  1. First bit of action in a while after a couple of week drought, got day off so can venture up a big hill if needs be.
  2. Just noticed this on the NMM, suggests widespread front edge snowfall on Sunday, however I think it will be mainly a temporary high ground event (200/300m plus)
  3. Well a frost looks due Tuesday morning. YAAAAY!
  4. Interesting that Malton was -21.2c yet York was -13.9c, thats a large difference for 18 miles.Anyway looks like rare synoptics I can only dream of.
  5. Hopefully those mounds will last you till April mate, still the odd patch round here but seems parts of the Wolds and especially the Moors are still keeping good cover. Temp dropping quickly here this evening under clear skies, we are only now 4 air frosts away from equaling last years so called "winter".
  6. Last few snow patches holding on in the shade here, last night was the coldest of the winter, I left for work at 6.30am and it was -4.4c at the time, and all the snowmelt from yesterday had frozen solid meaning the back roads were treacherous. Looks like this regional thread will go back into hibernation for a while, I've enjoyed the last few weeks even though It not exactly been the most exciting cold spell. Still time to go and hopefully we will be seeing this thread thriving again before Spring turns up.
  7. Well I'm not expecting any more accumulating snowfall now from this spell, left for work with a good 3/4cm on the floor and come home to half of it gone, gutted! In total squeezed 5cm out of this spell, which I'm quite happy with as it was only a tame NE'rly and it was marginal at times and I don't have much elevation. Parts of the Wolds have done well and more especially the N York Moors, heading up there tomorrow for some snowboarding, reports of up to a foot in the higher spots.
  8. At work in York at the moment, just had heavy sleet shower, can see a big shower over my house at the moment and praying it's falling as snow, any reports from great Barugh from Cold WInter?
  9. Great to have someone else posting from the North York Moors, there is another chap who lives in Westerdale but he posts in the Far North of England thread. Radar is looking good for all day and all night for you, could be some substantial totals come tomorrow, very jealous indeed. I only got 1.5cm overnight which has topped up what was remaining from yesterday, but the sun is out and its 1.7c and starting to thaw. The MetO have changed their forecast for here from being rain showers later to staying as snow throughout the day. The problem at the moment is the Moors are eating the showers and I'm catching the remnants, which is fine during the night, but during the day we need a big shower for any more accumulations.
  10. Had moderate snow here for half an hour now, given a few cm's top up. Looking good for the rest of the day. Shame I'm working indoors in york tho.
  11. Well I'm in the east and its currently -2.0c with a dew of -2.1c so not sure about this warm sector malarkey. Lisa mentioned some accumulations in the Vale of York on this afternoons forecast, so I needn't worry. Showers missing my area currently, but roads are solid ice and all soft snow left over has refrozen solid again. Ready for round 2, bring it on
  12. Only mild sector I can see on hi res NMM is the one passing by now, from 5pm -6c and below uppers come back in and remain untill Thursday.
  13. In a warm sector currently, colder uppers arrive back just in time for the precip tonight. Last night it was snowing here at bang on 0c. Tonight I expect it be to be a bit more marginal, but that may work in our favour as thats when you get the big 50p flakes that settle easily and quickly. Tomorrow I think showers will turn more of a sleety mix to lower levels although still accumulations on the Howardian Hills, North York Moors and Yorkshire Wolds. Really hope I see a good smattering tonight as tomorrow onwards looks like a steady thaw as daytime maxes reach 4/5c.
  14. Potentially, it does seem to have inland as far as the Pennine's on the lastest NMM. Wouldn't take it as gospel but its worth keeping an eye on.
  15. Slight thaw here aswell, especially in the sun. Hoping for a top up tonight. Heres my garden this morning with its whopping 3.5 cm
  16. Uppers only -5 to -8c. At this time of year with the stronger sunlight colder uppers are needed to guarantee snowfall to low levels. NMM 2km reckons it will stay as snow, I reckon it will be snow inland with the heavier showers but the lighter ones and towards the coast could be a mix of rain/sleet.
  17. Well not sure what the MetO were on about, 1-2cm on low ground and 5cm on North York Moors. Ive had 3 1/2 and I've missed the heavier stuff. Parts of the Moors are showing accumulations of nearly 20mm in places. With the snow not being marginal, especially over high ground, I would reckon some parts have seen around 15-20cm locally. Just look where I am with my totals and look how much more has fallen to the NE, bit of a misjudgment if you ask me.
  18. Just been out for a measurement on the shed roof (flat and away from the house) and I have bang on 3cms, and Pickering has had alot more snow than me tonight. So could even be 4/5 inches in Pickering.
  19. Looking at accumulations totals on radar extra, 2-3 inches I reckon. (In Pickering not Great Barugh)
  20. Doesnt look like Blue Bank in Sleights nr Whitby is open tonight.
  21. Yep I'm in that one now, just been for a walk with the headtorch to the River Derwent, already nearly an inch on the car since when I got home an hour ago. Its backbuilding also and shifting westwards so York could be in on the action soon.
  22. Been delivering out Tadcaster/Wetherby area this evening, was annoyed I didnt have any drops up towards my end. A64 turned white half way home from York, people driving like Grannys on a dusting as usual amazing how easily its settling, got nearly 2cm of lying snow out there at the moment, although the Vale of Pickering keeps eating up all my showers. Next shower incoming, Cold Winter where are you exactly? looks like your in for a pasting if this next shower doesnt die out. Temp 0.0c with a dew of -0.4c. Moon is lighting up the hills and it looks stunning! Love it
  23. Moors gobbling up all the showers as they are not even making it to Pickering, hopefully they will push further inland later on.
