  1. Mexico! My only post on it cause I don't want to bombard this off topic but I love Mexico. When I went in August for 3 weeks 4 years ago. I saw countless storms near and far. During the rainy season in Mexico city there was a thunderstorm nearly every evening I was there, was bizarre looking at the forecast cause it was showing storms every day twice a day. 2 to note, one had frequent cloud to cloud lightning that was really impressive, the other was like a part in war of the worlds, surface based and a CG once every 10 seconds with a real crack of thunder. That was about 3 hours away from the city. The trip was awesome anyway but all those were the icing on the cake. Even thought I saw a funnel from the plane before I'd even got off. Driven by my girlfriend's uncle to our first destination from the airport the first of many storms. Will always remember that trip! I'm glad you got out of it ok, what an experience for you!
  2. Good luck everyone today, those in the forecast area and those who have an outside chance. Stay positive and root for others if luck isn't on your side. Hoping to see some good posts on it today fingers crossed.
  3. That GFS chart was exactly what I saw, lesson learnt Nick
  4. Thanks for the reply and confirming my suspicions. I,'ll be sure to check other models when making future predictions.
  5. I saw the potential myself but wasn't sure and only an area in the southwest mainly in the channel but steering winds heading northeast which could move towards the London area but decided not to mention it in case I was wrong. Perhaps looking at more forecast models as well as GFS may have shown a little more for me to have gone on. Happy to see people getting a surprise storm this evening.
  6. Yes indeed, I thought there was a no storms club for that. Like mapantz says I've been enjoying an incredibly lovely summer of heat and sunshine without dreary days.
  7. This year has definitely been eventful. Ok not all of them have been a real show but even being mainly static and not chasing I should think it's coming to double figures if not that already for thunder days. I know of a couple of years were very quiet but I do also remember a year that didn't give me a lot of time to do other things before I had to drop it and chase storms again. I think this area does pretty well for storms in general and at least we do get thunder days here and I'm sure there's people out there that would be more than happy to get the thunder days that we have had or at least a storm with a couple of rumbles in it. I don't think a year has gone past that I wouldnt at least have heard thunder.
  8. Yeah i saw earlier one of the small cells taking a right against the flow on radar and it does look like it's the one you photographed confirming visual rotation in conjunction with the radar.
  9. Ok I have created the radar as it was still in time on the V7. 3 speeds, first 3 with a circle highlighting the area I think indicates rotation (brightest echo taking a right turn also possibly a hook on the southern edge could be it instead?) and the last 3 without in order to not be distracted Radar_of_funnel_Cromer_22-07-17_16_00_-_19_00.mp4
  10. There's No precip on radar so looks like a false strike.
  11. There we go great back up and confirming the date! Thanks guys! Definitely a day/night to remember. I don't have much time right now but I'll dig up everything I can about that night. I think I have radar animation of it too to show the right turn it made.
  12. Without being able to dig up the details (maybe I'll post it later) but could possibly be in 2014 we had quite possibly a supercell that came over us on 11th of October. I think Paul Sherman was at the Norfolk broads at the time and witnessed it too. It gave us a great storm structure and 3 hours of nice anvil crawlers and cgs. I got slow motion and footage of it somewhere. Based around that there's still quite sometime left for potential.
  13. If you mean it lit up after dark then it is always good to wait for nightfall as sometimes the potential gets realised due to nocturnal cooling. It certainly looked like it did that on Tuesday evening. Could see the daytime storms were very limited, waited to see what would happen after nightfall and bingo. If the trigger and energy was only due to diurnal heating then the limited storms would have been the only thing we got.
  14. Yeah I noticed that on the SR the last time there was potential.
  15. I can't seem to find your facebook account do you have the link?
  16. I'm glad it was useful, taking radar animation is definitely worth doing! Ok I will share your album to the group. Nice one
  17. Now I'm made up! Yes! Well done for getting that, it looks amazing and thanks for sharing. Thats the money shot for me, thats what I need to see (not taking away from anyone else with awesome pics and vids of storms clouds etc). If it were with tornado then it would be priceless. I recorded parts and nearly all of the radar to animate it because I saw 2 or 3 right movers and a left mover. I would like to pinpoint which one it was in order for future reference! Estofex did mention a chance of a supercell or two with hodographs suggesting it and bingo thats what we got and theres visual evidence! Again well done, good for you. May I ask can I share these pictures credit to you on my facebook group please? I'll post the radar animations segments and then the whole thing in my next post or update this one. right_mover_1_06-07-2017.avi.mp4 Radar_2_06-07-17.avi.mp4
  18. Finally got a decent flash of purple lightning, it just all of a sudden sprung back into life.
  19. Since just before midday when I heard the first decent boom of thunder out of nowhere, its been thundering sporadically, last thunder was fairly distant about 15 minutes ago and before that the last lightning that was detected on lightning maps was 30 minutes before that. Frequency has been slowly dropping. I haven't seen any lightning today myself, the leading edge did have some high level mammatus. Judging by reports the nearest overhead lightning to me in Norwich was East Dereham way.
  20. I have relatives that live there, I wonder what they made of it!
  21. This looks more like it if it stands. SB and ML CIN falls away for tomorrow (not just for Norwich) and a reasonable amount of CAPE builds up. If you look at the forecast for 01:00 it says CAPE 0. Yesterday it said CAPE 1800. Amazing in such a short space of time it changes so much.
  22. Convective weather has a forecast out for tomorrow.. http://www.convectiveweather.co.uk/forecast.php?date=2017-06-22
  23. I assume being closer to the low and lower surface pressure for them had something to do with it being more free to intensify.
