Very mild and really quite breezy here in North east Wales today... Sadly this does mean that the trees are now being stripped of the last of the autumn leaves

As both simshady and Relativistic have said, its been a lovely autumn, and one I'm personally keen to see a lot more of (or should that be like?) I've just been having a look back, and its amazing how quickly I'd forgotten the heat and thunderstorms that September brought! There has been a lovely display of colours this year (probably helped by the lack of wind), and from a totally IMBY perspective, quite a lot of misty foggy starts as well Autumn 2016, you will be missed (meteorologically speaking of course ) ... But anyway... Here are a few pics that I've taken over the past few frosty days

One of the sights that greeted me this morning I think its safe to say that we are now starting to enter the part of the year when the autumn colours peak So my advice is to everyone, if you're able to, go out and enjoy the sights of the next two to three weeks

Morning all, sorry I've not been on line much recently, a tad busy, personal 'issues' etc... Can I just say how much I'm enjoying the benign autumn so far Some lovely sights around this area of North East Wales in the past week

I'm pleased to report that the autumn colours are coming along at a fair ole pace here in North East Wales, as you can see from this picture that I took last night ... But even I'm shocked at how warm and sticky this September is turning out!! Hottest September day since 1911 today!! ... I wonder if this autumn will turn into a sort of repeat of autumn 1911? I know what the models are showing, but this is Mother Nature that we're dealing with here. Lol Edit: I've just noticed some of the posts about trees changing colour... I posted this before I had a read back through the tread... Please don't accuse me trolling

Had a couple of fart pop thunderstorms here in North East Wales so far today... My, my, the weather Gods are spoiling me today. Lol But seriously, if you've got a good storm then enjoy folks, and for those that are still waiting, hopefully you'll get something soon

Afternoon Chris K Spoken to quite a few of the yolkals this morning, and I can confirm that we did have a thunderstorm over North Wales last night... And guess who slept through it?? Still shouldn't really grumble, as I was under one of the storms yesterday at the Seven Valley Railway

Well, Gavin over at 'Gavs Weather Vids' has just issued his autumn 2016 forecast, and he's going for an Atlantic driven, but dryer than average autumn ... And also a slightly milder than average autumn. I just hope that the slightly milder than average part doesn't come from cloud cover But with it forecast to be drier than average, does this hopefully mean higher than average pressure, so that we can get the mellow mists and fogs, and sunny spells throughout a big chunk of this autumn before we get the the business end in November? Evening, Evening Thunder As long as the stormy bits can hold off until the business end of autumn then I won't complain, I seem to recall a big wind storm in November 2010, but I wasn't well at the time, so my recollection is a tad foggy (excuse the pun).

No doubt many will have seen the varying excitement over in the MOD thread about the potential Spanish Plume next week. So just to add to all of the froth and wibble that will no doubt come from such a juicy looking Plume, I've just cherry picked these most juicy looking charts And before anyone says anything, yes I am fully aware that most of these charts are over a week away, so therefore the chances of them verifying are almost second to none, but hey, its nice for us storm lovers to have a bit of eye candy after what seems like an eternity And always remember, it was about twelve months ago that we a very short lived, one day Spanish Plume (I think it was on Saturday in August ) that gave us (well me anyway) a very impressive and thundery evening... So could history be about to repeat itself? or Am I just hopecasting? ... Probably the later. Lol

I dunno if its the heat and humidity this evening, or the quality of the light, but for some reason its reminding me of the October heatwave that we had back in 2011.

From a totally IMBY perspective, I have to say that the past two to three days have been absolutely perfect summer weather for me, not too hot, pleasant at night, and lots of lovely blue skies and sunshine, so you can get out and about to enjoy things as I have been doing Ok, so the thunder risk has down graded to virtually nil, but being able to enjoy some days this summer without being cooked alive, or moaning about the dreaded grey infill, has more than made this current fine spell very enjoyable I just hope that summer 2017 is more like the past couple of days for the majority of it.

Morning Ian I'm not fussed on the heatwaves, as I find them debilitating... Just nice sunny conditions like we've had for the past two/three days for a majority of the summer would do very nicely

This morning we we once again treated to once of those beautiful cool, sunny and misty mornings... I do love these shallow mists at this time of year, a reminder that autumn is more than just around the corner

Tonight is the last night of the August Perseid Meteor shower. I've just been out with the dog and guess what?? Yes it's clouded over again!! So far this year I have failed to see any of the lingerie twilight, I haven't seen any noctilucent clouds, and now I can add the August Perseid Shower to that list I will be so glad when this cloudy, gloomy, grotfest of a still born summer is consigned to the history books. People are bemoaning about the autumnal dartboard lows that the GFS and ECM are predicting for us from next weekend onwards... My take on it is, let them happen!! I'd rather have a few hours of rain and wind for it then to clear and leave us with sunshine and showers rather than just this constant grey nothingness. Personally I love autumn; but I'd enjoy autumn far more if we've had a summer before hand. Summer 2016... One to forget.

Hahahahahahaha... You're right there. I thought we were only meant to suffer like this in the depths of January/February.

Another nice sunny day forecast... The reality is another day of grey cloudy gloom *sigh* ... It feel like its been this way since, well, November last year, I'm so fed up of grey gloom and nothingness now. I hear a lot of people moaning about last years summer, but from a totally IMBY perspective, last year as really quiet sunny, a pleasant cooling breeze, and a couple of good Spanish Plumes that went bang with avengeance !! So can I put a request into the weather gods that Summer 2017 be a re-run of summer 2015 and NOT a repeat of this years still born effort?
