Agreed! Been chipping an enormous pile of hedgecuttings at work through the morning/early pm… that Met warning is spot on! Very unpleasant. Does look worse in Somerset as others have mentioned - lived there for some years a while back, and remember driving between Glastonbury and Wells on days like this. Some sketchy moments for sure! Might be a few around Stroud district if this carries on… Imagine if it was just below freezing today! Buried…

Model Output Discussion - Into Winter

Interestingly, according to the radar, light precip in mid Wales is all snow, heavier precip north wales rain/sleet with a little snow over what I presume is the highest mountains. In the regional threads, it’s been reported as being sub zero in Dorset again. Appreciate it’s all fluid and evolving, but still looks a little complicated… -
Barely above freezing here, some frost in the garden here and there..mist has just broken for the first time today just as the sun is dropping… could it get cold enough for a little snow later? Or is the milder air going to sweep it away.. Met office were very vague about that this morning, hinting that snow was possible for south Wales and south midlands, which I guess could give some of us a chance in the north of our region. They also said temperature would get up to 3c around here mid afternoon- and it certainly hasn’t!

Now that does look like a repeat of last December! But as we said yesterday that wasn’t expected even hours before the event.. -
Model Output Discussion - mid Autumn

Bit off topic, but how is this potential set up compared to Dec 11th last year? I had a fairly localised event that left 7 inches of snow in the garden for a week.. it was -4c by midnight, then we had fairly wet snow for several hours. -

Not just old school! (Appreciate it’s more rare now). Had that here in 2018… -

Last big storm lightning storm I saw around 6 years ago, could see the lightning in Gloucestershire when it was just making land on the south coast - was epic when it got overhead! Seen that in Greece once too - with a view across the ocean and no clouds visible at all - must have been 50 miles way at least. Travels a long way at night! -

Hi, any hope for a change to something stormy in the SW into the evening/overnight, or is that over for us now? Certainly looks that way at present! -

Reading this thread this morning, and looking at the radar almost anywhere could be in for at least a small storm! It’s only 10.30… busy on here today I reckon.. -

Probably naive question, and certainly a IMBY one, but that storm heading into Devon, is it possible it’ll get bigger to the east as hits land? The CAPE values are still very high from Somerset up to NE Gloucestershire… -

Yeah possibly.. if it follows the 700hpa wind vectors (I’ve often used that as a ‘guide’ for direction of travel, but sometimes it’s way off!). If your in Bridgwater you’d be in for a good shout if so…interesting to see if it dies or builds as it comes inland.. building East and travelling NE would be splendid for me! -
