So out of our neighbours: Ireland, France and Belgium are all closing schools & universities. The Netherlands is closing universities but not schools.
It'll be interesting to compare how their outbreaks proceed compared to the UK. This will be used as valuable evidence in future epi/pandemics no doubt.
Portugal also shutting schools according to media

Been following this thread with great interest. Our office were sent home today after a couple of staff came into contact with a stakeholder who had been diagnosed. They have to self isolate for 14 days, whereas the office will be shut tomorrow for a deep clean!

Roses are starting to shoot plus daffodils are coming up nicely. More generally the perrenials haven't fully died back. No doubt a cold spring beckons!

-0.2c last night. First time since 12 December the temp got below freezing.. (and even that was -0.2c!)

Daffs growing here too. Also, the roses are starting to shoot. My last air frost (a paltry -0.3c) was on the 12 December. Could probably count the number of grass frosts on one hand. Knowing our luck a cold spring beckons!

Hideous nights sleep, not dropping below 30c to very early morning. However, a very refreshing 19c outside with frequent light showers.

So.....did anywhere get close to 35c then in the end?
34.7c, so close. Horrible night though. Still 28c in the room. 21c outside.

After a decent start it turned rather miserable from late morning. However, the sun is now out, the breeze is light, and it actually feels rather pleasant.
Should slowly start getting milder from Monday, with increasing amounts of sunshine as we head towards week end. And potentially rather warm if the models are to be believed!

The record goes! Still an hour or so of heating. A chance of 21c?

This just about sums up this week in Greenwich:
Been sat on the southern edge of that heavier precipitation for the last two hours now, with just some sleet and occasional bursts of wet snow which hasn’t left a slight layer of slush on some cars. And now it’s weakening.
So a little like March 18 for this area, so close to something more significant but did not have the winning ticket in the raffle once again. But good to see some areas have done better than expected, and today’s system does go to show that even with the hundreds of millions which we throw at forecast models, some situations are still as unsuccessful as my own modelling career (which similarly even hundreds of millions of pounds could not fix)
There’s still hope, we’re only just into February and modelling will remain volatile for a while yet with the downwelling wave, but after the grim weather we’ve had today in London, I think I’m ready for some spring warmth....maybe swimsuit modelling is more my thing...
I've been under the heavier band for a couple of hours now. Has left nothing with the temp stuck at 1.3c and a dew point of 1c
