  1. Finally managed to get these photos from last year to load. Seeing as their is all this weather porn popping up i thought i'd join . - First tornado on Tour 4 on the CO & OK border on 31st May 2010 - Second Tornado on the CO & OK border - The same storm after it had dropped all 3 twisters. - Nebraska HP Supercell with some very large hail! - Taken overlooking the Missouri River as a storm rumbled overhead in South Dakota, did an awesome core punch later on the day!
  2. Just to add, oddly enough its snowing in Oklahoma City and Dallas. Hopefully it'll be 35c again by June 1st with some T-Storms knocking around
  3. What time flights is everyone from tour 4? As i was thinking maybe we could all meet up before we jet off if to the states and again when we get there? No worried if not was just and idea
  4. 2005 was another fairly good summer, though it was more unsettled further north, particularly northern England and Scotland. Both June and July had periods of cool wet weather alternating with very warm/hot weather with occasional t-storms. August was very warm and sunny we had alot of days where temps were in the mid 20s particular from mid month onwards, and a big t-storm to end the month. If i could pick and August to have weather wise this would be one of them, the other being 2003.
  5. It is indeed lol. Something funny happened with my account in the summer so i changed the name. Glad you approve, its the same as my xbox live name tag Im going to be dreaming about storms tonight, its all i've thought about all day its driving me mad lol i just want to get out there again! Clare said her and Rich are thinking about going on tour 2 this time round.
  6. Lol i think i'll just stick to the Buffalo Wings and Ranch sauce lol.
  7. Lol i think i'll just stick to the Buffalo Wings and Ranch sauce lol.
  8. Hi guys, i must say i love reading this discussion as i've learnt so much. I've just been trying to read up about Discontinous retrogression and i think i understand what it is but can somebody clarify if i have this right? Is this when a trough becomes very large and as a result a new one forms further west, which in turn weakens and eventually shifts the original trough westwards to merge with the new one? If this is right how do you think this will play out in the up-coming winter?
  9. Alas no storm for us yet, 3 rumbles and no visible lightning from a cell to our west and just had a short torrential downpour, must say i can't remember the last time it hammered it down like that, netted 5mm of rain in as many minutes.
  10. Two loud rumbles heard here finally at long last my storm drought appears to be coming to an end WHOOOP!!
  11. Waft some of that heat over will ya lol, been in the low to possibly mid twenties today, my thermometers are useless as our garden is a suntrap and very sheltered so the temp is several degrees higher than it actually is. I would not like to be sleeping in that heat over there tonight especially in London looks as though its going to be a sticky one. A 20c temp difference between, the north of the country and the south that is such a huge difference for the Uk.
  12. The last couple of summer have been pretty poor for storms down this neck of the woods. In fact the last 3 years have seen a dramatic reduction in storms. Most of our storms come from Spanish plumes and imports from France, which we havn't seen so much of the last few years and when we have they have failed to deliver, possibly due to the channel being colder but thats anybodys guess. Do miss the good old sticky spainsh plumes and the pulse and multicell storms that came with them. I agree with Rob that this summer has been more like what a typical summer is like, although it has been on the dry side so far. and the last 3 summer have been pretty rubbish to say the least down this neck of the woods as well, 2008 being the worst. Not to sure about July and whether it will follow suit to June though, I can't help but get the feeling its going to be pretty cool and more unsettled especially in the first half.
  13. I bought the ws3600 about 4 weeks ago only managed to put it up 2 weeks ago and its really good works really well, the best bit about it is the history data it collects and you download it onto the pc, i do need to move my wind vane and rain gauge as its been windy the tree near the rain gauge has been sheltering it from the rainfall, and the wind vane isnt catching the wind properly, but it works sweet none the less.
  14. Aparantly we had 3 t-storms today i was working at the time , but it did rainheavily and there was pea sized hail coming down and it wasn't half bouncing a good few feet off the ground, does any body else in the area know more about these?
  15. Definatly looks like somethings was brewing there, i can see the roation in the picture
  16. If i remember rightly June 1995, for two weeks was cool, even slightly cooler at times times than this june until the last week when it went blazingly hot and sunny. Also June 2005 was the same, coolish wet and windy first 2 weeks with breif warm dry sunny days, and then mid month, it went very warm, very hot in the south east, and very thundery. June is always abit iffy as the euro monsoon gives its final blows during the month and its rare that it doesnt, tbh i think we may be in for a what i'd call a typical british summer, like 2005 was ( maybe slightly warmer ) which is nothing to complain about had some very nice, very warm and very thundery spells.
  17. Well here's my views on the subject: Thundery Rain: To me thundery rain is just rain and thunder plain and simple, or as a rainstorm. Thundery Shower: Basically a thunderstorm that lasts anything from 10 - 30 mins (e.g. pulse storms ) Thunderstorm: Proper thunderstorms to me, last for over 30 mins typically 45 - 60 mins, violent severe storms lasting longer. ( e.g. MCS, Supercell ) Static/Electrical Storm: Just thunder & lightning none or very little rainfall, ( not to be confused with a storm in the distance lol ) saw one in spain once very intertaining. If it rains when and a flash of lightning goes off but only 1 - 2 flashes occur afterwards to me thats not a storm, above 10 flashes to me is countd as one, i could waffle on about intesity but i wont, for now lol
  18. Oh ha ha, i thought i'd said something, as i do waffle. As for tommorow im no expert, but you may get this band later tonight by then it could be thundery but who knows, & tommorow...well you've probs got a better chance than us ha ha, well if the forecast is to be belived it could be heavy/thundery showers devloping just off the coast here and moving northeastwards into your area, but i could be wrong.
  19. Yes sorry if i have offended i tend to waffle when it comes to thundery weather i'll be quiet..
  20. It looks like on the radar there are two bands of really intense precipitation the 2nd one is rapidly forming behind the 1st one, must say i am surprised how quick its devloped across Devon
  21. I wouldn't get your hopes down ajpoolshark theres a 2nd cell coming this way from the south you never know it could turn thundery, but i did read that activity out to sea at night sometimes mean if the weather doesnt change during the day, activity on land the following day..i think lol
  22. rains getting heavier again im sure i can hear faint rumbles, cant see any lightning
  23. Hey there ajpoolshark, I can't see the south east that welll how frequent are they? the rians eased off now
  24. Just had a torrential downpour which has lasted 15 mins no thunder, was very suprised there wasn't as the it certainly looked like it was going to ealier, but not seen rain as heavy as that for months.
  25. Don't know if anybodys noticed but there are some thunderstorms moving northwards from spain and have just appeared on the metoffice satellite, hopefully they'll reach us by tommorow. http://metoffice.co.uk/
