  1. Those cherbourg cells are tiny, and ties in with perhaps a few isolated storms towards the south east othernight. The main event is where that precipitation pushing into the sothwest, when that lights up it will be on a much bigger scale than what the south east may get
  2. I'm thinking of having an early night and setting alarm for 2am as up for work 5am tmorrow morning :(. Either that or stay up all night
  3. And like some others have said things could go bang very quickly. I remember a few years ago an evening like this with nothing happening and then booom! some massive storms kicked off with 300/min+ strike rates in space of under 30 minutes. Think the one in guildford surrey was a supercell..
  4. Anyone have any towers shooting up where they are, I want pictures
  5. Hope storms develope well inland and not a case of waiting for imports to cross the channel.
  6. Yeah can see what happens . Ideally I'd like it to fire off over the dales with lots of lightning and do what it usually does, has severest weather towards that east coast just before dark before pushing into north sea..
  7. I'm thinking of heading up to the newcastle area to maybe catch a big storm. But weighing up whether they will be severe enough to warrant that drive
  8. Yeah I think we have had some unlucky near misses two. Skipton got a cracker last year which headed up past greenhow. Damage to crops and property due to large hail and 300+ strikes/min...
  9. Storms seem to die over us and then reinvigorate as they head over the dales with newcastle getting battered...
  10. 33 strikes/min ain't that incredible. 2/3 years ago there was regular outbreaks of 200-300/min+ storms
  11. Thinking of taking a drive towards newcastle later if things kick off. That area always seems to do quite well.
  12. Looks like more showers heading towards leeds, heavy two Looking at forecast we got chance of snow showers all day and night, some might be pleasantly suprised with final totals
  13. Looking at the radar lots of very heavy snow showers around the newcastle area with red echoes. I've noticed over the last few big cold spells, showers from the east or north east are always a lot heavier there than in yorkshire, anyone else notice this? I can't imagine it to be anything to do with high ground cos newcastle aint that high
  14. Hmm further south of yorkshire the showers seem to be dying out as they hit inland, hopefully this changes for you soon.
  15. Yeah Im hoping the big ones maintain intensity and head a little further south. With the wind changing to more of a northerly direction this is possible.
  16. A nice little covering here two, did well out of that streamer overnight Think that might be it now
  17. Who's that hanging from the tree? I think It's the moisture from heavy fog in sub zero temperatures, causing it to lightly slow or whatever the phenomen is called.. I don't believe it's actually falling from the clouds high above
  18. The northern extent is further north. But the heavy meaningful precipitation is behind on 7am chart and will likely be exactly the same as the 9am chart come 9am.
  19. ECM is a peach this morning, just wish it had more support. Good luck for those in the south for snow today, I'm hopefull those in the north might get a feed of snow showers from the east overnight. And fair play steve you called out just how far south the models would correct the northern extent of todays precipitation a long way out, even though fair few big hitters was stubborn to do so.
  20. Its GFS and a couple other big guns against APREGE/ICON, some of these models are going to be majorly wrong.
  21. Yeah your probably right mate. I've lost count over the years how many times these type of set-ups shift further south nearer the time! Deep down I'm kind of anticipating the southward corrections but live in hope lol. Was pleasantly suprised this morning when checking the charts though, were still well in the game.
