Stark contrast between G Asby and Appleby today. Just 3.6mm there. Looking on the radar you were just on the edge of heavy rain over the southern half of Cumbria. Nothing notable here, wetter on Monday. Interesting day tomorrow.
Lovely winters day, doesn't feel cold in the strong sunshine. Perhaps March/April provide the wintry weather that this tepid winter has failed to provided so far.
Yet another dry month for the NE ?
SE has done very well the last few years. Dec 2010 the rapid thaw on the 9th ment there was more snow in central London than on the summits of the Pennines.
Max 1.4c. Doesn't feel cold in the increasingly strong sunshine.
Never had high hopes for this spell of weather. Yet surprised at lack of real cold and frosts so far in the NE.
Roll on spring, perhaps that will provide some dynamic weather.
Snow levels appear lower on N Pennines than just to the South. About 4cm at 500m asl at 0630z pnh the way to work. Sleet here at Brough, prob snowing still back in Teesdale.
Looking yet another dry month for NE England a few places could struggle to reach 20mm. The dominance of westerly winds over the last 12 months has been amazing.
Spring like today. Lack of snow on Western slopes of N Pennines pretty rare for time of year. More drifts on the Lakes Mts but more like April than mid winter.
Appalling forecast from Meto/BBC. 81mph Shap, 78mph Keswick and 112mph at GDF. Not even an Amber Alert for wind. Surely once observations are made which contradict forecasts changes should be made and alerts issued. Useless at times.
At long last some sunshine. Blustery wind, drying up overnight rain.
Temp 4.5C
Update, sunshine didn't last long. Shrs making it over the Pennines already.
