  1. A contrast to the previous few days - grey and murky. Cold feeling with the temperature slowly declining since this morning from a high of 2.9C down to 1.6C now. If you want to see some great snow photos have a look at this article published yesterday about the snow storms in Boston, USA. Close to 6 feet of snow in just a few weeks, and another storm coming today that could drop up to another foot! Even the Bostonians are finding it tough. http://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2015/02/09/boston-new-england-snow-records/23109017/
  2. Temp was -1.8C earlier this evening, but has since risen to +2.8C now. Cloud has arrived and it feels completely different outside.
  3. Another lovely sunny day. Tomorrow is forecast overcast and no frost. That's the same as forecast yesterday and today, so we shall see.
  4. Another severe frost at -5.1C. Not misty this morning, but I could see a bank of fog away to the east. Clear blue skies.
  5. That's right. I know 10C isn't anything special for Feb, but it's in the context of current weather conditions and frecasts.
  6. Where did you get that from? Although it may be a bit damp on Friday, I haven't seen anything suggestive of a washout.
  7. Still clear skies here and temp dropped back to -2.4C. Temp dropped almost 7C between 5pm and 6pm. We eventually maxed out at a rather staggering 10.2C after a spring-like day with blue skies and very light winds.
  8. Temp maxed out here at 9.8C. Extraordinary considering the frosty start.
  9. It's odd isn't it. Presumably the difference is due to topography? I am surrounded to some extent or another by highish hills (>300m) all around, Clee Hill, the south Shropshire hills, Welsh hills and the Malverns. I'm not especially high at 93asl. I'm about a mile outside of the village proper, and that is a frost hollow too. Anyway, whatever the reason I am very hapy about it
  10. Crumbs that was an unexpectedly cold night. A low of -4.6C, and currently still -0.9C. Very misty and frosty first thing. Now hazy sun and milky blue skies. As you say MIA, lovely weather for walking.
  11. Nice frosty start to the day, followed by sunshine and light winds with a max temp so far of 3.8C. Temp looks to be falling back now.
  12. Tamara's post on the MO thread (#474) still optimistic for another cold shot after mid-month.
  13. Nothing here. Maybe too far west to get any of the showers? Temp has climbed to 3.4C so not holding my breath for a shower as it is likely to be of the wet variety.
  14. Yes, and it might actually be in the west midlands. It must be our turn next surely? Frosty this morning, now a clear blue sky and a bit of a breeze.
  15. A little disingenious. Did you also accurately forecast January?
  16. Temperature dropped to a low of -6.3C just before midnight, but then the cloud came and spoiled the party. Currently -2.7C. A very red sky earlier too, now turning to a dusty purple with shades of orange.
  17. We still had light in the sky at 1800 today, and it was easily light enough to walk in the fields at 1730.
  18. In Bath in 1962/63 we had close to 3 foot of snow. Truly wonderful. It was almost level to our front garden wall which was exactly 3 foot high. The whole of the front garden was just one deep snowy field. Remarkable.
  19. A lovely -5.0C on the nose. Coldest temp this year so far.
  20. What is boring about a severe frost? Might even get some fog to give a snow-effect on the hedges and trees.
  21. Temperature now below freezing at -1.7C. I noticed that we had quite a bit of very thin slushy ice on the pond when out with the dog an hour or so ago. Very puzzling since this is the first time for several days that the temp has fallen below freezing.
  22. Topped up the bird feeders here too. Can feel a different more intense sort of cold setting in for tonight, so have high hopes for a proper frost. Chicken going in the oven soon. Yum, yum.
  23. Snow showers here for the past 40 minutes or so. Very unexpectbed and not forecast. Temp dropped back to 1.2C, so during heavier bursts snow is pitching on car and wooden surfaces. Conor you really need to get out of Telford, it's causing you great angst living there :-)
  24. Forecast for most of England and wales is cold and dry this week. There was talk of extended cold yesterday on the MO thread, with some decent blocking.
  25. Nothing here, not even rain despite being under that band of precipitation for a couple of hours. However, surrounding hills are white and places like Clee Hill and the south Shropshire Hills that I can see from my house clearly had a good pasting.
