My first airfrost of the season i recorded last night, min temp -1.6c with a severe frost. My coldest nov night since nov 2010. just gone above freezing here 0.1c.

A hp spell would be perfect next week ,hopefully plenty of frost ,the ground would be nicely primed for any possible fun and games post the hp.

wet morning here,the temp has fallen back a bit the last hr or so,was around 5c earlier ,now at 3.1 and the rain turning more sleety atm. Looking forward to the likely upcoming frosty spell.

One noteworthy thing,how warm much of the arctic currently is ,up to and over 20c above normal this week. Crazy,I just hope if a cold spell was to come from that direction the cold would not be too diluted.

Things moving in the right direction,over the next number of weeks it's now or never for cold weather fans. Recorded 15.2c yesterday,hopefully it will be a long while before I see a temp like that again.

A time of yr we can be prone to getting cold snaps is sometime during the last ten days of nov,has happened many times before if my memory serves me right. Even some guy years ago did research or something on dates during times of the year most likely for below average temps and above average temps and indeed the last third of nov was one of the times that can often get below average temps. looks like a very decent chance of that occuring this yr. If i was a betting man i would go for a cold snap near the end of the month and an actual proper cold spell about a month later.

The odds are shortening as regards getting a cold spell sometime in the weeks ahead. Its surely just a matter of time. This morning here was the coldest so far this season wth a sharp frost ,min temp 0.2c .

Indeed ,the ecm certainly owes coldies one after some of its teasings the last few winters. I would go 60/40 in favour of the ecm being correct this time.

I think that at least the first half of the winter could be very interesting. A good sign in seeing the cold developing early over scandi. With the pv slow to get its act together its like getting a head start. When the pv does get going as it surely will at some point perhaps it will be weaker then recent yrs and our normal atlantic regime wont have things its own way this winter. I think the atlantic could find it has a real fight on its hands when it does wake from its slumber. I think the cold will put up more of a fight this yr. Atm its steady as she goes regards hopes for a cold winter.

At last we seem to have a decent enough nov for cold weather fans on the cards. Been rare in recent years. My fav weather type for nov has always been cold frosty type weather,i may be in luck this year. I dont mind waiting for any possible snow until dec.

mild and dull here,the weather type i hate the most. Looking much cooler next week thankfully. My hopes and thoughts for nov are for plenty of frosty and foggy weather and a below average month overall. If we are to get a proper wintry spell anytime over the coming weeks i think it will hold off until sometime in dec.

Perhaps,the fear would be by the time we get to winter proper the pattern will have moved on etc. Im hopefull though the pattern is a good sign for the coming winter or at least the first half. Perhaps a good chance of a front loaded winter. Well the last few winters it was thought that the second halves might deliver,so we waited and waited and waited but nothing ever happened ,so i dont mind too much if we do cash in our chips a bit early this yr.

Just when it looked like a chilly seasonal end to oct -halloween was perhaps a good possibility ,the models start showing the possibility of yet another very mild bloody end to oct. What is it with late oct in recent years. If it does happen i hope its not something that will last too long,lasting for much of nov and ruining yet another nov. Im probably overreacting,but just thinking of recent history. The last few novembers have been a borefest.

If we get a cold winter you will hardly be in a position to be complaining after the last few winters. As for god if there is one, well he has been looking after you enough these recent winters.

I presume the scandi high is indirectly responsible as its making the weather front stall and not allowing it to push on eastwards so its just been constant rain there in kerry.

Bit of a different night here last night compared to britan,my overnight low was 11.1c lol Temps probably staying in double figures tonight for most.

So 7 billion people and rising isn't going to have a much larger effect on the climate then if it were only one or two billion for example. With a large amount of those people using and adding greenhouses gases to the atmosphere. It's not about playing god per se just basic cop on imo. I'm sorry but I kind of look down on people who have large families these days. Why isn't 2 or 3 children enough. We should be thinking about the planet and resources. People having large families are only p**sing on their own children's doorstep and that of future generations.

with 7 billion people and rising the planet is overpopulated and projected to be 10-11 billion by the end of the centuary which is not sustainable. Surely climate change and a large and increasing population are linked to some degree. Imo anyone with say around 3 children should be sterilised,may sound a bit extreme but the global population is becoming extreme too.

Nice autmnal feel to the weather today after the return of summer yesterday. Max temp yesterday 21.8c,today 15.5c. Cool weekend ahead with perhaps some frost for some,then a scandi high takes control next week giving above average daytime temps especially away from the east. The Atlantic is fairly quiet ATM hopefully it often will stay that way this coming winter.
