  1. Northern fells of the lake district have a sugar coating of snow down to quite low levels. Overcast, low cloud, calm and temp of 3.2c
  2. Dull and damp here all day although late clearing gave a colourful sunset and an ethereal light
  3. True . I have just checked mine and the cannisters. Also make sure you know where candles/matches/lighters together with torches and batteries. Charge up all laptops/ipads and mobile phones
  4. People should bear in mind that many southern and western areas will be without electricity and the internet from tomorrow for some time. If your only source of lighting, heating and cooking is from electricity alternative plans should be made

  11. Misty murky day with rain during the afternoon. Max 8c Min 6c Trending now to unseasonable mild temps
  12. I'm moving up to the lakes around mid January, I am sure the severe wintry weather is waiting for me. Woohoo
  13. A chilly day and often foggy. Trees dripping all day. Max 6 Min 4
  14. Expecting another day of overcast claggy conditions. Nearby tops of Blencathra, Clough Head and Great Dodd all covered. Wolf Crags on the Old Coach Road, at approx 1800 feet are at times swallowed up by the swirling mists and clouds. Slight breeze and temp at present 12c
  15. Currently sunny and 12.6c, misty but not the thick fog of yesterday which gave some impressive inversions from the summit of Blencathra and many other lake district summits
  16. Overnight low of 9.9c just after midnight and then temp rose to 12.2c at 3am, falling back to 11.4c at 05:45. Now cloudy with a temp of 12.1c . Cloud covering the summit of Blencathra and Great Dodd but distant hills towards Keswick clear. No inversions although current forecasts suggest these may be back over the next few days
