  1. Think you will be pleasantly suprised later. Our storms later are already starting to develop further south in the form of cumulus clouds highlighted here.
  2. I think this would be the ideal area for storms to develop for us, although I wouldn't be suprised if they were to pop up right over our region anyway.
  3. I'm hopefull as I believe the outbreak of storms later will be very widespread, but I'm a bit unsure as to which parts of our region the storms will be most focused/clustered.. As to our location your probably more clued up than me as to the specifics about getting a good storm here, as I've only recently moved over this end lol. Over leeds/bradford way that's a different matter lol. I'm just seeing what pans out, if o0ur area was to miss it Im prepared to drive upto 40 miles either way to intercept : D
  4. Sun coming out now here in castleford, things looking very good for later.
  5. You have to be joking right. Storms should break out anytime between now and 7pm. Our region is bang in high risk zone for storms today. Hopefully that bit off cloud and crap to the west quickly clears north and the sun can get to work. Already a big clearance just to the south.
  6. Ah that's a bit naff isn't it. I'm very hopeful that todays storms will produce a supercell or two would be nice to see how they look on a doppler radar
  7. Does anyone know if there are any doppler radar's in europe covering uk?
  8. Squall line about to push through, should go mental shortly!
  9. I'm at 265m in west yorkshire, heavy snow but with 0 settling. No chance below 300m.
  10. On top of chevin 265m full on snow but no settling temp in car 1c. Settling snow line must be 350m , so no chance tonight I'm afraid
  11. I think if it's heavy enough and winds remain light evaporative cooling should come into play and we see all snow above 200m.
  12. With a dew point of -1 expect a spell of snow from this, but can't see it sticking. Going to go for a drive up the otley chevin (250m) should be interesting up there ; )
  13. I think given the low dew points and temps already down to 2c, I feel extremly confident showers should be all snow for us and if heavy enough should settle quite easily.
  14. Shower activity to the west picking up a bit now, Could be a fun night
  15. No you just get all the biggest thunderstorms!
  16. Feel like we could all see a bit of snow tonight more especially north/west and south yorkshire. The air just feels dryer and crisper than that mild mush last night, think the dew point of around 1-c at lba airport is conductive to this. -5c uppers aren't perfect but I think if precipitation can be heavy enough and persistent we should be alright. Like the met office warnings more especially over 100m altitude..
  17. Mostly rain/sleet with the odd flake mixed in. Looks to be fizzling out anyway.
  18. Big shower coming in let's see what it does. Probably evaporate over me
  19. Yeah a little bit of altitude certainly helps, but I'm always sceptical about anything coming in from that mild irish sea.. I think mondays event happened due to the precipitation being really heavy and evaporative cooling, there seemed to be little wind.
  20. Problem is their 850s are expected to be a bit lower than ours as the coldest wedge of the air flow is just south of us. Also I expect shower activity to be much stronger through the midlands with the cheshire gap perhaps coming into play later. Hope I'm wrong but can't see any more than the odd slushy deposit overnight.
  21. Temp now showing 2c and dew point 1c at leeds bradford airport. Can't see it dropping much further not shaw the 850s of -5/-6 will be quite low enough for any snow tonight.
  22. As expected the second big batch of showers approaching yorkshire is now lightning up as it hits the warmer air
