  1. I have been dying to say this for a while but has the hunt for cold gone cold? Would be interesting to see what the clusters indicate in the EPS - I guess the *trend* is towards lower heights across Greenland than previously advertised. Let's see...
  2. I am a coldie - cold can wait till December. Bring on the October warmth! ECM looks great medium term, especially in the SE.
  3. Pure perfection for October - lets' hope it verifies Frosty! This evening's ECM not quite as good sadly...
  4. Probably O/T but it is pertinent to remember that positive or negative anomalies do not necessarily translate to High and Low Pressure. It is an anomaly from the mean climatological pressure - so higher than normal pressure to the north does not necessarily mean an area of high pressure there but rather a reduction of the usual westerly flow. Only when anomalies are significant can we be confident of making assertions one way or the other
  5. After today's ghastly rain, looks like being fine and dry for at least 10 days with temperatures probably averaging at close to average. Let's hope for a dry, fine and warm October! 9.3C and rain here.
  6. You truly are nuts! Oct 1987 caused huge destruction and brought significant misery to many. We do NOT want that!
  7. Yes, limited support from the other NWP this evening (UKMO and ICON following this morning's ECMWF with a much shallower system affecting southern parts).
  8. UKMO has the deep depression further north but ECMWF and the latest ICON not interested.
  9. Is it too early to be talking abut Winter? Anyway, the latest seasonal JMA *suggests* a lot of northern blocking. The ECMWF is fairly similar too...
  10. So back to coolish Atlantic driven gunk then? Nah, the summer was amazing. There will be a few (odd) people like you who didn't appreciate the summer but the vast majority I know loved it!
  11. 20-minute cloud-burst here - a heavy shower running SE through London by the looks of it. 14.7C
  12. Moderate convection here in SW London - whether a cell forms from this who knows?
  13. Intense thunderstorm here. Continuous lightning (most of it c-c).
  14. The final value is 9.8C (corrected up for a change!). https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/hadobs/hadcet/cet_mean_2018
