  1. This must be another June month I`d pick aswell as 1980 and 1982 infact any month that had a thundery showers. We use to get some of the most severe/spectactular thunderstorms from the east or SE(infact I have seen the odd storm from the NE come to think about it) and as we`ve got an easterly now there could well be some interesting times ahead. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119790611.gif Not sure about that date but we use to get more memorable storms then, with blocking further north. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119800614.gif
  2. As a few have said if any thundery showers appear they`ll pop up inland and here and you`ll stay dry and still got those pleasant temps around 20/22c...don`t want it hot, hottest wedding I`ve been to it was 32c which was in the in the early 90`s. Have a great day anyway. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/avnpanel1.html
  3. Very heavy shower here too as the wind turned to the NW about an hour ago temp drop to 15.9c. It came out of the blue!!
  4. Started with clear blue 1st thing then fair weather cumulus bubbled up to TCu but no showers about yet,not much to the south just cumulus. It`s 19.1c so warmer already so may see a sharp thundery shower later if I`m lucky.
  5. Cheers for that I don`t take many pics as a rule. May see more of the same tomorrow just want it to warmer for thunder here though did see a TCU with pileus to the west also around the same time. http://85.214.49.20/pics/brack0a.gif
  6. Had a heavy shower mid-afternoon as it went very dark with a gusty wind best so far this year. Then later on saw a few stunning CB`s to theS/SE including this one nothing coming this way now as they are decaying. Did expect thunder from that and one just to the right of it as they were impressive. but nothing today.
  7. Still looks promising for June 9th with high pressure over the UK in a light east wind with temps of 17-20c which will probably be higher. detail will change though as ever.
  8. Min of 2.0c with a ground frost. Overcast this morning with rain/drizzle on and off and now at 9.0c in a very cool gentle SE breeze.
  9. I would of thought so... the only news it made was that it was the coldest day cricket was ever played and the low maxes were shown with 6.6c as the lowest...as for the 4.9c not sure where that was but thats a pretty cold day in an 80`s winter let alone end of May amazing!!!! To get record low temps is much harder to get these days so it should`ve made the headlines!
  10. I don`t think yesterday`s been counted yet quite, I say it may end up at 11.9c which is 0.6c above average. http://www.climate-uk.com/graphs/200705.htm This is interesting though with the 2nd coldest may day on record at Heathrow of 7.9c!!! colder than here on Sunday! http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_...st_weather.html
  11. 10.8c here with hazy sunshine/cirrostratus and cumulus with a fresh N-ly what a difference the sun makes with a low of 5.2c last night and cloudy.
  12. Currently raining as it has been all day 0.9inches in a cold N/N/E wind with temps peaking at 8.2c which is the coldest day I`ve recorded since March 21st.
  13. More likely get 4c at night, had a low of 2.2c last May 23rd. Edit This has got to be posted 2c over my place expect to see plenty of snow from those temps.
  14. Well I had temps of 12.3/12.5 and a min of 5.7c-15.7 for the last 3 days so I`ll know what to look for now,not as it`ll do me much good as I went for 12.9c.
  15. Totally agree there it`s the flowers that give it away and the leaves with the white underside, there`s none around here though. Beech it definately is not as you said quite alot of them around here.
  16. 15.5c for me Even June 1975 the CET was 14.7c after the very cold start, but looking at these very summary charts. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119750622.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119750608.gif
  17. If this were to come off which is highly doubtful at this long range the weekened looks very promising with HP building from the west/NW and pleasantly warm.
  18. I remember seeing the forecast for the coming week as we went visiting on the Sunday and how excited I was as it was half term so I`m not sure if that was it as it was a warm humid week and hazy with thunderstorms every afternoon and around lunchtime they started, from Monday to Friday as they came from the south/SE. Another month I`d pick would be April 2007 aswell as april 1989. This may of been the week. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119800605.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119800609.gif
  19. Years I`ll choose then are but there`s too much choice as there`s many others I`d select. January 1982 Heavy snow blizzards. February 1986 for the easterlies bitter cold snow/blizzards. March 1979 for the blizzards April 1989 for the cold easterlies and snow showers. May 1993 for the most amazing thunderstorms I`ve seen. June 1975 with the early snow or June 1980 I think it was when thunderstorms broke out everyday for 1 week awesome it was. July 1976 Got to have a hot dry spell. August 2004 with all those thundstorms/thunderyshowers September 1986 Early cold and frosts October 1974 which was very cold and had snow. November 1985 for the cold and snow December 1981 Coldest month ever with plenty of powdery snow.
  20. After that record breaking April with trees coming out 3 weeks earlier to normal most of the ash have yet to come out because of this cooler spell, some are still only in bud yet but ash don`t like frosts at all that`s why there`re so much later. But some larger trees are starting to come into leave now. Not much blossum on the hawthorn this year.
  21. Did you get any snow in June 1975 though at the beginning? March 1995 was another very snowy month here. Need I say more about Jan82 or dec81
  22. I`ll give you a June 9th 1992 forecast which is easy as we had thunderstorms. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119920609.gif Last year it was hot at 24c. And June 9th 1987 was cold/showery. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119870609.gif
  23. That must of been unusual aswell as I`ve never seen a severe gale in May so that was the strongest winds since 1990 as I`ve just checked, even the later half of the 70s and 80`s no more than strong or gale force as I can remember. Does anyone upnorth remember severe gales in May past years? May is usually remembered more for heatwaves/thunderstorms and late snow. Saying that here`s the fax no gale here anyway. NI/NW Scotland could well be in the fireing line though. Friday could be squally in the south too might just end up as windy as last week.
  24. This does look more like a winter storm looking at the GFS lots of cool air coming into the atlantic too. Just hope it`s bark is worse than it`s bite looking at NI in particular.
  25. Hi Mondy yes did notice this yesterday. A May storm for the North perhaps not something we see usually with gales/severe gales for the NW. Fresh or strong winds further south which is strong enough this time of year.
