The rains always come eventually,we had the water companies moaning about lack of rain some years ago,then few weeks later the rains came and it hardly stopped raining the next six months,then the worry was floods!

35c and high humidity is way worse than 40 c and low humidity,thank goodness we have the latter.

how many deaths have been reported so far ,are you really expecting thousands of extra people to die by end of tomorrow? The humidity is low which makes a huge difference regarding this heat,stepping out the plane to 35c with 53% humidity at Orlando international Airport was unbearable,could hardly breath,a few years ago.

IN 1976 ,if I can mention that again without being trolled,that lasted for about 10 weeks,,.but not as hot thanfully as the next 48 hours,,now because of global warming we can expect the next 1976 wiith temps we see today, that would be unbearable

Amazing gfs picked this out 10 days ahead,probably a fluke,of course,normaly miles out 10 days ahead, if we see 1987 type charts 10 days ahead this coming winter,it wont verify you can put money on that!

you werent even born in 76 I would imagine its still a far more great heatwave then this one will be,this is only 2 days

76 lasted weeks,this is 48 hours,cant even compare the two apart from higher temps for 2 days

Reading about it is not exactly the same as living though it,is it.No schools were closed like they would be now,my primary school I was at,did not have a single day called off we even did sports day,heaven forbid. This went on for weeks on end,no great fuss made,people still went to work,no stupid common sense warnings of drink more wear a hat,you could die if you go out etc,. Everyone just enjoyed it without all these stupid dramatic warnings we get now.Give me a break. This country has gone to ruin now,

Hoping temps get higher than forecast,isnt that why you join a weather forum,for extremes of weather,we dont see it often in UK,though heat wise its getting more commmon. Strange to see some people complaining about it in a Weather forum though,very odd Like the cold blast 0f 87 but the opposite,the extreme cold that year only lasted about 36 hours too,before it modified

So much fuss for 36 hours of heat. IN the poorer countries like India and Pakistan is everything shut down for weeks when its hot,you know the answer.

Amazing to think we have a good chance of hitting 4oc,never thought we may reach that in my lifetime. Fascinating to see how high we can go. The fuss about it is way OTT though for less than a 2 day extreme spell,as if people wouldnt know what to do,if you have an ounce of common sense How do they cope in India and Pakistan where they get similar temps for weeks on end before the moonsoon season starts. Lots of people over there live in far worse conditions than majority of people in UK could ever imagine,does the goverment and weather services send out red warnings and get everything shut down over there also for weeks on end.No! UK is now a snowflake country run by idiots

Its been said about a million times before,but until extreme charts either hot or cold get into the reliable timeframe 4 days at worse,then never think they are going to verify,then you wont end up being upset when they dont happen! .The 40c plus charts were at least 10 days ahead when they first appeared,so always likely to change. Even now its still miles away before anything can be certain regarding next weekend and beyond.

Usual looking pressure charts after winter with I see Northern blocking dominating the Weather, what a surprise said nobody ever. Could be a scoring summer eventually, then all Northern blocking will vanish again as winter returns
