  1. From the Evesham Journal..... Looks as though the Easterly winds did not last that long, and just before Christmas it was mild and damp on the western side of the uk but under that ridge there in the southeastern side of the uk they were probably frosty and foggy, probably smog in cities such as London...
  2. Took an early morning walk around Evesham after a hard frost and some shortlived fog, the other two photos were taken a couple of years ago on the Malverns and a photo of the Brokenspectre. Hope you like them![a ttachment=72732:PICT1084.jpg][attachme nt=72737:DSC00044.jpg]
  3. Nothing to notable for the weather in the Vale, notable rain fell between 8th and 10th leading to some flooding and river rise of the Avon, you could sum up the month as starting of chilly, a mild spell mid month and then getting colder! average day temp 9.8c.....recorded , 10.1c average night temp 3.8c.....recorded 5.6c rainfall average 62mms......recorded 96.1mms highest wind gust 28mph , from the southeast on Thursday 27th. Barometric pressure ranged from 991.7mbs to 1027.2mbs. Remarks for the month.......temps and rainfall above average.
  4. Thankyou! I tried looking in the next doors neighbours shed as it looks like the rainbow is coming from there, but they got the gold first....dam!
  5. I know we see lots of them , but this one was very vivid today and if you look carefully at the pics you,ll see a secondary bow. Just helps to cheer the the November skies...[i dont think the pics do the rainbow justice!] ENJOY....! [attac hment=71461:PICT1072.jpg]
  6. Not a bad day here in the leafless Vale! Temp now@17.19 3.7c and falling slowly. max temp 6.7c min temp 3.6c barometer 1018.9mbs rising steadily outside humidity 67% dewpoint minus 2c max wind gust 18mph northwesterly rainfall 0.4mms
  7. I love these outlandish, long range weather predictions, there about as good as the proverbial "chocolate teapot"
  8. The last couple of days have seen some nice Autumn weather but back in the start of October 1908 all the country was experiencing a "Classic" Indian Summer with temperatures widely into the 70sf as was the case from this extract.... As can be seen from the synoptic chart back then the whole of the UK was affected by a big European high much more dominant than we have right now....
  9. Anyone want another swift half!! ps, we cant expect anyone to reply at the moment, we all know that youre on the Great North Run!!
  10. Good point! I was thinking the same as you, how many times do we have to hear this rubbish?! Man has been battling against the elements since time began and because we have a run of wet/dry years these folks make such alarmist comments on wondering how we are gonna cope! I do really feel sorry for the farmers this year ,but what you fail to hear of is the number of good years farmers and growers have had ,and you dont often hear of there success, they have survived up to now and they will continue to do so ,the point is there is nothing new about our weather in this country being varied, it changes from year to year some wet, years ,some dry and a good many more years being very kind indeed!
  11. Hi and Welcome! I purchased a Davis Vantage Pro2 last year and its the best weather station ive ever had and very accurate. You can buy the additional software so you can link it into your computer [weather link 5.7] and I must say it works exceptionally well. Just type the weather station I mentioned into your search engine and it will come up with the info. As the Vantage Pro2 is made in the USA ,you will need a uk dealer, the details are as follows THE WEATHER SHOP@ 5 THE WATERFRONT,SOVEREIGN HARBOUR VILLAGE, EASTBOURNE, BN23 5UZ, OR TELEPHONE 01323 479769 or there website is www.weathershop.co.uk Hope that helps and best of luck!
  12. Whenever a Hurricane makes landfall it will always be a major disaster, but whether this Hurricane is the worst case scenario or perhaps not as bad as it could have been ....still remains to be seen....still a long way to go yet!
  13. Judging by whats happened so far and these projected profiles it" is" a major disaster.
  14. Hi folks, I would love to join everyone....I,ll have to sort something out...
  15. If you go through the sequence of this radar loop [you cant by clicking this!]you can see how it gets torn apart by the Carribbean Islands and then gets itself togeather very quickly once it over the warm waters. Looks to me as this could well turn out to be a vicious beast...
  16. Good one Paul, I think thats a good shot for the next couple of months or so, Im thinking the jet will be flying low once again so lots of perhaps nice surprises on the way and more of a traditional Autumn....
  17. The latest from Accuweather as to where Gustav will end up, I,ll bet there sweating on the Gulf coast in more than one sense! It looks as though it will be heading between the Yucatan and Cuba so it has a lot of perfect warm water at its disposal...watching with interest over the next few days.....
  18. Cant moan about the weather today, a few heavy heavy showers here this afternoon, but the Vale Of Evesham Weather Station missed most of them! A few cumulus ninbus can still be seen from the "dying" storms. current temp@ 18.53 18.6c and a gentle nnw breeze@3mph. max temp 21.1c min temp14.4c max wind gust 15 mph southerly dewpoint 14c outside humidity 77% barometer 1013.7 mbs steady rainfall 0.2mms
  19. Well compared to other folks across the uk we have not done to bad. Partly cloudy[cumulus congestus ]and windy 13mph sse@18.18. max temp 19.4c min temp 13.7c max wind gust 24mph southerly outside humidity 74% dewpoint 14c barometer 997.8 mbs and falling rainfall 2.2mms
  20. Well I like the cool weather, but today for a lot of folk its been pretty miserable especially if you want some summer! current temps@18.16 .......16.5c mainly overcast, mix of clouds , cumulus, cumulus congestus, stratocumulusfractus. max temp 18.4c min temp 10.4c max wind gust 21mph sw current wind speed/direction 9mph southwest barometer 1002.1mbs dewpoint 11c outside humidity 71% rainfall 6.2mms <_<
  21. Not a bad here in the land of fruit, cloudy@18.17, stratocumulus and no wind! current temp 19.8c max temp 21.1c min temp 14.2c max wind gust 14mph northwesterly dewpoint 12c barometer 1014.4mbs outside humidity 64% rainfall 3.8mms
  22. These storms have always occured and unfortunately people die whatever we have ,doppler/ uptodate weather forecasts. I think the "problem" here today is more folks live on the planet and therefore storms effect more people, and secondly we would not of heard this incident years ago because there was not the commnication around, and these storms can literally come out of nowhere as Nick will verify and take us all by surprise, but thats the weather!
  23. A nice summers day today and no extremes! current temp@19.06 20.4c with a gentle wsw airflow and altocumulus gracing our skies! max temp 21.2c min temp 10.9c max wind speed 16mph southerly dewpoint 12c outside humidity 61% barometer 1011.5 mbs steady rainfall 0.2mms
