  1. Seasonal weather of yesteryear first. Winter Nov 21st - april 22nd Spring April 22nd - June 21st Summer June 21st - August 21st Autumn August 21st - Nov 20th. :o As for the average season now. Winter Dec 1st - March 15th Spring March 15th - May 15th. Summer May 15th - September 21st Autumn September 22nd - Dec 1st. And this year I`d put it like. Winter about 20 days(25 days) Spring in March just and Summer in April and early June and most of august and the first half of september perhaps. The rest was a very very very long autumn.
  2. Last september was 16.8c and was the warmest on record smashed. The 2 previous years were warm too. 2nd warmest was 1953 We`re due a cooler september this year and a dry one I think. Considering I`ve overdone the last 2 months which looks likely for august also I`ll go for 13.9c.
  3. An autumn like 1986 would be nice cold and dry with lots of ground/air frosts down to -5c and 42 days without rain I wish. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119860919.gif An week/10 day indian summer is always welcome in October but not outstaying it`s welcome like last autumn. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119850930.gif Expect it`ll be cooler overall to recent years and wetter to normal but maybe some warmer drier spells aswell. As for november well thats too far out yet.
  4. Nothing noticeable here since had a light shower/a sharper one yesterday evening and an extra 1mm of rain. I did notice the wind change direction to a north/NE as the lower clouds were seen all of a sudden this morning but a light wind. I would describe this low as a gentle giant in most places especially here. Heavy showers about on the radar though in bands.
  5. There`s no doubt about that this is the deepest summer low so far our glass hasn`t been this low for awhile 990mbs now and still going down. http://85.214.49.20/pics/brack0.gif Heavy rain in northern england now dry and sunny at times here and humid 18.6c.. looks like more patchy rain or a few showers heading this way on the radar.
  6. Looks like you`ve had 1 inch then. Overhyped so far just light patchy rain here amounting to 5mm(0.2inches) And a gentle S-ly maybe moderate at times. Slowly becoming somewhat brighter from the south as this light drizzly stuff has stopped and it feels muggy.
  7. Wind mean speeds 30mph in places which from the south which I don`t mind from that direction and also find a S-ly isn`t usually that strong here anyway when forecast and looking at the fax it`s the south/coasts central east and SW Wales that gets the strongest winds and what XC map shows too. http://85.214.49.20/pics/brack0.gif Some very patchy rain showing on the radar at the moment it doesn`t look like it`ll dampen the dust yet ...dry but getting cloudy here and calm.
  8. Last night was chilly 6.9c and I make it the coldest august night for 12 years. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119950809.gif If only we could have a high like that now.
  9. Only just passed that today at 24.5c as it`s gone cloudy.
  10. Temps did drop to 7.7c here so 1.3c lower than the last cool night this month that making that the coolest July night here with maxes looking a touch lower to yesterday perhaps.
  11. Made 21.4c in april and 24.1c June 11th but on my old mercury thermometer it hasn`t got above 20c yet which is very unusual makes 23-26c on a normal summer as a rule..don`t know why those always read temps lower but it is under a tree, and I did make 31c last year on it!!!
  12. Oh yes wrong chart. I`ll post this instead not much difference by the looks of it.
  13. It does look rather chilly monday night. I`ll believe that when I see it..9.0c is the lowest I`ve had so far this July be interesting to see how low it does get to drop the CET down aswell with sunny days it`s like a cold HP in winter.
  14. I maybe punting a little lower than I want at 16.7c but August will be much drier to recent months hope... but not necessarily overly warm with how cool/wet July has been and the soil is sodden with everything saturated or flooded,so cooler nights are very likely under clear skies with it been damper more dew. And the last time 16.7 was reached was 1906 so it`s overdue.
  15. Well that doesn`t surprise me how wet this summer has been the 80`s were nowhere near as wet as this summer and since friday I`ve recorded 4.2inches of rain which is totally crazy. :o Well the title of this thread says "when will the rain stop" well it`s stopped 3 hours ago no more proper rain here now for a week-10 days... a few odd showers light rain are possibly yes... confident you bet.
  16. Yesterdays damage after those heavy downpours. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/mid/6911303.stm Drier now with the sun trying to come out but even now cumulus are building up in a few places east and west under high cloud.
  17. These showers are still developing quite widely at this time of night around here to the west/NW/N with a couple of Tcu and a CB reminds me a little of one night in October 2004. Also had another shower here too.
  18. Hi Paul. Interesting thread. Well there`s no doubt that it`s the wettest summer I`ve ever seen and thats a fact and everyone else I know say the same and there`s a long way to go yet. It`s affecting everything around here farming is getting hit the worst though. 1988 was a cold wet summer but June was warm and settled there`s been no restbite at all now except the beginning of June. As for temps July 1988 was cold 14.7 CET now if this month comes close to that say 15c then that is some achievement after all the warmth earlier. Feb 2005 was a pattern change to me but last year made methink otherwise with too much record breaking heat but if we get a colder than normal winter or more easterlies/N-ly blocking and a lows tracking like this summer or even further south then maybe something is amiss. What is the max temp this summer so far and what about the 70s/80s max temp summer one for Mr Data I think.
  19. Had a couple heavy showers one was very heavy but not long lasting like those earlier, still showers west and SE but it actually looks drier to the south.
  20. It`s warmer here now and was sunny but there`s lots of Tcu`s shooting up south/SW into a CB as they`ve changed direction to a more S-ly direction it could turn thundery so more heavy showers to come this way wow!!!
  21. What`s the odds that this month maybe the coolest month since 1993/15.2c or even 1988!! 14.7c with only maxes of 19c forecast this coming week on countryfile, though that could change. Might aswell look for a cold July now. As was cold last night too.
  22. That`s another 0.5 inches rain from those heavy showers but no thunder and there`s still showers over the west but stopped here.
  23. And it`s the severn of all places those heavy downpours are heading into. Heavy shower here now I give up!!
  24. Showers are bursting into live now on the radar further north in Wales with that very heavy shower still in the south. Light shower here and sunny but dark clouds approaching.
  25. Yes the countryside certainly does not lie and the hay is getting flat here havn`t cut no fields yet and with yesterdays very heavy rainfall we`ve gone back many steps not forward as the ground is so so wet even walking on fields you mark the ground. And too see fields of hay and corn in floods by the severn is unheard of in summer as I`ve never seen nothing like it, ice age yes it`s making me wonder what is going to happen next. Now that is hard work being a sheep shearer.
