  1. Admire the optimism but can't see anything happening tonight apart from that storm in holland tracking up the north sea and giving eastern fringes scotland a good hiding come the morning. Just look at that big storm i9n france die as soon as it hit the english channel... Some nice photos of clouds but none look that threatening at all.
  2. Are you shaw you haven't just taken one of those 'humdingers' we usually see over Germany/France and stuck it on a uk map??
  3. Now that is a propper storm! well isolated and not part of a messy cluster, lots of lightning and affecting a location for a good amount of time.
  4. It is moving NW but is also growing and expanding out so has that look about it.
  5. High level clouds firing up over central southern england now, coinciding with expected increased activity on latest gfs run 18z - 24z. Can see an large area of storms thundery rain developing and pushing north in next few hours, should be an interesting night.
  6. Looks like anywhere north and west of cambridge could get a storm this evening/tonight. Very encouraging that a storm has broke out so far east.
  7. Stop moaning, you get all the snow in winter can't have all the best weather! 2010 you got a fall of about 16" snow! while most missed out
  8. That's mother nature sticking her big middle sasusage finger up at each and every one of us!
  9. Haha that's definately cursed it! Be strange if storms tomorrow were more severe with temperatures upto 10c cooler though. I'm not expecting anything
  10. Yeah they just seem to explode once a storm moves over the dales. I remember living bottom of the chevin in otley and losing count the amount of cg's I'd see dancing over the hills around the mast to the north near blubberhouses.
  11. Yeah absolutely crazy that. I'm just suprised how weak the storms countrywide have been today, Generally pitifull lightning rates of upto 20/min. I've seen better storms from a north westerly in january!
  12. Absolute tosh. What does it take to get good storms in this country. That storm that passed leeds and went north through the dales, looked set to give barnard castle (of all places) a good hiding. Set up stall there just before it's arrival yet it died just a few miles before reaching.. Saw a couple of good cg's and a bit of heavy rainfall but that was it. I remember a few years ago a couple of storms that developed towards manchester and clobbered the yorkshire dales with strike rates of upto 300/min, that's the animal I'm after.

  14. Just missed us focus of that storm, had the odd flash and few rumbles of thunder. Think I'm gunna have dinner early then head north towards Thirsk. Not too fussed about missing that as there isn't a great deal of lightning yet. But I think there will be some monsters over the dales later into north yorkshire.
  15. Yeah were definately in for a direct hit now just wish the lightning activity would pick up. Watch it devlop into a supercell once passed here with lightning strikes of 200+min.. Was always the case when I lived in otley as storms moved through the dales.
  16. Looks like Yorkshire is about to get a pasting About time we got a good storm!
  17. Yeah the anvil is about overhead now yet the storm is about 25 miles away. Just hope the lightning can pick up when it gets here, like those storms over in france.
  18. I think it should just clip us, maybe a more direct hit if it keeps building to the west
  19. Can see the anvil of that storm near sheffield from here, looks a beauty
  20. Bang on cue starting to kick off. Couple sferics near nottingham and bit of rain on radar
  21. Yeah you might be right, I gotta feeling somewhere like vale of york is gunna get a pasting later but just a hunch
