  1. Yes, I saw diamond dust in the security light last night. I remember it during the daytime falling out of what looked to be a clear blue sky in 2010. Wonderful stuff!
  2. The snow that fell for an hour or so last night didn't settle and the ppn turned to sleety drizzle on the back edge. I don't even think there was much ice this morning - despite nearly 20mm falling yesterday - because the wind dried everything up very quickly. I don't hold out any hopes for today. If we do get clipped by the western edge of that mass the temp is currently 3.2C, with a DP of -2.3C. Humidity is 67%. Wind in the west and gusty. Sunny.
  3. 1.4C, DP -1.8C. Humidity 79%. Hence none of those showers making it down here!
  4. Temp up to 0.8C and DP above freezing. Sleet. Mind you the wind chill is going down. Just had -7.1C.
  5. I really should go on a skiing holiday. Maybe get it all out of my system...
  6. Aw, we had to have our lovely old husky pts last week. I was hoping to get one more snowy walk with her before the end. Oh well... Hope you get some nice times in the next couple of weeks.
  7. WE HAVE SNOW! First in 5 years Big, fat, wet flakes. Ground sodden. 1.3C, DP -0.2C. Wet bulb 1.6C. Wind WNW, gusting 15mph. 16.5 mm rain.
  8. It's turning in Southampton. Definitely big flakes going sideways in the strongest gusts. 1.5C, DP just hit 0.0. Wind chill -0.6 to -1.5. Might get an hour of light stuff before the maind band clears...?
  9. Temp 2.9C, wind chill -1.6. DP 1.4 and humidity 90%. Some sleety flakes occasionally amongst the rain. 14mm so far.
  10. Temp falling away in Southampton now, despite heavy rain. Wind NW and gusting 12mph. Temp 3.8C, DP 2.6C.
  11. And the wind has veered again! Round to WNW at times. Pressure and DP falling rapidly. Imma go "work from home" soon
  12. Chucking it down, temp dropped a little to 5.6C. However the wind has veered round dramatically to ENE. Is this the start of the cold front or just a squall line passing through?
  13. 5.7C, DP 3.4C, WB 4.7C. All rising. 1012mb. Fine drizzle just started. Just arrived at work and I'm on here before I've opened my emails! I wish I was one of those people who could just.... Let It Go!
  14. BBC says 2 hours of heavy snow around 5-6pm (but I really can't see that happening), accompanied by strong winds of 46mph. I won't be able to enjoy it, with dear hubby having to drive back from Bournemouth in it. Friday forecast is for full sun all day so looks I shall have to go into work. Bah, humbug!
  15. Liam Dutton on Facebook 2 hours ago: "Increasing hints of easterly wind next week, bringing cold air from Europe. *IF* it happens, daytime temps barely above 0C - even in south." Pretty little gif, too.
  16. Hat-tip Barry of Frogmore over in The Other Place: Yellow warning of snow for Devon on Thursday: http://www.exeterexpressandecho.co.uk/snow-warning-for-devon-now-issued-for-thursday/story-30041733-detail/story.html#64WjoY4IGiKurgl7.99
  17. Haha! And Man With Beard is the first to mention the M4 Corridor on the MAD thread. Is he banned from coming in here now?
  18. BBC currently offering me cold rain and a Southerly breeze at 3pm on Thursday, then at 6pm snow and a Northerly gusting to 43mph. Looks like a hellish drive home followed by a return to the status quo by 9pm. This is just not good enough
  19. Max today was 3.5C and just hit 0C. -3.1C at 8am this morning but it didn't hit freezing point until 1am so I'm not convinced that it's going to be any milder tonight.
  20. Ah, man! It's so close! WB 1.9c. apparent temp -2
  21. Well spotted, Chul! I was just on there and totally failed to spot the big snowflakes lol.
  22. -1.5C this morning. Clear where I am currently but the weather forecaster on the Today programme sounded quite freaked out by the fog on her way into work this morning so be careful everyone!I
  23. Just reached 0C here, with a very hard frost. I shall enjoy a bit of seasonal weather but feel sorry for everybody who has to go out to work in it. Merry Christmas, everyone, and here's to at least one lamp-watching all-nighter!
  24. I don't *think* it lasted here until Christmas Day, although I just remember that winter as being wonderful - the best snow I've ever seen. The closest I've seen is snow on Boxing Day, maybe 2009? (really ought to keep records!) It's got to happen for us one day, though, doesn't it?
