  1. Indeed. Just shows what a terrible winter its been. They should be put out of their misery lol. I wonder what someone from say eastern parts of the usa woud make of all the fuss. lol
  2. Perhaps some back edge snow on wed morning? Not that it would lead to much but something to look out for.
  3. lovely clear and crisp morning with a sharp frost. First air frost in almost a month. overnight low was -1.4c,currrently - 0.2c.
  4. Yes that is true indeed and i would not expect snowy winters most years. Such is our climate that our winters have and will always be regarded as 'mild'.
  5. Bit of a coincidence though that it looks like this winter will be the warmest on record etc, december was crazy mild. Surely winters of the past were not in say a 30yr period as mild overall as the last 30,i refuse to belive it.
  6. yes but since the late 80s most of our winters have been mild and since then each decade has got more snowless then the one before.
  7. I would not be frostys biggest fan,its like he trys ramping things that are nothing too much out of the ordinary, ramping just for the sake of it more often then not.
  8. I would give it until middle of the month before i throw the towel in with this autumn or sorry i mean winter. Looks like the strat wont be much use to us now after all if im understanding it right. That i find the most bloody frustrating of all,you wait all winter, then its like sorry folks no joy this winter again.
  9. Thd best I got was a few small flakes blowing abot in the wind earlier, lol. Ah hopefully feb will deliver me the goods at som point.
  10. ^^^^^That ecm wk 4 chart wouldnt be good for wintry weather over here. So lets hope not then eh!!!!!
  11. 3.0c for me please. Going to be a cold one imo.
  12. lol. winter 83/84 i remember that jan we got a decent cold spell which was of the very cold zonal type which is certainly rare these days with plenty of snow. Well things are looking better atm regards next week and hopefully feb will try to make up for whats been a poor winter so far.
  13. I dunno rochey and pom ,winter 82/83 i thought was a disappionting winter. I was 9 at the time and it was the first winter i remember that i didnt get much snow. It did get colder in feb but i think all i got was around an inch of snow one night that was nearly all gone by the following evening and maybe one or two dustings. Maybe others did better but it was a much milder winter overall then the one before it and the ones that followed.
  14. If feb doesnt deliver i would put my life on it we would see some snow in march and/or april.
  15. Felt like a summers night last night with the temp here hovering around 13c all night . Remarkable. Has to be the warmest jan night ive ever recorded. Only now is the temp falling back slightly,12.5c.
  16. Try over 5 years without snow staying on the ground for more then 24hrs. I havent seen even an inch of snow since dec 2010 a number of dusting etc buts thats about it. Christ and i thought the 90s and 00s were bad.
  17. i recorded a max temp of 12.4c sometime duing the night, mad for january. Cooler now at 10.1c. Yesterday was the first day since jan 2nd that i recorded temps in double figures. So we are getting into a very mobile atlantic pattern with probably a lot of wind and rain. The one good thing though is by the start of feb the pv will hopefully have left greenland which at least in theory leads to a greater risk of cold weather for us. We have to sit out the rest of this month and then see what happens once we enter feb.
  18. Also perhaps late Feb into march 2001 is another example.
  19. I havent recorded double figure temps since jan 2nd but looks like not for much longer.
  20. With it being an el nino winter who knows maybe this winter will have a sting in its tail, but the next few weeks atm anyway look uninteresting fo coldies it has to be said.
  21. Well a forecast for the winter i had a go at back in nov on the community forcast thread for this winter hasnt gone too good, not that it was very scientific anyway but i would not be surprised if the second half of feb delivers .Might end up being one part of it that i got right. I dont think much will happen now like mountain shadow say until at least mid feb now regarding a cod spell.
  22. I would not be surprised if i end up seeing more snowfall in April then i will this winter more especially if the rest of this winter fails to bring a decent cold spell. This winter mostly reminds me of the mild late 80s winters which were then followed by sharp cold snaps the following aprils.
  23. What a differance this winter is compared to last winter regarding sunshine. I have hardly seen the sun since It set on friday evening, in what has been a very cloudy and dull winter overall so far. Last winter saw plenty of sunshine and was even record breaking for some on that score. This winter the exact opposite.
  24. A low of -2.1c here before the cloud rolled in,1.2c now. Jesus christ though cant even get one good night of severe frost without cloud spilling in from the west. Cold spell my weeble. I give up!
  25. A bright crisp day today with hardly a cloud in the sky until early this evening when the was a few clouds about. Coldest day of the winter so far,max temp 3.7c, the wind held up the temps from falling quickly this evening but as it now dropped off temps falling more quickly now, currently 0.4c.
