  1. 4.8c here, after what was quite chilly day. Certainly felt unusual for June. Could easily have been late March/early April. Coldest night of June so far is 4.2c, so perhaps in with a chance of beating that tonight.

  2. Had an hour or so of wet snow yesterday, although nothing since.

December = Abysmal 2/3rds goodish end

January = Okay (some decent-ish snow events)

    February = Abysmal

Mind you far better than last year with further snow opportunities lasting through to April. This year may also be last year in this thread, with a possible move to the SE in September :(

  3. Yeah i'm amazed at the persistence of some of these snow patches. All gone from my village, i think, although the next one up still had nearly full cover on north facing gardens (grass) yesterday morning. I imagine western Sheffield has even greater cover!

  4. Yes vizzy. This morning was crazy. The car was actualy frozen shut! Had to try a few times to pull it open. Thick blobby ice everywhere. Was -3 at 8am. All the melt yesterday froze as you say and it was very ropey this morning!!

Still got some depth left here on the grass and piles next to the road. I was going to take some pics on Sunday to show it 10 days later, so if theres still some left then I will :)

Ive really enjoyed the last few weeks too, felt ive spoken to you and others a bit and started a friendship hopefully :) Lets hope the end of Feb and into March continues to hold promise!

Was in Sheffield the other day. Was surprised how much was still around (Fulwood). About 10cm on the grass with a little less on shaded paths. Hills still white over. Even on the main paths ice was still around. Its done well to hang around

  5. Yes there certainly has, even up here at 250m the snow is taking on that uneaven look now with melt underneath. Roads are clear now and its dropped off cars etc. Big shame, always makes me sad seeing it melt :(

Having said that, there is still decent depth on the grass and huge piles of snow everwhere where ppl have cleared drives etc so its still a nice white world. Melting should stop now sun is going down and due point is now below 0 again. It should hopefully remain that way now all next week. Think weve seen the last of the strong melting now. Next few days should be colder :)

Will certainly slow down although we need to it freeze tonight, but its too late for me (although still on northerly facing gardens, fields and in piles). Mind you in the village higher up there is still a good amount (amazing what 1 mile and a 50m difference can do!)

  6. Its not that confusing, you got a mild sector within the flow and the Northerly is not a clean one although next week it should be a much cleaner and colder flow.

The reason why your getting rain at 1C is down to the dewpoint probably being around the same whereas in a proper clean Northerly, you may get temps of up 2C but with a dew temp of -2 and that can lead to snowfall.

Yeah next week looking much better in terms of cold air. Could be good for coastal regions with plenty of showers on offer. Further inland its hit and miss

Snow thawing rapidly here. In fact its nearly gone in non sheltered areas. Should hold onto snow where its drifted, or is away from the wind.

  7. Temp hovering between 0.4 and 0.8c for the last few hours. Should stay like that in clear skies. Pennies ate that band coming in from the NW, so another miss for Sheffield. Hopefully will clip Chesterfield. Keep an eye on that band in Scotland. Still sticking with my earlier prediction although hope to be wrong! I'll be off work in the morning :)

  8. Snow showers brushing through the south of our region over the next hour, unless the Pennies kill them.. Not enough to amount to anything (dusting at a best). Keeping an eye on that band of precipitation pushing south. Still think it will fragment and weaken for southern and western areas (so a little if no snow) although could be okay for East/North Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Sleety to low levels however those with decent elevation *may* get a cm or two by morning (Lincolnshire Wolds, North York moors good areas).

Some further snow possible Sunday night, albeit light. Then again Tuesday. Wouldn't go further than that (or past the weekend)

  9. The latest NMM 2km, shows it heavier on its eastern flank, patchier towards the west. I think myself included and those with little elevation towards the coast will see rain/sleet, but over Moors/Wolds above 200m could be some accumulations. You chaps in the south and west are more likely to see snow especially with elevation albeit lighter and patchier precip.

Hadn't seen that. The higher res. model does indeed have heavier precipitation towards the coast. I think the North York moors could see a couple of cm's from that, although at lowers levels (i'd agree with 200m less) it could be more sleety. Inland (i.e. West and South Yorkshire) will either see nothing, to a dusting (sleety at sea level)

  10. Don't pay too much attention to weather it shows rain/snow. Rain/snow maps are usually wrong. I was just highlighting the fact that there is to be some significant precipitation tommorow morning for most and I think there could be snow in places.

NMM less inclined for heavier precipitation, just a fragmented band pushing south. Probably a dusting, should it fall as snow. Although given the lightness i reckon it could be sleety for most away from decent elevation (thats if it makes it). NMM been quite good for the last few events.
