  1. I must admit I was trying to work that one out something had to have been present to steepen lapse rates cooling the mid levels.
  2. Ok thx for the input, relative vorticity can indicate a trough also?
  3. Well the trough according to GFS at present is as illustrated and the main area will continue at present forecasts along the arrow and pass over EA at around 13.00 to 18.00 tomorrow. (corrected as the cold front)
  4. Agree, noticed the strong sheared environment too. Got itself into a squall line..
  5. Yeah, seems that nocturnal cooling is helping this lot to keep persisting. Heading northeast, fairly quickly by the looks of it.
  6. Ah nice, thats pretty close to what I was thinking for the UK. Apart from some capping in places I think that any storm that do fire over the continent will be pretty severe, given high CAPE values and some strong deep layer shear. Good luck for the Kent clipper.
  7. Any thoughts about tomorrow? Low centred just west of Ireland and some storm potential?
  8. A little cell south and a touch west of Norwich has suddenly appeared. I think the warm front will slowly moves things east with new cells.
  9. I think its fair enough to give what could happen if the cap would break and forcing was strong enough, if that was the case then things could have been very different and its worth making sure full potential is realised even if it doesn't actually materialise. However its not over yet as you say and I wish all good luck, I hope it happens..
  10. Totally forget my above post as I have posted charts that are a week in the future haha! Blown that theory out of the water!
  11. Deleted cause info was wrong However I got reliable confirmation that its ex-hurricane Gaston in the SLP charts. Someone described as a dartboard hehe.
  12. Yeah fingers crossed, good luck to you guys down there.
  13. I had that the other day on the 12th this month. There were darkening clouds to the east of me and it just sat there. The initiation from a CZ I should imagine and I was at the rear of it at the updraft area. It had some decent speed to the updrafts that were not lathargic. There was some rotation spotted in the updrafts too. Once it finally got going it gave yarmouth and the surrounding areas a pretty good show that day.
  14. Some sferics detected all the way up in Scotland, Northwest of Aberdeen.
  15. Can see the clouds building from east midlands to CS on sat24 moving eastwards.. http://en.sat24.com/en/zoom/eu/visual/1279/981/?refspot=1
  16. Yes and I gotta thank those who take the time to take them and share them for all of us to see
  17. Lovely hot and reasonably humid day here in Norwich so was surprised to hear some rain or drizzle only a few miles south. Its my day off today so I'm trying to enjoy the heat and the sunshine whilst its here. Further east from the main area today but thats no problem as I love how today feels. I got aircon to cool me down and dry me out if it gets too much I'm happy to keep this Edit and even more surprised to see dull echoes only just south of me and one heading straight here. Nothing major and I'm sure it won't hamper my sunshine much for trying to look less like a tourist (I'm pretty white!) when I go to Italy next week to try and look less like a tourist
  18. Its a bit later than what I wanted to post but this is the radar of the storms that split in two, as we know the south cell being the most potent.. At roughly 7pm and this was posted by a member that Norwich was about to get slammed and I had looked at the radar to see a potent core heading straight for us. I did something else whilst waiting for the storm to arrive hearing distant rumbles occasionally for about 10 minutes or so. I was thinking why it hadn't got louder and more frequent etc and when I looked at the radar, ouch! It split and the centre just flattened right out. Totally unexpected when it was that close. Crazy how it did that. Earler at around 6pm though I took these 2 pictures near Norwich Airport as it approached and it looked like it was moving quickly.. The credit is not mine for the rest of the pictures as they are from members of my FB group but here are some of them that I have chosen to share. I love this first one, the back end of the storm near Loddon.. Decent sized hail in Ashbocking Suffolk.. Cb from Cambridgeshire.. From Rendlesham.. Ormesby.. From Lowestoft.. and finally a roll cloud picture from Trimley St. Mary.. Ok so I missed out but I'm thankful for all of those who took pictures and video to show us what it was like from different areas. Thanks guys
  19. I was just about to mention storms seem to be being helped by a CZ. First time I spotted it.
  20. I havent seen lightning without a storm as such but I am sure I saw lightning in blue skies without any knowledge of there being a storm nearby or even being able to see it. It became apparant on the drive home to Norwich I was about to witness the best lightning of my entire life. Must have been so much energy. A mix of surface and elevated I should imagine. I can see definitely how a stray lightning bolt could seemingly appear in blue skies out of nothing. I still wow in my mind when I think about it.
  21. Getting rumbles in the distance, the cell west of Norwich has been right moving the last 15 minutes.
