  1. Got down to -2.6c at 8.30am which makes it the coldest early morning since april 6th with one of the best covering of thick frosts. Lots and lots of fog covering all the valleys did try coming here a few times but failed still some ice on the trees in the hollows otherwise a very sunny day with some cirrostratus at a very chilly 0.6c now B) snow cover over the welsh mountains also, temp was only -1.5c an hour ago. Edit:Temp now is 0.0c as the sun has faded slightly going into the high milky cloud.
  2. I do too -1.3c now which makes it the coldest night since october 29th.
  3. No sign of any fog around these parts this morning with some high cloud then a sunny day with CB`s to the west,I like to know what was falling from those at 1000 feet. Got down to -0.1c with ice on the roads as there was overnight showers, max of 4.4c making it the coldest day since october 30th....-0.3c here now as winds today were very light. Should be a sunny day here tomorrow unless theres an east wind bringing the forecast thick fog from telford. http://91.121.93.17/pics/brack0.gif
  4. Looks like a frost is on the cards tonight under low pressure not HP, it was 2.0c so a ground frost at least.
  5. Rain cleared temp range drop of 8.6c down to 3.3c now and clear.
  6. Raining here now so the cold front is approaching,a very interesting setup we have for the next few days. Not overly mild at 8.3c now and windy SW feeling cool infact.
  7. December 1st winter starts in weather,as November 1st is certainly dark short days, but brings much less snow to march which in recent years is the best winter month for snow I mean spring.
  8. Max of 5c today in a light N/NW wind, now its down to 0.5c and clear with cirrus, ice hasn`t thawed on the water today still quite thick in the shade.
  9. Still quite breezy overnight with a hard ground frost, min of 0.3c sunny with scattered cumulus now at 4.4c.
  10. Yes that mostly seems to happen at that time night when theres no wind especially. It`s just steadily dropping here and breezy now at 1.5c should get down to 0c with a penetrating frost higher up in the wind. B)
  11. I thought the temp wasn`t dropping much a tiny fall of just 0.1c in 75 minutes now at 2.2c and windy.
  12. Max of 5.8c today with just some cloud and mainly sunny, wind has turned more to the north and fresh, feeling very chilly now at 2.2c not dropping that quickly here too strong of a wind.
  13. A cloudy night min of 2.1c today is a much brighter day with a N/NE wind now at 5.3c.
  14. Freezing rain in other words East anglia will get the most snow. Only expecting rain here.
  15. Dropped to 3.4c early morning with some rain, had a max so far of 4.9c with a N/NW wind, which makes the october cold snap look very potent to this.
  16. Whats causing that very high anomaly over the eastern seaboard it`s been rising every time I look at it.
  17. Could have a event like this I wish no what I meant which I didn`t even know as there was any freezing rain during feb 1986/drizzle yes as looking at dundee`s site as there wasn`t any here as it turned to snow grains after the early drizzle which did freeze but nothing only to make the top of the snow crusty higher up as it was wet down here, as there was 50mm of ice on power lines at Buxton which must of down some damage to electric/telephone wires/trees, with more freezing rain in the north midlands on the 2nd as here it turned to snow from then on after. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119860202.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00219860202.gif Interesting forecast as going by the moon phases puts a different light of things. Full moon tomorrow and guess what very mild end of the week. Thats sounds like a particular winter I remember. But the last time it got that cold here was in december 1995.
  18. Lets see what the winter brings first, then if next summer continues on another repeat of the last 2 very poor summers, I hope not.
  19. Thanks for that, I`ve been trawling the archives and heres some interesting links of yours truly with January 1984 and last years Cold zonality topic with december 1993 in there aswell to compare. http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=34189 http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?s...42128&st=17
  20. Yes it was as I remember a sunny morning and drifting from the west, with some showers in the afternoon not completely of snow as they went a bit sleety later and soft hail showers nothing heavy but there was thick snowcover all day. This in 1978 looked a similar setup. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119780120.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00219780120.gif
  21. Thanks again TWS, this could`ve been the day I was thinking about as it gave 6 inches and drifting on the 21st with hail/sleet and snow showers,A day I clearly remember if this was it. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119931221.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119931222.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00219931222.gif
  22. Thanks but yes I`ve had a look a that site great site at that. As TWS said the jet had slowed down in March. I`ll be interested to see what MR Data says about it with sleet and snow falling days and lying snowfall for March 1995. As for January 1978 I thought it lasted longer than that but it didn`t looking at the charts. There was probably better cold zonality in the 1990`s winter as I can remember drifting snow from the west/SW with 8 to 10 inches I`ll have to check out those charts.
  23. As I remember March 1995 and recorded snow how does it compare with January 1984 and was it January 1978 with cold zonality from Manchester southwards as of course the north did extremely well as Manchester is only just further north to here. How many days with lying snow from those 3 years/months or falling snow it`ll be much appreciated.
  24. The next day would`ve produced snow further south too. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00119840124.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/19...00219840124.gif If ever there was a month to see again this would be it near the top of the list, as sadly I remember very little of January 1984 from the cold zonality and snow from this month, but I wouldn`t of heard of that phrase then.
  25. It`s reversing, in the summer the jet has been way south of where it should be and we`re getting more wind/gales even in summertime and much/much wetter. Even the last 2 winters have seen an increase in storms further south especially 2006/07 worst storm since 1990 which was the stormiest period 6 years I`ve ever seen(1988 to 1993 not forgetting october 1987 hurricane which didn`t come this far north thankfully.
