  1. Thanks for your input Summer Sun its nice to think that someone so detached from this area is thinking of us. I personally have not seen a single snow flake this winter as indeed winters past. Its not so much for me but the Grandchildren who I would love the possibility of building a snowman with. Memories like that are priceless.
  2. So many conflicting reports expert opinions and assumptions over the period next week with many now going with their gut feeling in the MAD thread. All I can say is I would hate to have to live on those sentiments lol.
  3. The last straw for me in the MAD thread was when a Glasweigan Braveheart posted quote "lots of rain for the southern softies ". My reply would have got me red carded for a week so I had to grit my teeth lol. Cmon England in the Rugby later.
  4. ECM great for cold out to day 10 then a reload from NE. For us down here at present its all eyes fixed on the development of the low Thurs.night into Friday. Further north could mean a few hours of snow turning to rain. More to the south then epic blizzards. Still time for changes from all models and more runs needed. I don't know about you lot but I need a prescription for something to calm my nerves and something a bit stronger than gin lol. Its agonising just waiting for the next set of runs. I need to take the mutt out for a good long walk.
  5. Its my birthday on the Ist March. Give me a blizzard for a present lol I am easily pleased.
  6. The wording no immediate concerns of snow is the factor here. Detailed snow prediction for more than 3 days ahead can be taken with the biggest pinch of salt you can muster. Snow forecasting is arguably the most difficult and complicated thing to forecast. Quite commonly unexpected factors can arise and throw off all predictions.
  7. Being pessimistic by nature all this extreme ramping of the day after tomorrow has strangely turned me into a masochist. If I don't get 5 foot of snowfall severe frostbite and snow blindness from returning from the local store in a raging blizzard I may be disappointed.
  8. Lol. Someone asked me the other day how my wife was and I said, I don't know I haven't talked to her in a month. He then said oh dear "have you fallen out?" I said no I am too scared to interrupt her.
  9. Just had a power cut for about 20 mins whole of area out can any one else confirm.
  10. Unsure whether its been mentioned on here but lag that outside tap. If you can isolate it before the outlet even better but make sure to drain the water out and unclip any hoses. If you cant disconnect the supply then lag the pipes and tap making sure you get behind any outside pipes running up outside walls. If you haven't got any fibreglass or pipe lagging then anything that is waterproof even rags covered with plastic bags. May not look very slghtly lol but believe me a burst water pipe in a thaw can do a lot of damage so check your insurance policy just in case.
  11. I had better leave off the baked beans then and have a hot water bottle ready to sit on.
  12. After 12 years on this forum my weeble is coming off the fence tomorrow evening if the output remains as good. Hopefully to be able to apply some colour to it after its been battered by a blizzard.
  13. Yeah I would like to see it all shunted further south for more longevity for us down here.
  14. We have a little long haired Chihuahua just 2 years old anything more than 6" snow in the garden and we have a problem lol.
  15. For me with the good possibility of snow this time is not having to worry about those nagging doubts of South of the M4, away from the coast and marginal.
  16. If it gets as cold as they say everyones balls will too shrivelled to respond to any request lol.
  17. Being a natural sceptic I agree. Having been led down the garden path so many times before get it within 72 hours then my scepticism will change to optimism.
  18. GFS is only bad from a coldies view point Being a snow lover and not seeing a single snow flake yet again for another winter and not wanting to be led up the garden path anymore GFS ops suggesting 15 degrees plus by day 10 look good to me now so bring it on I say.
  19. I was reading a report from the Met Office this morning which said quote. UK weather latest. Britain braces for arctic temperatures as sudden stratospheric warming ushers in big freeze. The phenomenon which causes the stratosphere to heat up very quickly greatly increase the risk of wintry weather the Met Office said and could usher in arctic temperatures from Tuesday onward. But they are still waiting to see how the atmosphere will respond as in previous years it has led to a disruption of the jet stream. Could be the reason why the models cant get to grips on what the hell is happening up there lol.
  20. If those are the charts Ive just viewed on the hope casting thread wow only 11 days away. Do you think I should warn my neighbours as we live at the bottom of a hill lol.
  21. I would wait for the usual cries from the mad thread of" we are going to get buried and this could be life threatening " before you pass judgement lol.
  22. Well I personally haven't seen one single snowflake this winter and as per usual do not expect to see any change in that outlook. Its the same every year living here in this micro climate. Model output full of promise always collapsing when the event draws near. Without wishing to sound an old misery I would rather now the models didn't show any cold spell then I could avoid another probable disappointment and concentrate on looking forward to the spring. Its a lovely day today and I just want more of the same and to feel the sun on my back. I find it astonishing that many posters in the MAD thread with the realisation that there isn't going to be any snow comment with "At least its going to be cold" Cold for colds sake doesn't do it for me.
