I'm sitting here sweating, it's been over 10C all afternoon and normally by mid-Feb I have had at least one weekend pruning the shrubbery in my shorts. Is this really going to happen??? -
Why not? That's been the story of winter 2018 imby. I just can't let myself get excited about this after the bitter disappointments of the last few years. I shall hereby stop being a party pooper and get me coat...

Felt it here in Southampton. Probably only cause I'm lying down in bed, nobody else in the house felt it. Shaking is just like an HGV thundering down the road, only there's no noise. I felt the 2am Warwickshire one in 2008 as well, so at least I knew it wasn't poltergeists this time! ?

I grew up in Portswood and now I'm the other side of the river in Bitterne Park. I remember a few good (if short-lived) snow events in the 80s - my school always seemed to be closed because the heating would go down. So we'd spend the day rampaging on the common and skating on the lakes until we got too wet and cold. No websites or texts to parents back then! ??

Temp is falling here in soton, too. From a high of 4.3 at 10am and now down to 3.2. I don't think that was forecast? Any chance of back edge snow???

I've found I can see posters' locations if I turn my tablet to landscape mode. Not a flake for me all day. Watching the snowman. 1.5c, dp 0.0c, wb 1.0c.

Nope. Temp has been falling but there's been no ppn for about an hour. Not holding my breath for anything more than a dusting overnight. Currently 2.6, low bottomed out at 973mb, max gust this morning 42.2mph.

Piddling down now, but trying very hard to sleet. Temp fell as rain intensified. 2.8c, w e/se although has been veering n/e. Dp now -0.1 and rising. Dp 1.7c. Tea and buttered crumpets.
