  1. I've seen some Great Vlogs of the storms that form in that area, truly epic stuff. So good luck for today, the weather gods really do have a few debts to pay don't you think.
  2. Wow, that's sounds amazing! Has this years so called "storm season" driven you to the extreme of travelling across the Atlantic at great expense, or had you already signed up? I can't wait to hear all about it as it's definitely something I want to do at some point in the future, until then I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some action while I'm in France, there's usually a storm or two when we're over there and it's hotting up just as we arrive otherwise I'm facing my first storm free season in a very long time Good luck with the storms! Feel free to send some this way if you can
  3. There are a few reports from Belgium and the Netherlands floating around on social media
  4. Just the warmup act before the main show? Definitely worth keeping tabs on, good luck
  5. Thanks, looking at the forecast it does show cloud increasing from 2am, so we'll see, this will probably be my last chance for this year, so fingers crossed Hope it clears up for you.
  6. Thanks, I might just head off to bed then and set the alarm, they appear to be quite bright which bodes well for later, and they're reasonably high. Hopefully the it stays clear like it is now, the conditions here right now are perfect
  7. This is also looking positive Does that translate to a morning display, or might we just get something before midnight?
  8. Different cam same clouds, I don't know how close they are together
  9. Just scanning through the European webcams. Can't tell these are cirrus clouds or not
  10. It's the my lightning tracker app, only I have it in dark mode, which is why it looks different
  11. We have a couple of rogue false returns on lightning maps, I checked the lightning app to see if the were also showing on there, as you can see, the Uk storm shield is fully operational Still waiting for the first real storm of the year
  12. This is a post that can be safely placed in the clutching at straws pile, but what are the chances for southern coastal areas in the next few hours? Showers are starting to form as they leave the french coast, and are moving this way Things are getting desperate down here
  13. For those of you that are worried about the post frontal airmass not having the properties to generate stormy goodness, well it still feels very muggy and the radar gives me hope for some decent storms in favoured spots later this afternoon, just a shame this is not happening during the dark hours
  14. Milford on sea about 20 minutes ago This lot looked very dark, but it didn't appear to be doing much. enjoy the storms to whoever gets them Unfortunately it's a near miss again for my area, but there's still plenty of time to get some decent storms
  15. Definitely, the Salisbury cell is real, went to have a look to my north and immediately saw a flash, something may also be developing over Bournemouth/Poole
  16. Hi Chris, the photo was taken using night sight on the Google pixel 6, if your phone is relatively modern, you may have something similar, nothing fancy really, the phone/software does all the work, plus the moon is up tonight, which is providing a decent amount of light to illuminate the clouds.
  17. It feels very ripe outside, and really breezy And we have this passing overhead, it's definitely trying , I can see the Portsmouth cell flashing away nicely from here! You can see something developing on the last image I've attached
  18. Wowsers, that thing appeared fast! Too far east for me unfortunately unless something develops further west, good luck to anyone in the firing line
  19. This is looking towards the IOW direction from where I am, and this has just appeared on lightning maps, can anyone confirm?
  20. Whatever happens, you look to be in a decent location, that cell that's east of the IOW and about to make landfall is heading you way isn't it? Could be a nice surprise on the way! One thing to note, it's rather breezy here in Christchurch
  21. Showers now forming east/southeast of the IOW, will or won't they?
  22. Definitely worth keeping an eye on them, i wouldn't be surprised if get something half decent in the early hours, however, this years storms season has been so pants for our area! makes me think we'll end up with nothing.
  23. Worth keeping an eye on the skies closer to home, it's hard to tell due to it being early but I'm seeing some bright patches to my north, way above the crud layer, might be nothing but let's see what happens. Very encouraging for the early hours though, regardless of how the next couple of hours turn out, the weather may not play ball, I might set the alarm and have a peek outside to see if it's clear Edit It's starting to cloud over so can't be totally sure but I think what I saw was just high cloud, good luck this evening to those heading out, It could be a cracker
  24. Lovely photo That looks like great place to shoot.. the scenery that is, not the antisocial D#!@Heads Sad to hear of your experience with this type of behaviour, but I also have the same problem. The place I've been going for years has now turned into a meet-up area for boy/girl racers, loud music, drifting in the carpark littering all over the place, the list goes on! And it doesn't feel as safe as it once was It's a real shame, and the police don't seem to care
  25. It's nice to have something to pin our hopes on at least even if it doesn't come to anything, also I get feeling this season is going to throw up some real surprises.
