A cold-ish month 2008-style. 7.9

6.5 for me please.

Looks like the CET will not do the cold spell justice, a common theme in recent years.

Surprising Ayrs not got anything. Been quite heavy graupel here, left about 1 to 2 cm. Golf course heaving with kids sledging. That’s a few times it’s snowed in Troon this winter. Maybe not much but snow nonetheless.
Yeah, Troon and Prestwick seem to have done better than Ayr in recent years (during 2018 Beast from the East too?)

Just beginning to absolutely hate winters here. It’s either a three-month hurricane or strings of bitterly cold days and nights and high heating bills without any of the joys of snow. It’s funny, ever since we got wall insulation the winters have seemed colder, offsetting the effect, but less snowy. This morning it seemed everything was favourable - established cold, low dew points, good wind direction, lots of snow on the radar (or so it seemed). What do we get? A few measly flakes. Honestly think I’m just going to root for the mild dry conditions of eg 2011/12 from now on it’ll save a lot of heartache.

Well that’s basically it. That was what I’d call a 1 in 5+ year chance we had everything - established cold, low dew points, a favourable wind direction and plenty of precipitation on the radar (or so it looked). Still nothing. I am just heartily sick of winters here. It’s either a near-3-month hurricane or running up the heating bills due to strings of bitterly cold nights and days (the fact the days may be a bit milder than inland isn’t that relevant to the bills point) without any of the joys of snow.

Fair covering of snow in Troon according to Twitter, still nothing here of note

A few flakes have fallen and are lying on the road. Couldn’t have been visible against the lamppost

I take it from the lack of Ayrshire posts there is not much going on elsewhere either?

It’s strange the BBC week ahead forecast last night had oodles of snow reaching Ayrshire Sunday into Monday (and it certainly would be snow by then with those uppers) but their own app and the rest of the apps, not a flake

Reckon all the ‘wet’ for here will take place before the really cold uppers dig in, again! The BBC TV map shows some perhaps making its way across Saturday into Sunday. But nothing from the Met Office

<-20C temperatures for the Highlands if the GFS comes off, but dry as a bone for the most part.

I could actually get some snow out of this!
