  1. Meto model still going for shrs developing across NE England. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/beta/weather/forecast/?tab=map Here, 5th day 0900z snow lying ahead, not much more than dusting so far. Temp 0.7C.
  2. Just come back from Cumbria, snow lying again above roughly 400m, drifting covering road. Snowing here but no settling yet. Temp 1.7C
  3. I think the biggest issue in this region today has been flooding not the wind. This element of weather wasn't even mentioned in any forecasts I have seen.
  4. Not surprised rivers high in Upper Eden with the snow melt. If the rain had persisted it could have been a serious situation. Eden should fall fairly quickly, brief flooding on the sands maybe.
  5. Well and I thought you were waving at me and not Mr Glendining. Cold front gone through, temp down to 5.4C rainfall rate 66mm/hr with hail and rain as front passed.
  6. Yes, you did cut a sorry sight yesterday crossing the road in Appleby.
  7. Perhaps a few cm's from a weak from moving South tonight, being further West you should see more than here. I think ice will be the greater harzard esp for the eldery and infirm. Here's meto rainfall model http://www.metoffice...recast/?tab=map
  8. Its going to be slippy underfoot the next few days with all this surface water going to freezing and some more snow.
  9. Wet start to the day in G/Asby, here 15.6mm so far. Just 1mm in the desert like Newton Aycliffe further East. Love your intro's to the other regional threads.
  10. You might get some snowfall from this featue on Friday. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack0a.gif Meto rainfall mode l http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/beta/weather/forecast/?tab=map
  11. After a few mostly sunny hrs snow shrs are back. Temp 1.1C
  12. Got say I'm not convinced with this new warning system. Its hard to see when the several types of warning are overlaping each other. Also, why not mention the wind speeds in the alerts. There is a cold weather alert for parts of England but now no severe weather warnings regarding snow.
  13. Meto appear to have precipiation linked to this event further West, so looks like we will miss out. Just had a drive up the valley snow still drifting across the highest routes. Temp back home, 1.8C.Dry and sunny at present. Lots of winter to come, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this December turns out to have more snowfall than last years December in the N Pennines.
  14. Still 100%snow cover remaining but surprised if lasted into the afternoon. Snow shrs Temp 1.6C
  15. http://www.teesdale.co.uk/ http://www.teesdalediscovery.com/ These links may help you. Warming up now was down to -1.4C earlier
  16. Lovely winters day lots of sunshine, despite temp rising to 1.1C no evidence of any thaw. Temp fell back to -1.4C, now -0.8C with approaching precipitation. Decent snowfall in the Stainmore area, much more snow there than further west around Shap or Troutbeck/Penruddock area. Must over 15cm with drifts 2/3ft on Durham side of border. 17. Compared to N Pennines there is an amazing amount of traffic in the Peak District. Luckly here the local ploughs/gritters are free to just clear the roads. Teesdale's gritting/ploughing service is excellent far better than over the border in Cumbria.
  18. Doesn't look that much snow near Flash. The busy roads in the Peak District appear to add to any snow related problems. http://www.privateca...flashbarcam.jpg
  19. Just unlucky the NE wind flow wasn't that strong. Very Rapid thaw on 8/9th ment only a couple of inches remained for rest of the month. Dont want a repeat of last year.
  20. Hopefully much better season than last year, only the odd day skiing after 8th Dec. Pretty poor. N Pennines missed out today really, some nice drifting in the westerly wind though. Snow depth not enough for skiing. http://www.yadmoss.co.uk/
  21. Just gone below freezing, looks dry for few hours, shr action looks to across Lake District then Western Yorkshire Dales
  22. Hopefully there will much more over the coming winter months.
  23. That wasn't you behind my house attemping to sledge on a bit of plastic was it? View from garden looking SE, altitude 360m asl.
  24. Sunny skies at the moment, looks like another shr coming along in an hour or so over SW Scotland, going for walk in the winter sunshine. Temp 0.6C, DP 0.2C WC -4C
