  1. A few tiny snowfalkes floating down from the sky. Temp currently 1.7C.
  2. Nice for those of us in the west of the region though (she said selfishly).
  3. Big upgrade here too for snow. Starting at 1800 today and continuous for over 24 hours! Believe it when I see it, but you never know ... Meanwhile a very cold morning with an overnight low of -6.8C. Perfect landing conditions for snow!
  4. Shafali on Midlands today just said "snow not high on the agenda" for this week. Main BBC forecast saying snow limited to Wales and west Midlands, so they are going with the EURO 4 model.
  5. Clear skies and a chilly -6.1C. Lovely.
  6. Upgrade alert! MetO now forecasting continuous snow from 2000hr Tuesday through to 1200 hr Wednesday in Ludlow area. I'll take that thank you very much.
  7. Heard a spotted woodpecker drumming this late afternoon - a sure sign of lengthening evenings as the establishment of territory in readiness for breeding becomes increasingly important.
  8. There are still 5.5 weeks of winter left, things could change. Mild and wet is not a done deal by any means.
  9. Temp here already down to -2.8C, so whatever falls from the sky tomorrow will almost certainly freeze once it hits the ground. Lane is a complete sheet of ice, even the bin men took it steady this morning.
  10. Remember that there is some ongoing warming in the stratosphere which favours more cold outbreaks as we move through the remainder of winter. So, although we may never find ourselves in the freezer, there could be possibilities of snow and frosts. Winter is far from over.
  11. hopefully, it'll shift back west by about 150 miles on the next run.
  12. The front bringing snow to the west of Ireland currently is moving extremely slowly which is allowing warmer air to mix in. Not sure what to expect tomorrow evening, but suspect it will be cold sleety rain in the west of the region and light snow in the east. Had another good frost last night -5.2C. Ground still frosty and frozen, pond still covered in ice. Maxed out at 3.5C today, temp now falling back.
  13. Light snow flurries here for about the past hour or so now. Nothing visible on the ground. Temp just hovering around the freezing mark.
  14. MetO 5-dayer still has Ludlow down for light snow overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Keep the faith!
  15. Still rain here. Precip may be too light. On well, next time eh?
  16. [quote name="cyclonic happiness" post="3127675" timestamp="1421583853" As for the band moving south now, as thought, it's starting to fizzle out and won't be anymore than a band of annoying cloud which will stop the temperatures from dropping, therefore preventing an early frost. But as I said........you never know! :-D
  17. Very frosty here this morning, -4.2C. Lovely crunchy grass and frozen mud for the dog walk. Snow on surrounding high hills, but nothing at 100m. I'd estimate the snowline as 250-300m. Currently a blue-sky day with wall-to-wall sunshine and barely any wind. The only thing that would make it perfect is a nice deep layer of snow. Looking promising for mid week.
  18. Bananas weather. Temp all evening has been between -0.6c and +0.8C, I've seen ice on the grass and garden seat outside the backdoor, yet everything falling from the sky has been rain or sleet. Presumably the uppers and/or dew point is too high.
  19. Can walk the dog in the fields until 5pm now and not need a torch to find my way around! Incredible improvement in the lightening evenings.
  20. A nice winter's day here. Now frosty with a temp of -0.5C. Ice remained on pond and garden path all day. I see we have been forecast rain showers this evening. Maybe the temp will rise later, or else they will fall as snow. Next 4 days although cold, currently have virtually no snow in the MetO forecast, but quite a few rain showers. The cold and the precipitation don't seem to be happening together at the right times! Still we have to remeber that forecasting snow is extremely difficult, so I hope the forecasts are wrong.
  21. Been out with dog hoping to get caught in some of those showers from Wales. Well, we did get caught, but we also got wet as they are a mix of snow, sleet and a bit of rain.
  22. A few very llight snow showers here - looks like the main band went south of us. Temp -0.9C. Are we in colder-than-expected air? Does anyone know what the 850s are currently?
  23. After all the rain and wind yesterday, it's nice to have blue skies, sun and a gentle breeze. No exciting showers here. Max temp was 5.4C and currently 3.7C. Hoping for a cold one tonight with some snowy showers tomorrow am. The west Midlands in particular seems to be in a good spot.
  24. Despite the optimism of the charts, the MetO 5-dayer has virtually no snow in the forecast for Ludlow. Blustery and very cold feeling here right now, but dry. Temp 4.7C. Whereabouts are you in the west Midlands? Can you add your location to your avatar so that when you report mountains of snow we know where it is!
