  1. Just a quick look at tomorrows potential which still has some DLS albeit a little less than today forecast to slowly exit the east overlapping CAPE and there is supercell parameters in place for the midlands plus from west to east throughout the day significant tornado parameters forecast by Lightningwizard.com ..
  2. I don't tend to stay put, it happened to end up IMBY but it did start with a chase to meet it.
  3. Was hoping for supercells but got a rather large storm batter us in Norfolk (not sure if it was big enough to class as an MCS) but it started off with IC lightning way up in the clouds with distant rumbles then as time went on they got progressively louder. No CGs until i was just about to move off and bam a purple CG very quickly struck in front of me over the field and the thunder was different to all types of thunder I had heard. Sounded like bombs going off. Started heading back to Norwich from my chase spot just passed Sparham and wow the roads were flooded so quickly. Took only an hour and floods at a roundabout in Hellesdon where the drains couldnt cope which was like a fountain, drivers cautiously exiting the roundabout and got further down the road and there was a really bright flash and extremely loud bang, others I know even commented on it at the same time. A van parked in the drive started its car alarm. Went to vote and another CG right in front of me. A nice deep purple. Certainly wasn't a bust cause that moisture certainly dropped back down on our heads! Got some footage of the thunder got to check it first though... Oh and it was the most flooded I'd seen the roads ever I think. Was blasting through water so much on the drive back.
  4. I know what you mean, I enjoyed that feeling this morning.. Summer rain.
  5. A brightning echo near Cambridge not sure to what extent it'll go. Hot and humid when the sun is out thats for sure. I think some CAPE has built up. V4 CAPE overlay has 600J/KG showing for most of EA. Its too early to call bust yet.
  6. I was thinking of a property on a game called I think.. Monopoly that I'm trying to invent, I got as far as Old Road but just feels like something is missing. I Kent think what I could add to make it more interesting
  7. I've been seeing for at least an hour what looks like remenance passing of maybe convection that didn't get going today cause it was too cloudy.
  8. If you are in Norfolk currently, I wouldn't throw the towel in just yet, we are still under a warm plume that is still destabilising, imo any way
  9. I like to think of it as dynamic forecasting. Some may say cheating but I would say great to have later thoughts and findings included. There will obviously be some after thoughts so why not air them? We do
  10. Some good info on vorticity within the below link.. http://www.theweatherprediction.com/charts/500/basics/ Edit: also click links to other pages for more info
  11. Certainly when storms are more organised unlike the recent convective period where storms were pulsing in nature, they can go on for much longer as the updrafts are separated from the downdrafts so no downdraft choking off the updrafts. With supercells these storms can go on for hours and travel a very long way. With DLS in the mix, these next couple of days are a different kettle of fish.
  12. Was looking at the significant tornado parameters a little while ago as well as supercell composite. Looking very interesting. Glad you added your forecast Nick cause wasn't so confident in adding that to the mix. NW skew-T isn't giving that much SRH but nearly 1000j/kg forecasting for Chelmsford (for Thursday that is).
  13. Had 23C dewpoint temps everyday in Acapulco Mexico in August. I know what thats like I like it though just know theres potential for better storms when they are around and I saw a few when I was in Mexico too. All round great holiday for lovely hot and sunny weather with storms a lot of nights and the odd day! Fingers crossed for some to remain on UK soil. Wednesday is more certain, hoping Thursday will also deliver for some too.
  14. For me I have a tinge of excitement just looking at the potential and actually seeing some strong DLS (Deep Layer Shear) forecast especially for Thursday currently. Low level convection visible here at the moment and nice and warm and a touch humid when the sun is out. Such a nice time of year
  15. Wasn't expecting that. Got to Tesco (other supermarkets are available) and saw dark clouds ahead. Felt nice and humid (i like that feeling) and pretty hot with the sun out. Wasn't sunny for most of the morning. Was in for about 30 mins and when I came out it was another surprise (as pictured) For the first time this year there was some reasonable motion and nice updtafts. Couldn't chase as with the kids but it moved away pretty quickly.
  16. That line of cells yesterday afternoon looked great, did you not get a good show there? Enjoyed a nice pulse storm at about 6pm yesterday passing west of Norwich. It didn't me but enjoyed increasingly increasing thunder and when I went out of the city to a viewing field. 2 white CG bolts close in front of me with shotgun thunder 5 seconds after to finish proceedings.
  17. Even though the charts were showing similar temps and dewpoints with maybe some residual cloud being an issue however its been lovely and sunny here and it feels like the hottest day of the convective period and more humid. Towers all around currently in and around Norwich.
  18. Ah thats a shame, must have been interesting to watch though, I like seeing even just rotation in cloud bases.
  19. Its a bit tricky today cause its so messy. There is a sharp cell south of you. Hopefully the cell heading towards me will intensify or it may be even later when the best potential reaches us.
  20. I would chase it but the time I get there the best bit may be gone.
