  1. That's a good one to watch as it is on Long Island, one of the hotspots for snow. There was a guy shoveling snow earlier on this feed too. Maybe he's trying to avoid it building up beyound a certain depth so that it will be easier to clear once the snow stops.
  2. For those of us feeling snow starved, here's a live feed of the snow in Long Isaldn, New York, one of the favoured hot spots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WV2jJKHVw0&feature=youtu.be
  3. MetO update today states there is a chance of snow to low levels in the Midlands later on Wednesday into Thursday. Everyone upbeat on the MO thread, even the pessimists! Cold spell may be colder and last longer than earleir forecasts indicated.
  4. Will be a tad cold outside though with a 'feels like' temp of between -15 and -20C for Boston on Tuesday. They still have 4inches of snow in their gardens from the past storm. I imagine power cuts will be everywhere and for several days too.
  5. Nothing "marginal" about the snow storm about to hit the NE USA. Considering they deal pretty well with snowfalls 6-12inches on a regular basis, then to describe this strom as potentially crippling shows how bad it is expected to be. Having been in a snow storm which dropped 7-8 inches in Philly, I can vouch for the efficiency with which roads and car parks are cleared.
  6. Dew points, 850 temps and wet bulbs temps all look good for snow on Thursday, so we might get lucky IF there is any precipitation around - maybe the disturbances in the airflow will provide the entertainment we need.
  7. Watch the video Lukey posted earlier today. This shows a forecast for a lot of snow over a lot of the UK brought in by a northerly airflow.
  8. Just scraped a frost here this morning, -0.2C. First snow symbol has appeared in Ludlow area forecast for Thursday am. Let the fun begin!
  9. Increasing speculation about SNOW on Wednesday, especially those in the firing line from the Cheshire gap effect. Great charts Dancer. Let's hope they're not too la-la land!
  10. I think BA might be having a mini ramp. Ensembles for the whole county look like delivering a 5+ day cold spell.
  11. The so-called warm sector arriving over the weekend and early next week doesn't seem that "warm" to me. Ludlow area forecast max temps of 7C Sun to Tues which is more average than "warm". Temp here now above freezing, 3.6C.
  12. Seems like higher minima in the west of the region. Here it was -2.9C, so a decent frost but nothing out of the ordinary. Currently -0.3C and still very frosty.
  13. It turned into a very pleasant day here after the early gloom. Sun cane out, nice and calm with a max temp of 4.0C. Temp now falling and almost back to zero.
  14. Humidity stable over night here MIA, but dropped from 88 to 83% about 11 this morning.
  15. Damp drizzley cold rain here, 2.6C.
  16. Very encouraging and informative MIA. Thanks for posting.
  17. Dry here too and temp has increased from 0.2 up to 1.7C in past hour. Maybe in the warm sector which will hopefully push off sooner rather than later. Defo concerned about lack of any precip.
  18. MetO forecast now a mix of mainly snow with some sleety bits throught this evening and overnight. Hoping the snow will be heavier than the sleet. Temp now dropped back to 0.2C, so still on downward trend.
  19. Not much action on the MO thread. Just 1 post on the latest models, but 245 peeps signed in waiting to hear the words of wisdom. Snow stopped here. Temporarily I hope.
  20. Precipitation coming onto the south coast of Wales starting to invigorate nicely.
  21. Yes, very light fine snow. No rain at all.
  22. Are you still having just rain? 93 asl, so not that high.
  23. I am pleased to announce that we have proper light snow here now, and getting heavier. Temp has fallen back to 1C. Snow is pitching straight away and garden path slightly white already and only been going a few minutes! Edit. Bigger flakes starting to appear.
  24. Agree, but I think the very south of the region was always iffy for snow. Even further north in Ludlow area, it will be very borderline.
