  1. I really hope it stays quieter here on the IOW, we most certainly could not cope with anymore rain, ive never seen flooding like we've had recently, and even roads closed that have never been before. The ground is so saturated and majority of the island is fields/grassland.

The severe wind gust which led to headlines (99mph at Needles, IOW) was an outlier related to the an extremely exposed anemometer on a cliff top on an exposed island which does not represent surface conditions. The peak gust on a mainland coastal station was 82mph. you still on about this...shall i ask for it to be took down ??? and placed in my back garden

  5. Yes i know..I completely understand where you are coming from, however the IOW was hit bad last night..and i was being a tad sarcastic..long nightshift so yeah sorry.

  8. Horrendous on islands roads, getting home was awful, so much debris everywhere
  9. Constant weather reports coming from people all over island..will fill you in later..have to try and find a way home from work.. Am signing of and will be taking it steady getting home

Update Gust of 99 miles per hour have been recorded at the Needles Battery this morning and trees have fallen near Cowelease hill, Yarmouth road, Shorwell Shute, Tescos Roundabout, Forest Road, Beaper Shute, Mersley Lane, Forest Road, Calbourne MIddle Road, Afton Road, Briddlesford Road , Newport Road, Lake and Sandford Garage. The council's roads team are clearing these areas. A power cable has fallen at the Blacksmith Arms on the Middle Road, the Road has been closed, but Burnt House Lane remains open. Red Funnel and Hovertravel have suspended all services until further notice this morning. Wightlink has suspended the Yarmouth/Lymington service but a coach service will be taking passengers from Yarmouth to Fishbourne at 7am where they can transfer their tickets, and the Fastcat passenger service has been cancelled. Islandline SUSPENDED due to overhead powerline down on tracks, Islandline services delayed due to trees on track at Brading The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for Monktonmead Brook in Ryde.
  11. The island has so many road closure, everytime I think "right I shall go this way home" I then get an update of another road closure..The wind gusts are worse now then earlier before, we have power cables down blocking roads..

  13. all travel has been suspended to and from the island, power cuts in many places now, road closure reports, and roads now impassable
  14. It has become considerable worse here on IOW..really gusting now, and power flickering all time
  15. appears to be picking up a bit again, the rain has been relentless, got to be at least 6hrs non stop raining.
  16. It seems to of calmed a bit here on the IOW ? have we seen the worst or is there more to come yet ?

  18. Not sure how much worse this is going to get..im in a very exposed part of Ryde, my work place is pretty much on Ryde seafront.

  20. Getting a Tad worried here now on the Isle of Wight..Could i say i need to batten down my hatches or is it still to early and could it track furher south like some have been saying..Some updates and information on this Low would be very very much appreciated guys.
