    Not sure about that Feb, I don't recall a single post calling 'big easterlys', only possibilities. Might have more to do with your own interpretation of what you were reading.

    Don't be sorry, it's the weather for goodness sake. I seem to remember a little while back the same people saying the outlook was dismal, then the models started showing something interesting from nowhere. Then it's all quickly forgotten what was said. I've seen 'nailed' forecasts, patterns, evolutions, call it what you will - blow up at 72 hrs, so anything beyond that is to be consumed with a large pinch of salt.

    Not sure anything is on or off yet is it, at 6/7 days away? ECM hasn't finished rolling yet, GFS 18z to come and another day of runs tomorrow...

    No, not a fair shout for the reasons already explained, yes it's not the UK, but it can be a good indicator, especially if an easterly is on the cards.

    And just as I said earlier, 12z output has different ideas, too many 'experts' who know better. No doubt ECM will follow suit.

    Twas always thus, a small island in the middle of the ocean, as opposed to a giant continental land mass. Shouldn't come as any surprise really.

    I don't think anyone fell for anything, the 12z/18z may well show a similar theme to yesterday, just a day closer. I think some are a little quick to judge. It seems some will pick holes in the output whatever it shows, unless it's 12 week snowmageddon!

    Indeed, one or two as usual being slightly premature in calling it 'over'. ECM looks good to me with potential to extend a cold spell

    Good lord, we haven't even got the Notherlies out of the way yet, never mind an Easterly in FI! And if they have had to 'tweak' their own model, as they know it is wrong in the short term, what hope do longer term tools have?!?
