  1. It looks like it from the charts Dancer posted. Whether it happens like that of course is a different matter, nonetheless, very encouraging.
  2. Showers are sleety here. Cold and blustery. Neither me nor the dog looking forward to the morning walk - will have to get the waterproofs on!
  3. Storm did not amount to much here, with a max gust in the 48mph range. Meanwhile the temp has plummeted since the skies cleared and is now just 0.4C. I can see the car taking on that "I'm just about to ice up" look.
  4. Windy v gusty here (nothing out of the unusual as yet) and rain heavy with large drops. Temperature has risen to 8.1C.
  5. Starting to get windy here. Temp currently 4.1C. I like the sound of the 25cm snow on Tiesday/Wednesday MIA. That's what you call a proper snowfall.
  6. If the current charts come off, it will be hats off the the NetWeather team predicting a cold-heart to winter! Well done guys.
  7. We ended up with about 3cm snow which froze well overnight, and stayed frozen throughout my dog walk until 10am this morning. Everything still white, but thaw defo set in now. Temperature risen to 2.8C. Sky turned milky then clouds started rolling in, and the wind has come up a little. Looking windy tonight and even windier tomorrow evening according to MetO forecast.
  8. Decent covering so far. Hoping for plenty more overnight. There does look as though there are some good beefy showers lining up in the Irish Sea and SW approaches.
  9. Heavy snow here now. I think we might be in the red blob on the radar. Everything getting covered v fast.
  10. Light snow here. Grass now white.
  11. I think the best snow arrives after midnight when a little feature moves east through our region and peps it all up, Patience .... It will snow.
  12. Snowing properly here and pitching on car and paths! Good luck everyone.
  13. Does any one know if it's snowy in Co Mayo?
  14. Making progress, sleet has shifted to a snow/sleet mix!
  15. Sleet just started here as showers start to move in. Hoping it will turn to snow very soon. temp currently 1.2C.
  16. Although we had wet snow, at 50m higher elevation the hills are white. We are at 93asl, so snow line pretty low.
  17. Precipitation band just about to clear here.
  18. Sleety rain here, turning to wet snow in heavier bursts. Temp 2.2C. A promising start as completely unexpected.
  19. My snow drops are up too. Showing white buds, but none are open. Time for them looks about average to me. Saw some elongating catkins this week - that shows we have had a few mild days. Hopefully all will be put on hold for a while when get our snowfest.
  20. Isn't that typical! Just when you really need to know the temperature.
  21. Looking good for snow I think. Possibly being in the west of the region may be advantageous this time. Temp this morning was 1.5C, now 2.3C. Clouds looking snowy. I think all of us Midlanders could get lucky sometime in the next week.
  22. Thanks for reassurance CH! No way! There are several other possibilities for snow during the next week or so.
  23. 2m temp are chilly but not especially cold looking, especially at night. 850s look v borderline for snow — isn't it -5C or below for snow ideally?
  24. Tuesday and Wednesday now snowless according to MetO forecast. Disaster
  25. Agree. MetO forecasts do not currently match the GFS wind charts being posted. Hopefully MetO is correct. It looks windy in the Midlands on Wed/Thurs but no more than that.
