i go for the typical scientists cop out, time was created in the big bang so you cant even ask the question
-
Well, what a waste of time, the first chunk has missed and the second chunk out to sea looks like going the same way. Had some exceptionally light flurries a few minutes ago, but that looks like it with the cloud breaking and thinning.
A complete reversal of the last few days. have been completely dry in the south of the region whilst the snow plowed into the north, looks like it may be our turn at last
-
It is travelling more N-S now rather than NE-SW, and looking at the radar I'm too far inland and it will slip just to the East of me, might just catch the edge. Middlesbrough, Stockton, Billingham, Yarm etc are bang in line to get pasted.
Thats good news he he
And as far as mid table mediocraty goes, thats good news too, i'm a barnsley fan and we are becoming very hard to beat!

afternoon, what chance for boro, looks promising
-
Amazing that just a few miles south we have had nothing over the last few days. I wonder if we may get a covering tonight?
-
Actually thornaby lol
how much has there been in Thornaby tonight?
-
Is it me or is the precip in the north sea off scotland starting to head more towards our region now?
-
I was thinking of the batches out in the North Sea- I thought the forward one was likely to catch the South Shields/Sunderland area but it could swing to the south of the area, in which case there's another lot to the north of it heading in behind.
What do you think of the chances for the boro area? I could have sworn looking at the radar that we were in for quite a lot this evening but it seems to be petering out as it makes landfall, I have also heard people talking about tomorrow whereas the meto say showers will be dying out tomorrow, does anyone know whats going on!

Latest radar does look very promising, string a few together tonight and we could get a few inches
-
I have also... TWS mentioned that we we have had a flow of showers from the NE, but as they have hit land they have been taken away with a northerly flow... Makes sense having watched every radar picture output today!
Now the flow has switched to a more easterly direction, we should start to see the showers push more in land and not fizzle out as much. There are some nice echos out to sea which would give a great covering if they happened
Down in Yarm we had a few more cm over night. Been a remarkable cold spell, have had snow on the gorund outside every day since Dec 17th and its a while since we had that length of cold. Not sure what the chances are for tonight, radar makes frustrating viewing with showers always out to sea then faiding out as they make land fall.

Same here its started to get going again.
A friend of mine just rang from Lancashire who was amazed at his current snowfall especially as this was predicted.
Seems like the main band went to NW England instead of NE England.
Strange TEITS that the main band was due to arrive here at 6PM and give maybe 7-8hours snowfall. Looking at the radar it seems that the main band of heavy snow has already gone through. I wonder if precipitation will keep pepping up?
-
is that white blob of cloud going to produce precipitation? if it does it could give a few hours of it here
-
wow, i havent seen it snow like this for years. combined with the stuff blowing around off roofs etc its almost whiteout outside, so cool
-
Im going for 2cm by the morning here.
I hope my guess is well off the mark though
i think tats about right, the main event monday into tuesday is what concerns me. we will see
-
Come on then guys, what are we expecting? Although i would love to think this is a major event on the cards my experience tells me to expect maybe a couple of centimetres over the next few days.
-
wasnt ment to be this much till 9pm, so this is good!
there isnt a cloud in the sky here just outside wakefield, stars are out, cold but nice evening
-
I have no idea whether its snow or freezing fog or whatever but its white over here, maybe 1/4 inch, enough to see tracks of cars etc. You can see the precip in the lampost light. Bizarre really, most we have had all winter!
-
be patient
You expecting anything john? The main band is still well south of us and in heavier bursts i am now getting light snow more than sleet even at 90m asl, you never know later when it gets colder
-
Getting lift rain here with the odd flake so i guess thats it for us. Am gutted
-
6 inches now and counting ....
brilliant picture, i bet he's loving it!
-
WOOHOO! the blizzard has started! Finally some snow to west yorkshire!
Snowing moderatly now, lovely white flakes... temperature slowly dropping with bags of precipitation to the south. tonight shud be fun!
Hay mate, i'm between barnsley and wakefield. May be we'll get something after all?
-
had about 2cm settled since it started today on top of what was left looks really impressive and it continues to fall extremely heavy very entertaining i think its falling at a rate of about 4cm an hour
