  1. Cumbrian ensembles in agreement: http://hw.nwstatic.c...t850Cumbria.png Turned well chillier here tonight BTW. Ian
  2. Agreed the synoptics are a "bit stagnant" for extremities - time yet - but TBH it is an enjoyable day here "up nooorth" Thing is we have been spoilt for the last two Decembers and we expect it as a norm.In all my 49 years on this planet I can count on one hand the decent early winter blasts - November 20th 1988 being about the earliest for a *decent* early season mountain expedition. As for Lakeland the snowiest month since records have been charted by KMRT has always been February.
  3. Any possibility of a NW Archive Chart of the classic Bartlett setup for us (un)learned? Thanks in advance - Ian
  4. I must be colour blind - cant see the 516 DAM line there - FI pal - Sleet will be the most probable outcome at best.... as for insane read my sig - you want to join me? - spaces availiable....
  5. Well ramped. Model runs have been in tentative agreement to a teasing early Dec blast - Had a look back in the archive from 18-12-10 for inspiration. Cant wait......
  6. Strawclutching in FI +348 http://hw.nwstatic.c...348/h500slp.png Sleet for the tops of the Cumbrian Fells please. Ian
  7. Could get a bit sleety on the tops for the far north? http://hw.nwstatic.c...150/h500slp.png Is this the closest yet for the 528 DAM line?
  8. All good - Some serious convection happening now BTW (sorry to be OT) gutters not holding water.....
  9. .........remember it well - is Mr F availiable for comment?
  10. Correct Kam.....! - but still a drop in millibars in the LP before that to "soften" N Scotland up on the Saturday. Iain Apologies - just seen separate thread Hurricane - I need to get out more - hopefully Sunday? - might take the kite - will make interesting flying at 3000ft
  11. http://hw.nwstatic.c...airpressure.png Yes looks "interesting" been watching this for a few days now it has been evident on most runs and entering a reliable timescale - Forum unusually quiet on this and surprised most posters are looking for warmth - maybe the Daily Express has got it right for once? Iain
  12. How do you know for sure.....? This summer was supposed to be comparable to 1976.
  13. Myself included. Yes the irony of it all. Devon and Dorset beaches for us from the 1st of August.... No heat for the forseeable.
  14. Recently came across the NW Archive. Remembered this was an interesting weekend in the NW - Friday to Saturday 11th June 1982. Stayed out all night with "a friend" in the woods (like 19yr olds do....) Heard the storm building for the Saturday which brought excellent convection. Near direct hits on the 12th where I used to live. Could some one explain How potent this chart measures up? - Cheers. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/1982/Rrea00119820611.gif
  15. Agree - the BBC/Meto had it nailed on although it was plain to see how mild the SW flow was - I drove up to Keswick yesterday following snowploughs over Shap summit at 1053ft ASL (light snow M6 clear - a credit to the Highways) I expected to be driving back home (South) into a real pasting - a total monumental Meto cock-up.....
  16. I worked nightshift this week and noted how the moon got bigger and bigger as it dropped into the horizon also MARS is close by at the moment it was about 2 o'clock glowing its usual unmistakeable "orangey red" - Excellent Photos...!!!
  17. Snow flurry here in Preston - lasted about 30 seconds
  18. ......Waxings lyrical - of Wordsworth proportion - it must be something in the water up there....
  19. I am aghast to find you are whining and complaining of so called "snow domes"....what is on your doorstep....??? Ennerdale? Wasdale? or heaven forbid Borrowdale...! I have walked through blizzards in all of these Cumbrian gems involving far too much travel from good old Lancassshhhiiire - if you are well equipped its out there for you if you cant be arsed wanting the right conditions stay at the coast because thats where you are...
  20. Looks like E Yorks and Leeds in particular are in for a pasting with that streamer - winds NE no chance of anything for us.
  21. You a Lasher then OON? - I am from the other end of the M55..! Tower Models have some decent O Gauge "Toys" too - Raining hard here in Preston cant understand why the MO issued a warning - there has been some snow during the night but I am not sure how much as the rain has put paid to it and turned the roads to a fine slush - still our game against Col U will be on - Up the Whites.
  22. Yes - Rain Today Radar looks like they are clearing the North Pennines - I was watching these when they hit the NE and Newcastle.
