sea during Thursday night, however it may linger across the South East for most of Friday.

    Further Ahead: Once the rain clears the far South East, i think a quite but cloudy weekend is on the cards.[/b]

    Reason: An Atlantic system will move across the areas mentioned above tomorrow, bringing some heavy and prolonged rain at times with some gusty winds. Rain fall totals could reach between 15-25mm with as much as 50mm over the hills, this coupled with any snow melt could lead to localized flooding. There are already flood watches in for, so please stay tuned to the EA and your local forecast. As the rain band hits Northern area there is the possibility of some snow, however details are still not certain at this time. however i think snow is most likely over the hill where up to 7-15cm COULD fall. For lower levels i think it will be rain.[/b][/color][/color]

    [u]Winter's Short Return[/u]

    [b]Over the next 36 hours or so winter is going to make a short-lived return to some areas, and yes there will be SOME snow around. However its still VERY uncertain as to where the snow will fall. Colder air will try to push in from the East, and mild Atlantic air will push up from the South-West and when the 2 areas meet later tonight and into tomorrow there will be some sleet and snow in places.

    Back to this afternoon and its a mostly cloudy day across most areas, with limited brightness. For the South-West it will start off dry with a few light showers, before a band of more general rain moves in. The rain will be heavy at times through this evening and overnight, clearing the far South-West towards dawn. For Northern Ireland there will be some clear spells with some limited sunshine through this afternoon, before cloud gathers towards dusk. Again rain heavy at times is likely to push across most of Ireland, the rain will sit across Ireland from about midnight and perhaps linger for most of the day tomorrow.

    For |Wales there will be some bright spells the further West you are for a time, further East the cloud is likely to remain thick. As we move towards the overnight period rain will begin to push in from the South-West. At the moment i think Western Wales is likely to see rain, maybe some sleet. As the rain hits central areas of Wales and the Eastern side it is likely to turn to snow more so over the high ground. However for low lying areas i think its going to be border-line as to who has snow and who will not. Amount are very uncertain 1-3cm to SOME low lying areas and 5-10cm across the hills.

    For Scotland/Northern England/Central England and the South (away from the South-West) it will be a dry and cloudy night for most areas, Western areas of Scotland and England will have clear spells at times leading to a slight frost. Further East it will remain cloudy with patches of mist and fog forming. Some light showers may effect Eastern England coast-line from time to time.

    Tomorrow morning and the rain band will be sitting across Ireland/South-West England and Wales, rain is likely across the South-West this heavy at times. However as we move across Wales and later some parts of Central England/Southern England and maybe the South-East later. Snow will fall across most of Wales through the morning giving a covering in places, with more of the hills. Amounts and as to where the snow will fall is going to be very difficult to forecast. However 1-3cm to SOME low lying areas and 5-10cm across the hills.

    The rain/sleet and snow band may make it as far North as North-west England, before fizzling out. As it begins to fizzle most of the precipation will move towards the South East. Some snow is likely across Central parts of England, South of Birmingham and will tend to move towards the London area. Although i feel its going to be a case of a now cast event. So i will try and update tomorrow. For others areas its more of the same dull and cloudy with the best of any brightness for Western areas. It will feel cooler than recent day with a South-Easterly breeze.

    Further ahead the mild Atlantic air is likely to win, so more rain and windy weather for late Thursday into Friday. [/b]

    The Atlantic is now back in charge of our weather, and it feels like a life time . Heavy rain and strong winds effected most parts of the UK today, this coupled with snow melt has brought the risk of some localized flooding. Most of the heavy rain and strong winds have now moved into the North Sea, but there are a number of flood watches/warnings in place. Please contact the EA if you are at all concerned.

    For the rest of tonight, Scotland will have a cool night with some patchy frost and there is the possibility of some mist or fog patches developing, there could also be a few showers towards the Western side. Northern England will remain cloudy with some mist and murk patches developing, some showers may move in from the Irish Sea at times more so towards dawn. Northern Ireland is likely to remain cloudy with showers, these heavy at times. Further South across Central England/Southern areas and the South East, a band of showers or more general rain (heavy and time will move East through the night. The rain is likely to be heaviest towards the South, with the rain turning more patchy the further North you go (Central England) Wales and the South West will have a quite night.

    Sunday look like being the best day of the weekend, it will be a slow start. Rain will quickly leave the far South East towards dawn, leaving sun spells in its wake. For Wales and the South West it will be a cloudy start, this could produce some light showers at times. These are likely to be light and far between,in-between there will be some sunny spell more so across Wales. For Northern England it will be a dull damp and misty start to the day and i don't think it will improve much through the day. The cloudy may thin the further West you are allowing for some sun to break through. For Scotland again it will be a dull and damp start to the day, the further South you are the cloud is likely to break up after a slow start and give spells of sunshine at times. Further West there will be showers these are likely to be heavy at times. With a more general band of rain arriving later. For Northern Ireland any early sunshine, will be quickly be replaced with cloud from the Atlantic bringing some heavy showers at times, again a more general band of rain will arrive later, but this should turn lighter as it does so. Wherever you are it will feel milder than it has done over recent weeks.

    Start of next week and beyond remains uncertain at the moment, further Atlantic fronts will move in from the West bringing some heavy rain and strong winds at times. Maybe something alittle cooler/colder mid-week, however i don't thing this will last long. With the Atlantic throwing more wet weather our way. Incase your wondering its way to early to talk about any wintry precipitation.. .

    [u][b]Alittle Snow/Slightly Milder, With Heavy Rain[/b][/u]


    [b]Well many areas of the UK seen some heavy snowfall last night, it was all thanks to an Atlantic system that tried to move in. As it moved in from the South-West and bumped into the colder air we seen snow across the South-West/Wales/Central England and parts of North-West England. This system has now weakened and is currently bringing light patchy snow to Northern England and later Scotland, where snow could be alittle heavy over hills. Amount will be very little in these areas though, with the hills seeing alittle more.

    For the rest of England and Wales it will be a calm night, with freezing fog becoming a problem for the South and perhaps Wales. Light showers will effect Eastern England at times, however these are likely to be rain. However the real risk for tonight will be the ice where snow/sleet/rain has fallen or thawed.

    Tomorrow will see any snow across the far North of England and Scotland fizzle, leaving a damp and cold feel across much of the UK. With sunshine really limited. Light rain/sleet showers may effect Eastern areas of England, with rain showers towards Ireland. Temperatures will still be on the chilly side, feeling alittle milder the further South you go.

    Friday will see another Atlantic system move in bringing rain to Ireland/Wales/Central England/Northern England/Eastern England and Scotland. This is likely to be heavy, this will cause a thaw with maybe a small risk of localized flooding in places. There could be some hill snow for Scotland and the far North of England. Into the weekend and Saturday will see another Atlantic system with heavy rain spreading across all parts, maybe some sleet and snow on the leading edge. However i feel this will be limited for the hills. Sunday will be a drier day. Where ever you are it will feel slightly milder, but by no means tropical

    [b]Heavy snow is now affecting the South West and Southern Wales, there has been quite a few cms to low lying areas with more over higher ground. I think now that in the areas mentioned above the snow is mainly becoming light to moderate falls in nature, however there will still be heavier bursts at times. Amounts of snow and warnings can be found in my earlier blog entry.

    Along the backside of this front it MAY start turning back to rain and with milder temperatures to follow, South Western area may see a quick thaw through tomorrow and the rest of the week.

    As we move further into this evening the band will slowly make its way North, but at the moment its still a nowcast event. Which means theres still uncertainty into what may happen. However im expecting the band to stall fizzle and weaken near Birmingham. So some snow showers (light in nature) may effect Northern areas of England/Central areas of England and perhaps the South East. Across Northern areas of Scotland and England showers maybe heavy at times over the hills.

    Into to tomorrow and i think it will be a cloudy day with a fair few wintry showers around for most areas of the UK. Dry towards the South-West[/b]

    [u][b]Heavy Snow For A Time[/b][/u]

    [b]Due to several power cuts through out today, i am unable to update my forecast as much i would like.

    An Atlantic system is now moving in from the South-West, bringing heavy rain/strong winds and slightly milder air. However with colder air still sitting across the UK, the rain is turning to snow. Rain and a sleet mix is likely in the far South-West and to the coast. However further inland its Turning to snow with 2-10cm for lower ground (maybe more in favored spots, and 15-25cm over high ground. I still feel that in some places it will be border-line as to who sees snow or rain.

    As we move towards evening time the band will slowly move Northwards, however i think it will weaken as it does so. There still will be heavy snow for most of Wales,Southern England away from the coast and maybe Central England for a time. However i feel most of the heavy snow will stay South of Birmingham. With strong winds blizzard conditions are likely. Northern Ireland will see a wintry mix for a time, with snow mostly for higher areas. Ahead of the system showers may develop across Northern England/South East England and perhaps North-Eastern England before dawn. We may see some wintry showers across North Eastern Scotland for a time.

    Again even at this close range, its still not yet known how far North this system will get. Also it is not yet know how fast this system will weaken. However it is already showing signs of weaking in places.
