  1. Here we have Stratocumulus a lower level cloud pic 1... and an Altocumulus which is a middle level cloud and 2 silver birch trees in the 2nd pic.
  2. It got down to 4.8c here last night and upto 7.6c today higher than yesterdays GFS said of 6c,but the max would be 1.5/2c higher on low ground. My call of 2.8c was way out It does look very mild later tomorrow,it`ll end up just over 6c I say 6.2c http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rtavn1217.png http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rtavn2417.png
  3. 7.5c for me I expect some warmer spells no doubt it`ll be wet/windy at times and a cold snap what march should be like a mixture.
  4. Temperature got down to 3.9c last night and clear for a time, and got upto 6.3c it`s felt cold again as the snow drifts look to be melting slower today too. It`s been cloudy most of the day with rain since 4 p.m.
  5. We`ve had rain/showers also with some thick fog an hour ago,it`s cleared up now,it`s still cold fairly here at 5.2c so it`s still a cold thaw here aswell around 20% cover with all the snow by the hedges/drifts..some very steeps fields opposite here are still covered over with snow, measured some in the shade where it hadn`t drifted with still 3 inches very sheltered there with lots of trees surrounding, light winds too. I see the weight of the snow did some damage too half uprooted a blackthorn tree and it did take the top of our damson tree off even after shaking the snow off the night before the freezing fog came that night and the snow got heavier as the temp rose slightly.
  6. Had some rain last night and the temp dipped to 2.1c as skies cleared making the top layer of the snow hard as we still got 5-6 inches on our lawn it`s slushy on the yard, temp is still struggling at 4.3c with a light SW.. and high cirrus/cirrostratus covering the sun with blue slies elswhere, just as well it`s just a steady thaw else it could of brought floods. Great views today as it`s cleared the mist the landscape is still white even into the valleys, noticed the one hill to our SE that there`s more green than white.
  7. It`s far from mild here now another night below freezing at -0.4c and hasn`t got above 2.4c yet with all this gloom/fog and thick snow cover temperatures will take quite a while to recover here make that 2c more for the midlands.
  8. Hi yes very impressive indeed,I`m 1000 feet asl but higher than that upto 360 metres on our land. Around 18 miles east from lake Vyrnway as the crow flies.
  9. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/index.html 11 hours of snow finally easing off still very fine light snow falling now which will drift,it`s been drifting slightly anyway since 5. If the winds got strong tonight and with all the snow about it`s gonna be fun, which with the next system coming in there`s going to be strong winds sometime. http://85.214.49.20/pics/brack0.gif http://xcweather.co.uk
  10. Yes I was noticied the radar how quick it`s approaching, It`s serious stuff everyone in the SE/south should come to these parts main roads should`nt be too bad not much chance to get uphere though
  11. You`ll have to take my word for it at the moment,I`ll try and scan some it`s not something I`m very good at get all the white background and only a small photo. My mum`s took some photos today but that was earlier around 6 inches then we`ll take some photos tomorrow should be unreal.
  12. You won`t belivie this with yesterdays snow we now have 11inches I don`t even need to look at my records for the 90`s as we didn`t have that amount it`s still snowing too it`s got to clear off soon I would of thought looking at the radar. If anyone wants to see a massive dumping come to Wales they are sure getting a battering today some places are stranded. There`s more heavy snow coming in the early hours and tomorrow morning more for the hills this time for Wales. Heaviest snow I`ve seen since then 80`s with more to come never thought I`d say that again. I tell you something when the thaw comes there`s going to be some big floods in these parts. Here`s the little fella doesn`t look much. http://85.214.49.20/pics/bracka.gif
  13. Heavy snow all afternoon we`ve had 6 inches so far today and it`s very heavy now the radar is mighty impressive.
  14. Heavy snow here now Started flakeing around 9ish earlier than expected as yesterday it showed it coming here in the afternoon. It was 1c now dropped to 0.5c. Wales could get another 4-6inches on the hills especially looking at the radar. Just goes to show we don`t need very cold upper air temps for snow in certain situations. http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rmgfs092.gif
  15. Hi Wintry Wales. Snow in south Wales in the morning then moving to central areas during the day then moving north. It`ll be cold enough as we`ll have an easterly breeze. http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rmgfs184.gif Wales seems to be the coldest spot.
  16. The temp got upto the dizzy heights of 0.0c today. Things have changed already snow moving further into south Wales tomorrow now and moving north. http://85.214.49.20/pics/brack0a.gif Here`s todays low. http://85.214.49.20/pics/bracka.gif
  17. Very light snow falling here and I mean very light. Looking at the radar I can see why
  18. That`s impressive 6 or 7 inches was forecast yesterday in places, seems further east has done well too, just over 3 inches here and 3 foot drifts. Wow you snow drought has certainly ended this winter thats 2.5 inches.
  19. Stopped snowing here now it was lighter than I expected overall 8cms with 2-3ft drifts made up for that It`s gone very foggy here freezing hill fog at -0.8c a tricky night`s driving. Very nice beeb forecast more snow here Saturday, brisk east winds tomorrow likeing these lows heading south makes it much more interesting. http://85.214.49.20/pics/brack0.gif Is that for real -9c skies will have to clear for that. http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rtavn1817.png http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rtavn2417.png Colder the better.
  20. Thanks for that Roger. I never saw the 6z run was making the most of the snow, but what I can see of the 12z is Saturdays low is further south to yesterdays run so another upgrade as far as I can see. http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rtavn481.png Liking the look of the fax chart there Nick, we`ve still got the easterly flow just UKMO is further north than yesterday meeting halfway it seems. Be great to get 2 more days to keep the snow fields and get some more drifting to go out with a bang on Saturday, but today`s been fab with 3 inches with drifting earlier. http://www.meteociel.fr/ukmo/run/UW48-21.GIF
  21. I know everyone`s concentrating on the snow now but I`ve just looked at the temps progged for the weekened and it`s still very cold but milder further SE the weekened is going to be a nightmare to forecast what comes if the 12z run came off. http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rmgfs784.gif http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rmgfs964.gif Tonight temps won`t be a problem though. http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rmgfs124.gif Where`s that all important wind direction coming from oh looking great :o http://xcweather.co.uk Currently -1.1c here and overcast,Wales had mins of -3c.
  22. That`s what I went for it would be amazing if it came off by the end of Feb. The way the charts keep backtracking lately.
  23. http://www.meteociel.fr/ukmo/run/UW72-21.GIF Easterly winds saturday
  24. Saturday does indeed look very sweet now and the fax charts looked good too. It gets better an better with these small upgrades as yesterday`s 12z run looked great but not as much as todays. http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rtavn601.png The low is to the south of us. http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rtavn901.png
  25. That some temp it got down to -5.7c here but my other thermometer read -7c at 8.00a.m. it just shows what differences it can make. It got down to -10 in Ludlow. It was also the coldest night since Dec 2005.
