  1. Could even be cooler than that with a more chillier east flow under rain as it shows 8/9c further west. Anyway the following day looks just as cool with lp well in charge over us. http://91.121.93.17/pics/Rtavn7817.png Mins are expected to get down to 5c tonight it is cooler than last night thats certain 7.4c here now and clear.
  2. Looks cold tomorrow night now with a good frost on GFS but especially in Ireland. Still 1c would help bring it down more in the CET zone if it comes to that.
  3. The milder/warmer air is taking more time to move in the SE. A temp range of 12c in manchester same here infact or just below now to 19c east anglia, 12c in luton airport 14c at heathrow airport. It will be cooler from tomorrow.
  4. Shows how busy I`ve been this month had to check back on this thread as it was 7.7c guess as I thought I went for for 7c Around that figure would be ideal don`t want that cold air going down the pan, as april 1998 and 2000 were also very similar. Today has certainly been one of the warmest days this month though.
  5. Last time april came below average was in 2001 at 7.7c there were a few sharper frosts that month to this and a few cold days much like today, still but a few warmer days also upto 13/14c here later in the month. So thats the target to go for now.
  6. Highest temps I had last summer was 24.1c in June then 24.5c in august. I like to see some heat and more especially humid conditions (but not too much) to get those thunderstorms otherwise fresher SW-lys air is no good well when is it any time of year although last year produced the goods anyway with lows piling over top of us in June, instead and one lovely warm evening SE-ly plume giving some cracking thunderstorms. And a warm or hot spell/ week to get the hay in also.
  7. Well I`ve probably mentioned this last year but the last time there was a cold N-ly in May was in 1997 with a mix of rain/sleet and snow showers with a slight covering of hail not here but just about half a mile away on our land which was memorable at the time in this year. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119970507.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00219970507.gif But the strangest thing about march and april didn`t even record a single hail shower or even sleet  let alone snow different to this spring
  8. Can`t say I`ve smelt anything out of the ordinary and I`ve just been out now after seeing this thread but it feels rather fresh out there it that wind.
  9. Last summer was a freaky one thats for sure never seen it so wet can`t see anything like that a one of a kind that was at least it dried up for august if still cool, although 2004 was a long drawn out one meaning much too wet with not enough dry spells plenty of thunder mind, who knows what this summer will bring lots of variety is all I ask for dry warm/hot spells mixed with fresher atlantic air and of course thunderstorms at times and humid S-ly and the odd cold wet day/2 like last summer to be refreshed if it gets too hot.
  10. 2006 hasn`t been anywhere quite as good as this spring for seeing snow between the dates of March 20th to now with only with just 6 days here and a brief covering on april 9th. And 2000 saw less days with snow falling also between those dates even though there was much more snowfall like 9inches to this year same goes for april 1998. It`s been quite impressive really even 1996 had 13 days(1.5inches max) thats 1 day less to this time(2inches this time) with snow/sleet falling settling from march 15th to april 15th.
  11. This could well turn out to be the coldest april since 1989(6.6c) well thats what I`m thinking at the moment theres a reasonable good chance... cold again tonight.
  12. Thats one thing I`ve noticed also the fields are looking bare havn`t even mowed the lawn yet, with less grass to normal well as you say in recent years and it`s wetter ground later, and the trees are later even our cherry tree hasn`t started to blossum yet and with all these cold nights with it close to freezing or maybe just below, it`s not going to happen soon looking at the charts either may even see more of the sleety white stuff as its an east flow coming aswell.
  13. Since March 1st I`ve recorded either wintriness sleet to settling hail/snow falling/settling 21 days...with the rest of winter just 14 days. Also since March 20th that makes 14/24 with snow/sleet etc thats more days than normal looking at my past records with snow/soft hail etc seen falling between those dates since 1990.
  14. Looks like we`re heading for an April not seen for 8 to 10 years so 7.7c for me.
  15. Very windy last night gale NW-ly and very gusty coming down our valley and it got pretty cold down to 1.4c with a few morning soft hail showers and a heavy snow shower which started to settle but didn`t last quite long enough with upper air at -4c/-5c Turned cloudier now after a sunny mid-morning with a few light wintry shower rain/hail/sleet and a few flakes of snow now at 6c. Infact if heavy enough it`s wet snow, but theres less cold air going through now as expected at 5c.
  16. Heres some eye candy just a little way off but how sunday morning could turn out just on the right side of marginal here. I like the look of this.
  17. Looks like a right ole mixed bag friday rain/hail/sleet/snow showers cold strong NW/N winds. But looking more colouful friday night.
  18. Another view of friday which it will turn back to rain even here as -3c upper air isn`t great during the middle part of the day sleet/hail maybe, then the cold air digs in later. http://www2.wetter3.de/Animation_18_UTC/36_30.gif http://www2.wetter3.de/Animation_18_UTC/48_30.gif
  19. Quite a cold slice coming in on this run early friday morning with snow down to sea level in the east then less cold air to follow after. http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rmgfs422.gif Should be interesting.
  20. That was good friday then it shows april 12th on that chart..... well that was the coldest night here of that very snowy spell at -5c with a bitter north wind that day but it was thawing after the previous days 6inches at 3c with a patchy snow covering. As for this easter heres a couple of charts firstly from ECM it doesn`t get much better than this. :o GFS Oz run was a more straightforward potent N-ly with plenty of snow shower potential as the 6z run is more like ECM, and it has to be said looks similar but even colder/better than that 1998 chart yet. the low will probably end up further east but as it`s late March/Spring it can be more unpredictable.
  21. Very interesting TM so very impressive, heres the chart from december 1989 which actually 948mbs crossed the south coast which then had a pressure of 952mbs in london and that was the lowest reading since 1821. Think it says 953mbs on this. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119890225.gif
  22. Well yes it wasn`t very far away really but I`ve not seen the glass quite that low as TM said lowest March reading on record and heres the chart great for checking the accuracy of your barometer today 955mbs was the lowest here. 957mbs now and a fresh/strong NW-ly.
  23. 955mbs here now and still dropping lowest I`ve ever seen for March, infact can`t remember the last time it was this low on the barometer below the STORMY sign.
  24. My top 9 favourite febs of a great variety. 1.1985 2.1986 2.1979 4.1991 5.1978 5.1996 6.1994 7.2006 8.2005 9.2008
  25. This month was certainly one of a kind thats for sure. Feb 1996 will rate 2nd high up similar to 1994 3rd as the 90`s were concerned but 1991 was the best of the decade. Feb 1985 and 1986 has to be my all time favourite months though just for the best drifting snow longitivity and blizzards ever. Feb 1979 would of probably rated the highest but there again it may not off, don`t remember too much from that winter for some reason it`s along while ago now and didn`t appeciate it then so much as having snow/blizzards was a normal winter to me then and being alot younger. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119790215.gif
