  1. Weather here has been atrocious today, so thought I would cheer myself up by looking at the long range CFS for some late spring sun and warmth. Think I'm going to bed
  2. I thought it was because if you turned it upside down the PV looks a bit like Dumbo sat down? Dam,blast...i'll get there
  3. Forgetting the Xmas weather for a moment, this ECM chart with split HG TPV has my eyes lighting up!
  4. See what you are saying TSNWK, there are lower heights over greenland on the 06z to the 12z. But , there is more energy flowing beneath Greenland on the 12z which may go on to flatten everything out with little fuss
  5. Sometimes I guess, yes, but sometimes...most of the time, it's just looking for hope & possibilities rather than fact
  6. Xmas far from determined, but looking the period between Xmas and New year, thats starting to grab my attention looking at ecm clusters. Although they are clusters 3 & 4, maybe clue to what is just out of sight.
  7. They are on wetter? And yes, some pretty decent charts if you take off the 'looking for nirvana 1090hpa Greenland high glasses
  8. Yes that seemingly perennial nemesis-the Canadian trop PV, is at least on the move on the EC 12z later frames
  9. Although hardly a fantastic chart, I think this GFS average for Xmas eve would be pretty chilly with 850's not far off the -5s. Plenty of showers feeding in on cold(ish) polar maritime, inland with a bit of height could do ok
  10. Yeah, it is a shocking place for snow isn't mate, certainly north of Cheshire it seems.
  11. Fantastic! They are so lucky. Down at the Ribble estuary we have had nothing, been nice most of the week though (pic taken Thursday at Lytham)
  12. Know what I'm doing today, doing exactly as your name suggests and heading north
  13. Totally, my brother said he travelled over Dumail raise to Thirlmere and there was virtually nothing over there Quite often the Helvellyn range creates a distinctive east west doesn't it but today it was helm crag
  14. Chuffin Eck! That is some wind storm for July if it came off, with leaves still in limpet mode on the trees there will be some leaning going on!
  15. Although true, seasonal lag of the ocean temps can mean that polar maritime air flows in March can be less marginal for snow than in December, even taking the stronger sun into account (mostly useless though as the sun will make sure it doesn't hang about long)
  16. Actually think it can feel less cold with lower DPs even if the air temp is lower. Less moisture tends to feel less cold, even when it's colder on a thermometer
  17. But isn't a nor'easter an antlantic born system? i.e bringing north east winds to coastal us states?
  18. It's akin to the south east being hot and sunny in the summer. It's not always that way but it gets the lion share of nice summery weather. There are occasions where Scotland has the warmest and sunniest weather but default is the SE
